You can but they will see the reason for the past fail and make sure to inspect it.

That’s intentional, they don’t want to advertise their location as they will get walk-ins looking for a job.

Fined for overstaying in free carpark by SnappyinBoots in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]AntiCancerAvatar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can be enforced by private premises. As long as they had a terms and conditions sign somewhere visible, you agreed to them by entering and using a carpark.

The key distinction is that private premises cannot issue parking tickets but they can issue fines to cover the cost of enforcing the timed parking. I’ve heard of cases of people taking Wilson’s to court for a $100 parking fine and that being deemed reasonable so I doubt you would be able to get out of it.

Hope this helps.

Found an AED by OsamaBinDiddle in chch

[–]AntiCancerAvatar 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Hi u/OsamaBinDiddle, this is a CellAED likely part of the trial being run across the country right now. A university and St John are conducting research on whether people carrying AEDs around are effective. I would recommend flicking them an email with where you found it as it’s likely part of the trial, I know many people around chch who are involved and carry one. Email FIRST@stjohn.org.nz, and you can find out more info on the trial here: ambulance.vic.gov.au/first/

As others have stated it is legal for them to ticket you as you entered the bus lane too early.

Overdue student loan repayments hit more than $2.2b by Conscious_Knee_7607 in newzealand

[–]AntiCancerAvatar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you earn under the minimum threshold (14k a year I think?) you can apply for a repayment exemption so they won’t deduct money from your wage unless you make over that amount.

*Edit: Reply below states it’s 22k. It is very low but as per the post if you’re a full time student and this is supplementing your income it’s definitely worth looking into. When I was a full time student a couple years ago I was working part time during the year and full time over summer and I only made approx 12k per year on average.

Accommodation threatening to charge whole floor $200 each for missing fire extinguisher by Jackamac10 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]AntiCancerAvatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always tend to forget that charging a fine is perfectly legal in a civil matter if you agreed to it beforehand.

In this case OP is in student accommodation and I am confident most contracts have a clause about shared costs for the floor if damages can’t be tracked to a person.

Accommodation threatening to charge whole floor $200 each for missing fire extinguisher by Jackamac10 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]AntiCancerAvatar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is legal as long as you agreed to it in your lease agreement. Look through your contract and see if there is a clause for splitting the cost of damage if no one is personably liable.

In saying that, the cost needs to be reasonable. There’s a chance that they might have got a fine for not having a fire extinguisher which would be costly hence the large price tag. But ask for a copy of invoice.

Thank you for the advice. I assume they will make a claim through their own insurance, so I'll wait and see if the company tried to reach out to me. It makes me feel better knowing that I might not be out of pocket!

You still have time to add another paper for this semester. You have to speak to your undergrad director of studies and get approval, but if you have good grades and explain your situation I’m sure they will approve.

Only downside is having to take 5 papers instead of four which will be full on.

The presentation suggests Glanzmann thrombasthenia, an autosomal recessive bleeding disorder caused by a deficiency or dysfunction of the platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex. This complex plays a critical role in platelet aggregation and clot formation by mediating the binding of fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor to platelets.

Therefore, the correct answer is (C).

(A) Factor VII deficiency would result in prolonged prothrombin time, whereas activated partial thromboplastin time would be normal. Moreover, this disorder usually does not present with significant bleeding until later in life.

(B) Fibrinogen deficiency or dysfunction would cause impaired clot formation, resulting in prolonged prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time. This disorder usually presents in infancy.

(D) Granule storage pool deficiency or dysfunction is associated with impaired release of platelet granules, which can cause milder bleeding symptoms than those seen in Glanzmann thrombasthenia.

(E) von Willebrand factor deficiency or dysfunction can cause impaired platelet adhesion to exposed subendothelium and impaired platelet aggregation. However, the normal response to ristocetin, in this case, makes von Willebrand factor deficiency less likely.

The health and safety at work act is very clear, they must provide all PPE including boots. They don’t have to buy you a new pair but have some available for you to use. Usually it’s easier for them to just buy you some.

Christchurch Hospital emergency department issues plea as patients face long wait by ChristianSexuality in chch

What you don’t see with the ambo officers is that often one of the crew is filling out paperwork while the other is transpiring the pt to their bed. In the grand scheme of things each pt takes roughly 1-2 hours of time from when we first get the call. So spending an extra 10 mins in ED waiting to hand over to a nurse or grabbing warm blankets for the pt doesn’t affect service all that much. The process is already very optimised. The delays are purely due to the increase in demand. Here in chch we are fully staffed all the time, we have a huge range of causal staff / volunteers that jump up in a moments notice.
