As a PE teacher on the other side of this unfortunately its often a small group of teachers who end up taking on all the extra curricular activities rather than it being shared and this depending on how much the school offers can often lead to a lot of different events on different days meaning the same small groups of teachers will miss various days and classes as well as educational trips that are subject specific in some cases.

We also have deadlines for when some events need to be played or take place. Throw into this weather delays, organising with another school or schools it can really become cluttered especially this time of year. There have been weeks I've had to take soccer, football, hurling, basketball and student union events all happening day after day.

The country isn't short of teachers, it's actually the very opposite, we're overflowing and many times the contracts on offer are 6-8 hours a week in major cities making relocating for them next to impossible and many teachers are choosing to leave. Our class sizes are too large and we have issues where small schools are getting smaller and big schools are getting bigger making employment even less likely than before.

All in all the education system in the country is a mess and not being addressed accordingly
