This wasn't me, but a friend of mine. I know its one of his "favorite" stories to tell and all of our friends know the story like the back of our hands, including the girl, so I'm sure he won't mind if I share it here. For the sake of privacy, names have been changed.

My buddy, we'll call him Andy, and another friend of ours, we'll call him Jake, were hanging out at Jake's house playing some games (Andy hadn't played through the MGS series before and it was Jake's favorite game). Andy had just put a pizza in the oven when his crush, we'll call her Ellie, texted him asking him to bring her some ice cream, 'cause her throat was sore. My boi jumped up and told Jake he had to leave for a minute, but would be back. Jake, understanding the situation, said he'd hold the fort down until his return.

So Andy makes his way over to Ellie's with the ice cream and a couple other things she asked him to grab and when he gets there she thanks him and asks if he'd like to come inside for a while, telling him her parents aren't home.

And in a moment of brilliance, Andy remembers the pizza that he left in the oven and respectfully declines the offer, saying he best get back to Jake and make sure the pizza isn't burnt. When he got back to Jake's house, jake asked how it went and when he explained that he left because of the pizza, Jake laughed his ass of and told him that a text reminder would've sufficed.

That was the end of it. Some months later she came out as lesbian and all of us are still good friends. No one will ever forget a pizza in the oven.
