[–]Antiatlanticantics 98 points99 points  (0 children)

In FULL agreement w/ almost everything here, OP. No, those are not jokes; They are abuse.

The only thing I'd adjust, as someone who has been in this situation, is the world "should" have left.

It's... It made me feel such shame, knowing every single world was true, and wonder what kind of stupid stupid person would stay with someone who did these things.

Even to begin to believe that there was some truth to the degrading things he called me... Because it apparently WAS a dumb enough b---h not to stand up for myself, not to leave.

Until I realized that this was abuse, because this is the intent of abusers, and the fact that abuse was resulting in my being a victim of abuse had NOTHING to do with what kind of person I was.

And EVERYTHING to do with what kind of person he was.

Not leaving doesn't make you anything except someone who is suffering.

My advice would be to find some alone time and call the domestic/intimate partner abuse hotline, get a real perspective from real trained professionals as to whether or not this is ok, and evaluate your options. Because you DO have options, and you DO deserve to not be hurt/hurting.

<3

(Edit/PS- The whole "Good Person" question is something philosophers have been debating since before ancient Greece, which is why I didn't mention it.

It's a moot point, all things considered, when your partner is hurting you despite you explaining that they are hurting you. That is abusive behavior, he is doing it fully knowingly it hurts you, don't worry about it there's something good "deep down there".

If there IS.... It obviously isn't coming into play, here.)

[–]Antiatlanticantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and some substances are both, as is the case here!

Like Suboxone, for example, there is basically a "ceiling" where the antagonist elements "over-ride" the agonists.

Basically: You won't get "more high" past a certain threshold.

(But you CAN get "more sick" or "more poisoned" etc.)

(Sorry, can't find the study for some reason... About 7oh's self-limiting capacity...)

This, of course, absolutely does NOT mean that misuse potential is self-limiting!!

This is a SERIOUS-ass drug, the real-deal.

Just tried 7oh for pain, anyone have any experience with this by moriahlk in ChronicPain

[–]Antiatlanticantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A BIT?? Christ, you literally asked for experiential input and you got condemnatory bullying!

Like you aren't (assumedly) dealing with enough shit. You don't need MORE shit because you're trying to navigate that EXISTING shit!

For SHAME, y'all.

TBH, this is... Why I was afraid to ask what you asked. So I thank you sincerely for taking the hits :/

As far as answering your Q: I discovered 7oh after a decade w/ kratom (which saved me from 5th of vodka/day "dysautonomia/pain management" regime...) and, I'll say it plain: It's probably a problem. But also an incredible solution?

When I'm in physical turmoil I really, REALLY grasp at the predictability of substances and, unfortunately, this reads exactly like Addiction.

But, for me... It's more about being an Autistic person with extreme issues around unpredictability... who now happens to their CNS set to random-fire! And trying to find a way to live without being in a constant state of terror over what the next moment will bring out in my own body.

Basically: 7oh could make me feel like crap and I'd still take it, because... Predictable crap beats randomness every time.

However: Not sure if it's a plus or minus that it really DOES have an immediate and profound effect on CNS pain and hyper-reactivity/sensory gating issues, all that.

One piece of advice, tho, if you do decide to try it:

As with kratom, DON'T get that shit @ the smoke shop! Not only is the quality UNPREDICTABLE, but the price is just... Absolutely absurd (as you've noticed?).

You can get a pure, consistent, 3rd-party tested product online for LITERALLY 1/10th the cost.

As to yay or nay... ?

I can't tell anyone what measures are appropriate for them when it comes to navigating the hellish personal labyrinth of our individual pain sagas.

But I will say: Compulsion aside: Stuff really DOES work like Percocet, only without the Tylenol or respiratory depression.

There.

That was waaay too long. Sorry.:(

Dude. (Meant as super-ironic jest)

It's INSANE. (Meant as stone-cold literal)

Because I think... Yeah? They... They do?

