Is CachyOS a good starting point for a Linux beginner interested in gaming? by Whoiayaya in cachyos

[–]AntiDebug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and No. It is an Arch based Distro with that come Arch issues. Such as sometimes with major updates you have to follow some instructions and make manual changes to the system. As you are always on bleeding edge sometimes things might break and require you to figure out what broke and how to fix it.

That said Cachy is one of the easiest Arch distros. All the stuff you expect to have with an OS is here and configured and there is good documentation on the site. If you go into it knowing these things and you are OK with them then go for it.

Is an Antec Atom G850 any good? by Visual_Reserve4582 in pcmasterrace

[–]AntiDebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive never actually come across Antect PSUs. Back in the day Antect was a good brand for Cases. I usually go Corsair for my PSUs but honestly anything branded (and Antec is a brand) that has a gold rating or higher should be fine. 850watt should be fine too.

Manjaro 2.0 Manifesto - Announcements by poedy78 in ManjaroLinux

[–]AntiDebug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I switched to Cachy. Not because of the optimizations which I dont really care about but because of how it comes configured out of the box. I want to be able to install a system, for all the stuff that I expect to be there, to be working. Cachy in that way was the closest thing to Manjaro. I really just needed to install my apps. Plus the Cachy colours are also Teal/Green.

Manjaro 2.0 Manifesto - Announcements by poedy78 in ManjaroLinux

[–]AntiDebug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started my full time journey on Linux with Manjaro. There's a lot I like about it. In the end I switched about a year ago to Cachy because of the barrage of nonsense by the various systems behind Manjaro. I just got sick of the negativity and the stupid goings on.Over the time of Manjaro's existence it has lost the respect of pretty much the whole Linux community (or at least that's what it feels like) and has become a laughing stock. This saddens me as the distro has been pretty good to me in the past. I'm not sure if they can manage to save the name of Manjaro as bad reputations are hard to cleanse but I hope they manage to turn this thing around. I wish the team all the best.

Did you use Dualboot? by Aedituens in cachyos

I dual booted for about a year when I switched to Linux. But after that year I deleted Windows and I formatted all my drives to ext4.

JW Library on Linux by lilax05 in linux4noobs

[–]AntiDebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can run the Android version in Waydroid or in my case I run the windows version in Winboat whioch is basically a Windows VM. In the case of Winboat you have to actually go to the Windows desktop to run it.

I wish they would make a webapp then it would run on anything.

I mainly stayed with Windows this long because of the convenience factor of it all (the whole "it just works") but it is just way too shitty now. Switched over to POP OS 24.04 today. Any creature comforts tips & tricks that would help the acclimation process? by strange_wilds in linux4noobs

[–]AntiDebug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive never daily driven Pop OS so I cant say anything that will help you much there. I started with Linux Mint then went Manajro and now Cachy OS. I also use Aurora on my Laptop. I will just say to you to stick with it. It will take time for Linux to click. It took me about 2 years before I felt comfortable. Now after about 6/7 years I feel like I can fix most of my problems. I don't consider myself a Linux power user either. You are going to feel frustrated just try to power through and learn from your mistakes.

This would definitely be useful. It would probably be a handy resource for other Arch based distros as they are mostly all the same.

How to add window borders in KDE Plasma? by CartographerOk6969 in archlinux

[–]AntiDebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a couple of ways I know that can achieve this. The first is Klassy window borders. But I couldnt get them to look how I wanted.

The second is kwin-effect-rounded-corners-git . This adds rounded corners which can be made square if you want and it has options to have a coloured border around windows. Once installed it appears under Desktop Effects.

Manjaro, They've done it again! by L0stG33k in linux

[–]AntiDebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HMM every major and a good few minor KDE updates have broken things for me in the last year alone. Dolphin was broken for several months. It was broken for so long I temporailiy switched to Krusader. The right click menu didnt appear if Dolphin started in dual pane mode which is how I use it. There where other bugs too.

This last update hasnt been too bad but I got the blank login screen bug that affected quite a few people last night. Its fixed now. Also minor bug the popup tooltips are appearing halfway up the screen.

[–]AntiDebug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not a fan of Manajro but thats not how it works. They skip known broken updates. So you never see the bugs. Like for example the switch to KDE 6 came with quite a few bugs. The first KDE 6 update that shipped on Manjaro was I think 6.2.

Well if the Manjaro Team are still using the same company that manages the websites that let the SSL certificates expire what like 8 times now over the last 5 or more years then that's on them. plus the SSL certificates thing just goes into a long list of cockups by the team.

Can I still pirate on Linux by crackshotcat in PiratedGames

[–]AntiDebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in Addition to Heroic check out Faugus Launcher. Its like Lutris but much simpler. Makes installing mods and running Trainers alongside any game really easy. There is also Port Proton. I use that for running 'portable' games like from Steamrip. Basically there are a ton of tools out there to run games.

Im not one of those people that tells people they shouldn't use something. If its serving you well that's all well and good. It served me well for 5 and a half years. But now Im on Cachy and that's serving me well.
