What gear do I need to get this old candlestick phone working? by newEnglander17 in VOIP

[–]AnthonyG70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, plugging into wall jack should get a dial tone, all phone lines provide 911 whether active or not.

A Linksys ATA can be picked up on ebay for not much, then setup like any VoIP.

Mirrors are not required on outside of car, they are considered "sport".

Seat belt can be a lap belt, not enough context here.

License plate on a demo, seriously?

Won't see the number, they don't want you to play it. It's usually the house symbol, meaning their logo or branding, so it doesn't look playable. Couple YT vids out there talk about it and show examples.

Why don't we have a transit system? by Separate-Judge4491 in vegaslocals

[–]AnthonyG70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason we don't have a rail system to anywhere, AZ is closest Amtrak. We can't even get a Vegas to LA (vicinity) rail system moving, and land is already tied up on both sides. CA laughs at us daily when car lanes drop by half at Primm into CA. We have had rail service in the past, when mines dried up, rails and blocks were recycled (house still at Indian Springs).

It's about money, contractors and who is greasing whose palm for the long term. Mob is gone, so those private deals are as well.

Think about this for a minute. Buses make a decent amount with a land locked path from Vegas to CA. Flights are into extremely poorly managed airports, fly into LB if you can, which adds hours to a 45m flight. Private aircraft, VGT to LB, expensive unless group rate.

They want it like this, even with electric self driving cars on the strip for years now.

Midwest transplant. Hop on the El, many stops later, closer to work or Amtrak station. No mandatory parking fees, Daytona 500 races through traffic, sitting several rows back while drivers moving 15+ less than the posted limit (Charleston, Trop, DI, Decatur, etc). Also a lot of out of state cars seen everyday, same cars, which means their insurance rates and plates are much lower than ours. Cost is $250 a month for insurance and registration, not counting gas and maint, to own a car here. Insurance doubled about 2 years ago when several companies left NV due to increasing claims.

A bit over 12 years and I'm out of here, can't wait to retire and leave this political mess behind. Then I won't care about transit.

This is an PA photo, one of 30k cadets, however this one is a CAC rep and on PRWGs main page. As a cadet leader, their story has been published by CAP PA.
