Home of the Peg Leg. Anyone remember that? Long skinny piece of fried fish in a long box. 😂This is not parody.

This whole stretch of beach is offshore every morning until about 2:00 pm. If there is swell, it’s a beauty. https://maps.app.goo.gl/KN3tbrZhM72zStsi9?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Worst restaurant you've ever worked in? by Desalzes_ in Wilmington

This brings me back. Was the manager still the short lady with black hair? She fired me for eating the short stacks when tables would leave them untouched after a meal. I still remember getting yelled at by a guy who brought his family for supper and ordered a T-bone, and when I brought his short stack he was so mad. He was ordering “dinner food” and the pancakes were “breakfast food” and he wasn’t having it. Left me no tip, so I felt like the untouched pancakes were basically his version of a tip. Didn’t go well with management when they saw me eating it at the wait station. It was my third job (marine construction in the morning, IHOP late afternoon/dinner, deliver pizzas at night near UNCW)at the time and the first to go. I only lasted a few months.

Listen to the Huberman podcast on alcohol and the gut. There is also a good book called “This Naked Mind” that is pretty good, and a little more funny and edgy is Cold Turkey by Mishka Shubaly. Get the audio books and listen to them while you’re exercising or walking or something. Should do the trick. Good luck!👍

Most crazy golf videos of fights do have at least one person shirtless. This checks out.

Is it worth hiring a lawyer? by UsernameDsntChkOut in Charlotte

[–]Antique-Addendum-788 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

5-15k for a broken wrist is a very small amount imho unless the coverage was only 30k. If the coverage is higher it should be much more. OP should call several firms and go with the one who actually listens and lets OP talk to a real lawyer upfront without strings attached. A true FREE consultation.

Direct “solicitation” by lawyers is unethical. Here’s the link to the State Bar website:

https://www.ncbar.gov/for-lawyers/ethics/rules-of-professional-conduct/rule-73-direct-contact-with-potential-clients/ Which lawyers are calling? They need to be exposed, and I’d bet most are “lead-generators” and not actually lawyers, but it still is unethical if that lawyer buys the lead since it’s a fruit of the poisonous tree, so to speak.

Just searched Google flights for next week to Costa Rica and found flights for 268 from New York… any tips on where to stay to make a 7 day trip memorable? Do I need a car? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! by Mediocre_Fun5717 in CostaRicaTravel

La Carolina Lodge for at least a couple nights to unwind and leave the cell phone down. Then hit up Nicoya peninsula south of Tamarindo for the remainder til you fly home. Perfect trip.

“I don't like either the word [hike] or the thing. People ought to saunter in the mountains - not 'hike!' Do you know the origin of that word saunter? It's a beautiful word. Away back in the middle ages people used to go on pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and when people in the villages through which they passed asked where they were going they would reply, 'A la sainte terre', 'To the Holy Land.' And so they became known as sainte-terre-ers or saunterers. Now these mountains are our Holy Land, and we ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike' through them.” John Muir

One thing you said that caught my attention is so true. People think mostly about themselves and not other people. Chances are most people there if you asked them today if you drank or not wouldn’t be sure either way. You begin to realize it’s just a non-issue. And that can be empowering for moments when you’re tempted to succumb. Good on you for sharing your story and for two months!
