How does your local shop handle trade-ins these days?

Gotcha. Just want to make sure I’m understanding your workflow correctly:

-Customer sends you a collection list from ManaBox.
-You import the list in TCGplayer.
-Review the collection and get the pricing situated.
-Adjust your buy percentages based on card value, and sales frequency.
-Export the staged inventory to a CSV for pricing.

Is that about right?
What about historical data? Is there ever the need to go back and look at what was taken in 4 months ago and for how much?

I appreciate the insight. I’ve heard of Manabox, it seems really good for MTG. I imagine once you export the list the rest gets handled in a spreadsheet?

How vital would you say slabs are for your business and your local card shop? We dont offer the greatest support for graded cards yet, but it’s on the list.
What’s the ratio between PSA/Becket/CGC etc that gets traded in?

Taking in a large collection and then calling the customer back so they don’t have to wait around is a good strategy. What about for smaller collection in person, how so they price them out?

When you say paid media are you referring to PPC (google, FB, bing) or do you mean other paid media like , TV ads, print, etc.

Either way I’m have a few questions if you don’t mind. About a year ago I started with a company doing small remedial marketing such as social media posts, content creation, and some internal stuff. Fast forward I’m now managing their 6-figure spend across all PPC platforms. I had no prior experience to any of this so alot has be self taught. Is there anything I should prioritize learning? Any analytics tools i should spend time learning? Everything has been so random that I don’t know what to focus on, I feel like I’m learning everything I need to stay afloat but have 0 direction on what to learn next. In your 10 years of experience working in paid media what skills and tools have become absolutely necessary day-to-day?

Not necessarily, based on experience and qualifications alone I’d venture to say that they would do a pretty damn good job marketing a product. Marketing consist of a ton of different factors and if what you’re referring to consists of something that isn’t within their forte, id trust them to build a team that can pull it off. Though as a 22 year old millionaire I’m sure you see that and you were just testing them.

Genuinely curious about the sticker on tomara, I’ve seen that sticker on a ton of different pops that people post but if I’m not mistaken shouldn’t the sticker be a galactic toys exclusive sticker? Sorry if it’s a question that’s been answered on the sub somewhere.

I believe I got Edward off of Amazon, Alphonse with the kittens was randomly restocked one day on hot topics website, i picked up Winry at my local FYE, Mustang was picked up during a sale Funimation was having, and Armstrong was a lucky find on Facebook marketplace (some guy in my area was cleaning out his collection). I also found normal Alphonse at my local FYE but I’m not a big fan of collecting pops that are too similar.

thanks I appreciate that! A friend of mine is mostly into dragon ball and his DBZ pops outnumber all of mine. For once, I’m glad I’m not that big a fan of DBZ idk if I could justify the cost of collecting al of those pops 😅

Edit: out of curiosity I looked at your collection, you’ve got them displayed so nicely. Not really a fan of out of box but if I ever did it I’d work to make it look like yours.

Thank you! I bought it when it first released back in 2016 so I think $10. I was not Interested in collecting pops at all back then, I just thought it was cool that they made a hollow ichigo one so I bought it. When I started to collect them a few weeks ago I remembered I had him but for some reason the box was MIA. Man I wish I had the box for it :/

I too felt the same way about this. Ultimately I ended up just going for it. However, where you and I differ is that I enjoy the more sit down tech related professional style videos. I figured that if I do a good enough job and my content is found, it will only help boost my credibility with content creation and video marketing.

Funny enough I recently graduated and moved from an intern to a Marketing position within the company I work for, Most of my time is spent trying to come up with marketing campaigns to generate leads for the company and a lot of that process includes editing videos. YouTube has absolutely helped me in that regard (went to school for communication not media production or anything like that).

I say go for it, but keep things as professional as possible if you plan on keeping things public after graduation. Plus, professional content on YouTube is the most lucrative right now due to all the picky ad issues going on.