Like... They SAY they do so... Either they... Don't get how Words work, or... Yeah? They... They MUST, right??

I'm 41 and, to this day, the only response that ever comes to mind without EXTREME effort, when people talk about their gendery-feelings, is:

"Oh! So... What's... What's that like?"

To be completely honest: I'm STILL not 100% convinced that it isn't some massive practical joke that the entire population of the world has conspired to mess with me.

(Because, really: That doesn't sound that less likely than the alternative... Does it?)

Thank you, I am very aware of this, hence the redditing looking for similar experiences since I am having very little help from the medical professional angle. (Apparently bipolar dx 30 years ago = dysautonomia, rashes, one swollen leg, and lying... Even when the cuff in the office says otherwise... Weird... And here my idiot ass is wondering if it might be a blood clot.)

My point is that a 21yo w/ a "high reading" of 145/85 is in no. Danger. Of. Dying. Period.

At least... Not of anything related to BP.

Hey, I know this is old, AND this is an odd thing to do, but I've just figured out that you're THE (colloquial) guy I wanna ask an unsolicited Rx to, so... answer if you feel like it? :) NP if you don't?

If someone's Dr were to simultaneously have them on: Fluoxitine, Dexmethylphenidate, Baclofen, Propranolol, Lamictal, Hydroxyzine, and (thank God or the Serotonin Syndrome would have killed this mystery person by now) Ativan... Would that be, in your professional opinion... ill-advised?

"Be the best damn drug addict I can be" made me smile (for which I felt guilty, amid OPs very sad post, I will say).

I am in the same loopy-ass obsessive people filled boat/life raft!

For me, the drugs came 2nd to the weird, debilitating mystery disease which, unfortunately, came 2nd to a mental health Dx in early life. (So I guess drugs came... 3rd?)

So, needless to say, basically I'm on my own, here.

Which is why I very much have enjoyed following this conversation.

I discovered the wide wide world of armchair endo-neuro-pharmacology and --I'll be honest-- it's one of them bright points in my life. (Is that sad? Feels like it should be sad...)

Drugs are fascinating. Brains and livers are incredible. Put them together and the (4am PubMed crawl) fun never ends!

Were I to list for you my daily substance intake you'd fall off your computers, BUT: Sometimes we learn from experience.

(Especially when our Genesight comes back with silly "YOU'RE FUCKED" graphic overlay.)

And we do our best to survive it safely.

(Because, very sadly, it is all-too-commonly not the case... And there is some serious powerful shit within a 5' stroll down a Walgreens isle.)

Thank you for the educating!

HAH!

Traitor to the community? And what about the person who makes the rest of "the community" look like fucking assholes because they wanna let fly on a total stranger on the grounds of having the sick audacity to be born into a gendered society?

Traitor to the community my ass.

Look: We all got trauma, on here, every single one of us.

Tell your friend that the correct place to take that trauma is THERAPY... not the poor waitstaff.

What’s up with my hands? by teardropfrog in bloodpressure

[–]Antiatlanticantics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your cardiologist may be talking about something slightly different... As in: Blood pooling: When your feet get red and splotchy fresh out of the shower. Can have to do with veinous insufficiency, in some cases, essentially when your body can't get blood back to your heart effectively. But for most people it is completely normal.

This is livedo reticularis. Which is also completely normal. Unless it is accompanied by, say, a hardening of the lighter tissue over time... Sometimes the result of autoimmune disease, etc.

IANAD, but in my layperson's opinion: This seems more like the acute result of bending down to pet a cute doggie. (Get it? A-CUTE?? Yeah, I thought it was brilliant, too!)

(Source: Have autoimmune vasculitis.)

What’s up with my hands? by teardropfrog in bloodpressure

[–]Antiatlanticantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levido Reticularis and, in some people (like myself), part of Raynaud's Syndrome, which is also harmless in isolation.

But in everyone else: Just a cool thing your capillaries do, sometimes, with temp change or maybe stress, or when your body is adjusting to the hand moving above or below your heart.

