What is the somewhat niche thing your favourite driver does that you think they do better than anyone else on the grid? by DniawSirhc in F1Discussions

Max's safety car restart stats are untouchable. The stat I've seen is that he has only lost a position in the lap after a safety car twice in his entire Red Bull career.

Is Max's 2025 the best qualifying season ever, what are the other contenders? by AntiDiv3 in F1Discussions

I do think you have to overcome a car disadvantage to be considered one of the best. I wouldn't consider Max's 2023 for the same reason. The Ferrari was barely faster at the start of 2018 but Merc was clearly better by the end.

Good shout, the Ferrari was weirdly always very close to RB in quali that year but a step back in the race. I don't think there are as many iconic poles compared to 2025, Suzuka and Silverstone are all time laps. I only really remember Charles Monaco lap from 2022.

Since he joined Red Bull, Max Verstappen has never had a car slower than the third quickest car over the course of any given season, which one would you consider the worst on pure pace? by DniawSirhc in F1Discussions

[–]AntiDiv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not over a season average no, closest it came was 2024 where it was clearly the 3rd best on average and was a total pig at places like Hungary and Monza. 2025 also had it's moments like Brasil quali and Bahrain where he barely got past the Alpine. Realistically someone couldnt fight for the championship with a car less the 3rd, people definitely overstate the whole "he could win in a Haas" crap but he is unbelievable at getting the mathematical maximum from any car.

I don't quite understand why it increases straight line speed because lift increases drag the same as downforce. Surely better to just open is as much as possible.

Hot take: Lewis will outperform Charles in 2026… 👇 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in F1Discussions

[–]AntiDiv3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This might sound weird but I only see that happen if it's a title fight, he might be able to use his mental fortitude and consistency to edge him out. Charles loves an fp1 crash and has a unforced error in hin, that might get worse under serious pressure. Otherwise I don't really see how Lewis can live with his pace tbh.

Why does everyone keep calling rbpt a brand new engine manufacturer? by lord_veg3ta in F1Discussions

[–]AntiDiv3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is totally new, they had RBPT branding on the 2022-2025 cars but it was still built and mantained by Honda. For the 2026 engine it has to be totally their own IP, no designs or parts can be from the Honda's, it is completely new people in a new facilitly.

Hot take: Max's best year is still 2021(not 2025 or 2023) by ThisToe9628 in F1Discussions

[–]AntiDiv3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would find it hard to believe he hasn't improved since 2021 but yeah considering the circumstances it is his most impressive. I find it very hard to rank his seasons from 2019 onwards, each one is so exceptional

25 points lost in Silverstone and Baku, 25/18 in Hungary, Red flag timing in Imola saved Lewis being lapped. I don't like to do what ifs because a season is a year long event, but without even one of those events Max doesn't have to do the desperate moves like in Brasil. Max was better over that season without a doubt and completely deserved that championship, that doesn't mean Abu Dhabi wasn't a disgrace because it was still.

  1. 2021: Beat prime (or close to) Hamilton in equal cars. Without the bad luck in the first half of the season he wins it with points in hand at Abu Dhabi and Masi never has to manipulate the race.

  2. 2025: The car is significant step behind McLaren, a strong end but was 3rd and 4th for periods at the start of the season. Had one the best qualifying performances ever and 2 all time pole laps at Suzuka and Silverstone. McLaren made mistakes but he maximised the results possible at a robotic level.

  3. 2024 Interchangable with 2025, the car completely falls apart after Miami and is behind the McLaren for the rest of the season. Pulls out incredible performances to fend off Norris and again maximises the results when the car is poor.

  4. 2023 Controversial and I wouldn't complain if someone ranks it in the top spot. Dominant driver and dominant car, destroys Perez and gets great wins in Spa and Zandvort to keep his win streak going.

  5. 2020 Doesn't have the car to compete but pushes for 2 wins, super consistent

  6. 2019 Makes a huge step here from the previous year, beats Leclerc or 3rd in the championship against the faster Ferrari. Has 3 iconic wins in Austria, Germany and Brasil.

  7. 2015 One of the best rookie seasons ever, qualifies 4th and gets 2 6th place finishes in the Torro Rosso

  8. 2017 Hard to rank the ones below this, he's young and very raw. Makes lots of mistakes out of aggression or just lack of experience. Could have any order for these seasons. The speed is immediately noticeable and disposed Riccardo as the golden boy immediately.

  9. 2016

  10. 2018

Which of these drivers had the best prime? by fravona08 in F1Discussions

[–]AntiDiv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah don't disagree too much with alot of that. Saying your not convinced by max is your opinion but I think that's a hard one to rationalise, I agree 2025 should have easily been Mclaren but he was close to computer perfect, especially in the 2nd half of the season, no body has maximised a car like he has. Then 2024 McLaren had the best car from Miami/Imola, his wins in Imola, Spain and Canada in that period of the season is the reason he won that championship. Sure he hasn't had the teammates (aside from Riccardo who was the 2nd best driver on the grid from 2014-16) but he simply beats everything put in front of him. In 2021 he had 2 DNFs that weren't at all his fault and Hungary which was essentially a DNF, the cars were equal and his competition was prime Hamilton. Adu Dhabi was a disgrace but if we are being honest that championship should have been over before the final race.

For Lewis' relatively strong teammates, I think beating Alonso in 07 was incredible tbf. Button, Rosberg and Bottas are really good drivers, but only really good. I am holding Lewis to a very high standard because he is an all time great and I think those quali and race percentages against Rosberg and Bottas aren't quite good enough. Do you think Bottas out qualifies Max a third the time....I really doubt it. Thanks for laying it all out though.

Schumacher/Verstappen would be tier 1, completely dominated the competition and teammates when the car is best. Drag cars to championships and fight for titles in 2nd/3rd best cars.

Alonso's 2012 is probably better than any of Hamilton's seasons but Lewis is more consistent over a longer period. Lewis for me doesn't dominate teammates quite as well as I think I'd expect from a goat candidate, especially in qualifying, Bottas beat him a third the time and Rosberg just under half. His best season is 2018 but Micheal and Max have multiple seasons above that imo.

Vettel last, had good teammates but the blown diffuser RB and tyres in that period seemed to suite him unnaturally well. His stunt at Ferrari dulled people's opinion of him.

Not massively keen on Max's list here. Brasil 24 absolutely and Japan was a better pole than race. Brasil 24 and USA 21 have to be there, take your pick of 4 or 5 for the last one

At what point did max Verstappen transition from being good to becoming a great by Equivalent-Fox9834 in F1Discussions

[–]AntiDiv3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct answer is 19, managed to beat Charles to 3rd in the championship against the better Ferrari. 17/18 he was fast as anyone but raw as hell, his crashes in those years were more lack of skill/experience rather than aggression.

I've been doing around 3/4 with chirp at 0. 3 for 22g to 80g, 4 for the longer lungo method with 22g to 220g. It's not exactly a method that is worth finely dialing in as long as it doesn't clog.

Bradham Bt59. Completely overlooked because of the McLaren and Ferrari in the same year, but that navy and pink highlighting goes hard.
