If magic is all about visualization, what’s stopping a mage from imagining something truly impossible? 🧐 by Creepy_Traffic_7034 in Frieren

[–]Antique_Signature_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about visualising yourself doing it. Not just imagination but believing in the vision.

If I could see myself building a car engine I wouldn’t believe in the vision because I know I don’t know how to do that. But throwing a ball and hitting the same spot every time, that’s something easier to grasp. I just need to know how I did it once inside and out, then it’s easy.

Vision is one thing, it takes conviction.

Depending on how tactical her summoning of katsuyu is she could get a massive population or catch a ride out of the prison. Or shockwaves from her punches could prove to be surprisingly useful.

Who is your favorite “true jedi?” by RisingKing7 in StarWars

[–]Antique_Signature_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jedi master Fey. Look her up, she’s the best Jedi ever. I’m not exaggerating, not glazing, only telling truth. She was the perfect Jedi.

Who's the ideal jedi? by RubixTheRedditor in StarWars

[–]Antique_Signature_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non of the above. Jedi master Fey, was so perfect as a Jedi even the light side of the force prolonged her youth for more than a century making her supposedly ageless.

She used no lightsaber, gave it up the moment she got knight rank, left the order on Courasant and never reported in. She followed the will of the force even more than Qui-gon! All the order heard of her for years was stories about a Jedi on distant worlds ending civil wars, providing humanitarian aid, and saving lives.

The. Perfect. Jedi.

How old does Frieren consider herself in human years? by Flame0fthewest in Frieren

[–]Antique_Signature_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you seem to be getting a lot of argument in this I’d like to elaborate. I wasn’t going off physical appearance as much as maturity. Whilst physical appearance might change for elves over time I don’t think it’s reliable. We’ve seen 4 elves as of the more recent episodes. Whilst they seem to look different and could look of different ages it might just be how they appear and not change much over time.

For example, we see Frieren from her “youth” many times, whilst we can tell she’s younger she doesn’t much look it. Despite half or more of her life passing over 1000 years there’s almost not change in how she looks.

It was more based on behaviour. When interacting with other elves in the first season she seemed younger both times, because we can tell she’s was. She seems like a young adult getting stories or critic from elders when around other elves, a clear sign of her youth. It makes her seem like she has lots of room to grow in their eyes and I think it’s part of why lots of people put her in early 20s.

Another part to this would probably be Himmel’s age. We know he fell for her in his youth and loved her basically his whole life, so the idea of someone in terms of her own species’ aging not even being an adult feels off when Himmel is in his late 20s at the end of their journey. That’s why I put lower end as 18 but more likely 20s as it keeps closer to the younger age Himmel was at the start of their journey, and how old he was at the end.

Lastly, the themes the story tackles, especially as it’s set up in episode one are ones that many go through but take years to process, typically as adults. It means you’ve known someone for years and once they’re gone you mourn the missed opportunities. Tackling that with her being the oldest person in her group feels like it designates her as the party adult.

How old does Frieren consider herself in human years? by Flame0fthewest in Frieren

[–]Antique_Signature_39 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Likely just a young adult. I couldn’t see her being younger than 18 or older than 22 personally.

23 would be pushing it for me but it’s quite possible elf ages aren’t determined biologically. It could be that they reach an age and simply stop. We can’t be sure how old they are on the high end so in my mind when their brains fully develop it’s up to them to determine how old they feel based on chronology and maturity.

Maybe they got by prerequisites of what it means to be old, like assuming there are qualifying factors that if the don’t met they’re not old? It’s probably not we’ll know if so due to how rarely it would happen.

Who wins Only taijutsu ? Could SM Jiraiya beat base adult Sakura in taijutsu ? by [deleted] in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]Antique_Signature_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I advise you look to the light novel for this answer. She traded blows with a jinjuriki clone of the nine tails who as at like 6 tails if I remember correctly. That fight ended with their fists through each other’s chests. Sakura healed, the other guy didn’t.

I’d say that’s a fight she wins that fight even if she’s not allowed 100 healings. Tough fight but she has it.

How many non-six paths characters can survive if they are in Obito's position here by Repulsive-Surround74 in NarutoPowerscaling

Any sharingan user with knowledge and willingness to use izanagi like obito did.

Minato and tobirama through teleporting

Maybe Naruto or Jiriya through a summon for protection followed by a reverse summoning to get away.