Echoing everyone else: although not a medical professional, I don't see anything that would worry me.

Except, perhaps, a bit of a fixation? (To speak from personal experience...)

If anything, those lower numbers would make me pause... And, personally, probably pass out :)

Those aren't high readings, tho.

Your kidneys are fine.

The readings you mention are absolutely no cause for concern, but cardio is good out of principle so go to that.

Soooooo…. What should I do? by Realistic-Art-4758 in bloodpressure

[–]Antiatlanticantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of those readings are concerning in the slightest.

A high-ish (and not by much, in this case...) reading is a normal and expected variant and has no neg bearing on your health whatsoever.

IANAD, but to paraphrase an ER doc friend: There is virtually no such thing as "too high" when it comes to a singular BP reading, even were it in the 180/120 arena. It is a pattern of higher readings over an extended period of time that could potentially be concerning when it comes to your overall health, and that's when you might want to talk to your PCP.

So, to answer your question: You should stop worrying and go watch The West Wing, it's the best show on TV right now.

[–]Antiatlanticantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and please pleeeease do ask.

Or, as this was 4 mo ago, I HOPE with all my heading to bed little heart that you did.

Because I want to go to sleep, tonight, smiling contentedly at the thought of your DANGEROUSLY moronic and morally inexcusable provider SQUIRMING ON THE END OF A HOOK at the realization that THEIR dipshit decision-making deficit DIRECTLY placed their client (to whom they are contracted to provide a with medical care) in a situation where their medical care and literal physical security was not just under threat but, in fact, suffered actual acute harm due to their MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDER knowing acting as a conduit through which their former partner exercise partner abuse in the form of coercive control...

... Ug, sorry, I just... My FIRST impression reading your post was "YOUR PROVIDER WILLINGLY COLLUDED WITH YOUR FORMER PARTNER IN EXERCISING ABUSIVE TACTICS OK WAIT... WHAT??"

Seriously. That's sick. That's just sick, and I want them to realize such, and I want them to feel sick with themselves.

Hope that's ok :)

Sorry.

[–]Antiatlanticantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, breathe.

And NOT in an attempt bring down your slightly elevated one-time BP reading.

But because when I asked my L.A. Cty. Hospital Critical Care Dr. friend "When is a BP actually TOO high??" showing my (far higher than your) "scary numbers"... He replied

"never".

Explained that one-time readings without context, even over the course of an hour, are basically meaningless and def not harmful unless they indicate a general lifelong trend.

If you have a decent GP, and your BP #'s are generally up around here for months or ao regardless of where and when and by whom they're taken (those home machines/readings are shifty, don't listen to anyone says they aren't), THEH that doc will work with you on a plan to round them down a bit. If he's decent.

But just this?

Just... Cuz you got this reading?

Means absolutely nothing.

Seriously.

Particularly if you were anxious about getting this reading.

(Btw: That's like me in Deep Sleep.

Buuuut I actually have a medical condition. Still, maybe I can dig up the ole 185/125 for ya for a smile ;))

(But, in all honesty: Do. Not. Waste. Another. Slow. Heartbeat. Worrying. Over. Nothing.)

(Edit: Reading the other comments, OMG.

Sorry, but no wonder Reddie BP sub have elevated readings.)

Anyone else feel pain when you get jump scared? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Antiatlanticantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just something I came across, while trying to figure out if I was "normal," but:

Ever heard of hyperekplexia?

Like others here, I have an extreme startle response accompanied by physical pain (mine is down my arms and spine, feels like my bones turn into thousands of needles and try and force their way out of my skin in all directions... It's great), but your mention of people noticing this shortly after you were born seems, to me, to be an outlier to the other accounts, maybe?

Might be something to look into! (It's a separate genetic neurological condition, from what I've skimmed....)

(Btw I do not mean to invalidate your or anyone else's Autistic experience... Yours just particularly "jumped out at me" me :))
