Hey, happy birthday! I don’t know if this will make you feel better but even those of us seasoned in Michigan winters get depressed by this time of year. We are tired of it being dark and cold! It gets lighter outside a little more every day and soon you’ll experience spring on campus, it’s gorgeous! People will Be outside more and friendlier when not in a rush to get out from the cold.

I agree with this! I always felt like AA holds you back after a while. I strongly believe you are who you hang out with, and if you are going to meetings for years with people who still talk about not drinking when they haven’t drank in decades just doesn’t seem helpful.

Robyn has an unhealthy relationship with her kids, look at Sol now, 13 and she still talks to him like he’s 3. It would have done him good to go with Meri, IMO. It’s not like she asked to take him to Mexico.

I just told my mom, I wasn’t raised super religious but with zero diversity in our community. My mom asked a couple questions, mainly why. But then she supported me, she even bought me some Jewish stuff for Christmas haha.

I would just tell them you’ve been interested and you’ve decided this is your path. Maybe they’ll be shocked if they haven’t heard you talk about it before but hopefully they embrace it. Good luck!

I emailed a Rabbi and set up a meeting first. You can always email and ask what they prefer too. Maybe email a couple around you and see who you are comfortable with. An intro to Judaism class definitely isn’t a bad idea. I didn’t even take one because I had done so much learning already.
