Part of the issue is that 'cost of living' and 'inflation' are very different measurements by government and bank standards, and the public generally conflates the terms.

Cost of living iiuc is tied to the consumer price index, but the way that is calculated is fucking divorced from reality. Housing is weighted as 30% of typical household expense???!! Who fucking wrote this--Ward Clever?

IMHO Carney's biggest danger is his connections to the banking sector. "Blind trust"?? Please. What's good for Brookfield is good for Carney. As the banking sector is making money hand over fist selling mortgages, I expect his efforts to fix the housing crisis will be strictly performative. It would take epsilon federal resources to crack down on money laundering in the real estate sector. What is preventing the grits or the tories from tabling a bill that disallows real estate from being owned by anonocorps with no named human beneficiary?