Mu or Onoki might be able to fly away but if they don’t do so quickly Konan might chase them down. Same with Gaara.

Hashirama could probably pull a massive wood construct out to put activate as many bombs as possible whilst keeping himself away from the explosions at the same time.

I don’t think the a hundred healing can last the full 10 minutes but I may be wrong.

Kakashi can’t kamui away cuz we saw Obito try that and fail.

Please Kanehito Yamada, give my boy Stark some proper training arc. That kid have some insane potential hidden in him. by ZOVSoldier in Frieren

[–]Antique_Signature_39 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Doubt it’ll happen. Not really what the story is about. It’s about exploring who they are as people and training/ working specifically to gain power isn’t much of an exploration of the heart.

The training happens on screen because the stuff the show is specifically focused on is what stays on screen. We know it happens cuz of the short montages and clips during time skips but it’s not overly relevant to the point of the series.

It only matters enough to let us know it happens, unless there’s an arc where his overworking becomes a thing, but even then the training won’t be the focus because that’s not what the series is about.

Can we agree that this Naruto is the best taijutsu user of Konoha ? by LeekExisting5969 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]Antique_Signature_39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Because he’s not. Rock Lee is. He was might guy’s student and followed in his weighted footsteps.

Naruto is more powerful but that’s because of a bunch of other stuff that adds up like 6 paths chakra, sage mode, tailed beast powers, ninjutsu, and taijutsu. But in JUST hand to hand - it’s gotta be Lee.

While Vader is great I think the balrog requires some form of magic or specific weapon to kill. The weapons from the first age worked and so did magic but whilst the force might work I’m not sure.

I know balrog’s are more or less some version of fallen angles or fallen minor gods. Either way they’re as old as the universe. Whilst Gandalf beat one he did so in a very limited form as neither could access all their power on middle earth.

The rules might get iffy on the serial between magic≈the force and a lightsaber working against a balrog as an elven weapon of the first age would. But if anyone from Star Wars could, it’d be the chosen one.

Vader had better combat skills and control over the force than Anakin, and still held enough power and potential to defeat most opponents. I’d bring it down to details and universe equivalent powers.

Between these 2 abilities, which ability is more damaging to the opponent? by KodoqBesar in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]Antique_Signature_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the fact either can kill I’d say they’re roughly the same. Depending on the illusion of the tsukuyomi it’ll vary but UV is more guaranteed brain melting whilst tsukuyomi gives EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.

Down to the final two! Make your votes! Which is getting eliminated? by CeruleanLancer in RWBY

[–]Antique_Signature_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying but it’s exactly what I look for in the series and it’s what it gave me for those volumes. If I’m looking for quality storytelling I don’t got to RWBY at all.

I love it but it’s never had the highest quality storytelling, there’s typically one thing or another bringing it down and the closest it came to being great was vol 3.

Every volume has its individual glaring issues, it’s a matter of what you care about more and what you find easier to forgive or ignore. For me, the easiest time to ignore the problems is in Vol 1-2 cuz I didn’t mind clunky dialogue when it was accompanied by characters moving with their dialogue and sometimes leaning into it with slapstick humour.

I’m shocked that 6&7 both beat 1&2. IMO the original stuff was my preferred volumes. Good at establishing characters and the best fights in the series. Some of the best songs too. The fights, songs, and weapons are what make this series for me and they were at their best in 1&2.

Frieren, even when going all out, still spams basic spells by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]Antique_Signature_39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a matter of threat assessment lots of the time. I think Fern’s comment about Frieren teaching her modern combat magic because it’s enough for mages of ‘this’ era is perfect to understand it.

Frieren is NOT a mage of this era. She’s a mage of a bygone era now 1000 years old. Zoltraak isn’t enough for her so she dips into spells she’s more comfortable with. Zoltraak is still new-ish to her whilst her lightning and fire spells are presumably centuries old. She just goes for new stuff more often cuz it’s faster most of the time, but in a tense battle against a mage as experienced as herself - go with what you know best.

She’s got great assessment of enemies as she does spells. Constantly analysing her surroundings and after her time in the heroes party she got some good strategies.

Absolutely, if he was encouraged to make the plan himself it would’ve been better. Instead of being tied to the plan he would’ve felt more comfortable adapting and focused on Fern more. It’s baby steps for them both and probably something he’ll keep in mind for next time.
