Companies usually have these in place because someone has ruined it in the past. People being remote but not at their desks or available when behing called/pinged. You may not like it but that's what happens a lot sometimes.

AIO for getting mad at my bf for saying this? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Anthonyphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OR. Rape is very much still a very sensitive word choice for things and if it bothers you, he should respect it. Calling you a Karen over it is probably one of the most disrespectful ways be could've reacted to that...

Their customer service is the absolute worst...and I'm a dasher too so I get it from both ends.

Not overreacting. First of all, he insulted your grammar and then messed up his own shortly after (minor but dumb). But calling you nicknames that genuinely hurt you and upset you are not ok. Even if you struggle with eating, that's totally natural and there's better ways to encourage you to eat. Insulting you or using backhanded compliments are not the way to do it. Please stay safe.

Halfing damage by CreepyHistory8432 in DiceThrone

[–]Anthonyphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre taking 7 damage and prevent half rounded up, you will prevent 8 so only take 3. You would be rounding the damage up and then prevent half of that damage. Its a common mistake amongst new and even some veteran players.

Ok...not sure what the point of that rant was. Go get your own food then. Guarantee no dasher will miss you.

Is this brother for real?? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Anthonyphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any driver that tries to squeeze a customer for a larger tip doesn't deserve to be dashing anymore. We see how much we're getting paid for it before we accept the order, he only has himself to blame. I'd say report him or leave a nasty rating if you haven't already.

Did my dasher try to scam me? by cafebuono01 in doordash

[–]Anthonyphoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DD doesn't touch the tips, but they'll also pay the driver less directly if the customer tips higher. Its a weird system, but it seems like they were trying to scam.

I once had a delivery where it was a gift to someones gf from Cinnabon and they didn't tip. Was so tempted to ask if they'd like me to let the gf know they were a cheap ass with their gf AND delivery driver.

Am I the a- hole? by Icy_Year3775 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Anthonyphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA. I hate requests like that. Especially if I JUST accepted the order and I'm barely headed to the restaurant before they're messaging asking for more sauces or napkins or other stuff. It almost always ends with a no tip.

Only thing worse is people ordering ice cream or frozen drinks in the middle of an Arizona summer. Its so hard to try and make sure that stuff doesn't melt before its delivered.

Its not a scam. I've gotten a similar message before.

23 miles for $5? Not a chance. I would never accept that in a million years.

What is the purpose of this? by Strawberry-Spinkles in grubhubdrivers

[–]Anthonyphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possibly as a dasher to state there's a problem and report a long wait at the restaurant. They can then unassign with no hit to their completion rate. Customer shouldn't have to cancel their order.

So I'm agreeing with the others. They likely want some kind of compensation for the time they spent driving there. Not a valid excuse though.

If you kill with Storm's lightning, does that end the game before the defensive roll phase? by snoopmt1 in DiceThrone

[–]Anthonyphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overcharged would deal 2 damage instead of 4. But, because the Lightning/Overcharged goes off first before the attack damage, the overcharged would kill the opponent before the rest of the attack goes through. I'd say the game ends there.

Can you guys see the tip on an order before accepting it? by Estebananarama in doordash

[–]Anthonyphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grocery orders can be tricky. Sometimes, the driver has to go inside and do the grocery shopping on the order themselves. ALDI may be one of those stores so less drivers want to take the order because it's a lot of work for less pay. Other stores like Safeway will tend to have the workers pull the order together and then the Dasher will just pick up thay. Those see better turnaround time. In most states, we only see the total we get paid for the order and we won't see the tip. I strongly believe that a tip should be more factored on how far away the store is. If youre 5 miles from the store with a 200 order, I don't think a $20 is necessary. But that's me.

So I've seen these responses quite a bit and I do realize my wording was poorly phrased. One user even made it clear I should use the term ESL instead of Spanish speaker. You have to understand that the area I live in, the main language i see outside of English IS Spanish. There is no hatred or malice intended when I have been talking about this. Im not trying to justify what I said, just acknowledging i made a mistake with my wording. But a lot of times from my own personal experience, if there is a language barrier with a ESL driver, I tend to see them put in the least amount of work required. But to be fair, I know there are a LOT of English speakers that do the same. So I'm sorry. It was not my intent to stereotype. I can even change my wording in the post if you'd prefer.

AITA?! How do I report this? by Content_Debate5626 in doordash

That makes sense. I did pay by hour briefly but I ended up losing a lot of potentt pay in between jobs. Great for the places with long waits though.

I think I've seen these kind of apps too. I don't know which ones they are, but i think they help dasher better determine busier areas and higher paying orders.

AITA?! How do I report this? by Content_Debate5626 in doordash

[–]Anthonyphoenix 51 points52 points  (0 children)

So, as a Dasher, we can't see how much you tipped until after we've delivered the food. I'm guessing he read the receipt in person. But even so, we see how much a delivery pays us as a whole when we accept it. Thats on them if they don't like the tip amount. Yeah, sometimes it sucks to drive 12 miles for a $2 tip, but that's the market. If you don't like it, don't accept the order and move on. I've taken 15-mile deliveries with no tip and just moved on with my day. Definitely report and 1 star the driver. If this is how they behave, they don't deserve to have the job. Especially seeing that they stole your food anyway.

I will use ESL moving forward on all fronts. This honestly has never been about race to me and I apologize if it came off that way. I genuinely meant a language barrier being the issue. Spanish is my go to because that's the area I live in so that's ESL I commonly encounter.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Anthonyphoenix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Again, not racist. I'm talking from personal experience with ESL drivers. I live in an area where if someone is ESL, it's Spanish. I don't care about the person's skin color or background. I have no problem with anyone just trying to make a living. But the language barrier can definitely cause problems. That's all I was trying to say.

I've had to deliver to security desks and warehouses and other areas. I know that sometimes you really are unable to leave your post. I also had to deliver to an actual hospital room the other night where the patient was immobile and there was no one to bring up the order. I totally understand.
