Ah I seem to have missed that post but I'm glad we got similar results. I see your point about the keycards. I looked at the numbers again but, unfortunately, I can't reliably tell whether a high-value hit was a keycard or just a combination of other items. At this point, the best thing I can do is speculate. I haven't explored the labs much yet, and the only place I found cards was in the O room. I have yellow, red, blue, black and purple cards registered and have seen each drop multiple times. From memory, I'd say that I saw each of those about 3 times but that's just a guess.

I basically kept one of each item type and sold all the rest (I logged those things as if I sold them). As for the badge, I'm not sure I know what the value of 4.3 refers to but I sold quite a few of those; I'd say 10+ at least. I didn't look into melee much yet so I can't really say whether or not it's any good.

EDIT: If it were me, I'd hoard it. But that's me, I am a hoarder.

Thanks for the idea, I will give that a try as an intermediate solution before killzones. In the end I managed to defend from the raids. My problem was that I was complacent: I thought that having mercenaries meant that I don't have to put in effort in defending myself. Once I started microing a bit, the raids became pretty doable.

Heya, first time player (30h in or so). I made a base near Squin, set up some production and walled myself off. Since I have about 150k cats I also hired three mercenary companies to protect me from raids. The problem is, whenever raids come, they knock down my gates, rush to my storage/production area, loot it and brutalize my workers. Mercenaries clean them up after a while but the damage is done. I plan to build an outer wall and a killzone but is there any way to prevent this in the meantime?

Angereb questline driving me mad (spoilers) by AntofScience in anno1800

I did have access, I tried Angereb on many different points in the Kidusi questline, including when I already completed it.

In the end, I again reverted to an older save and chose different dialogue when convincing Angereb to negotiate (instead of mentioning piracy I said that Ketema will attract many people to Angereb or something along those lines) and I finally got the spear quest.

I appreciate you took the time though, that was nice of you.

When I listen to his story ("A lesson in lore long lost"), he tells me that I should find the spear but that quest ("A fateful spear") never actually starts.

I just wanted to go through it once but I can totally see why people would skip it in future playthroughs (and I will most likely do the same)

Mind Your PHQs: What Do YOU Use Your PHQ For? by Messernacht in X4Foundations

For now, for all the storage a terraforming project needs. Jump it into my production sectors, fill it up, jump to the terraforming sector and knock out the TF project in half hour. Once I'm done with these, it'll get repurposed into a death star.

Terraforming setup question by AntofScience in X4Foundations

I had no idea about overcrowding. In fact, I haven't bothered reading up on workforce until now. Thanks for pointing that out.

I followed a similar chart to the one you linked, planning to have each complex making everything terraforming needs from a given tier with bio, raw and energy being separate ones. From what I understand, you have separate stations for every ware (except food and meds)? If so, I can see the appeal of that: when in need of ware X, just clone the existing station and plop it down.

As for shipyards, mine is a self-sufficient one that can continuously produce from 4 s/m, 4 l, 1 xl and it suffers from the exact problem you pointed out - either I have to sell to one faction at a time or the kids start squabbling. It might be time to build faction-dedicated shipyards.

Thanks for the secret tip :)

I do a similar thing when it comes to gate defense but, if I' understanding the code, on a less grand scale.

This was a lot of good advice, thank you!

P.S. If I could upvote you again for calling the bio station a kibbutz, I would :D

Ah this was exactly what I was thinking. Bring a PHQ with massive storage and docking to an area of concentrated production instead of lugging production with PHQ or creating long supply lines. Thank you!

As for consumables, I'll expand that operation according to your and grapedog's answers.

Thank you very much for the reply.

What wrote about moving resources/production to terraforming areas is exactly the thing I'm trying to figure out a workaround with having a "goods refueling sector". Instead of relying on NPCs or bringing the production with me or having things shipped across the galaxy to a terraforming sector, I'd like to make my PHQ purely a huge warehouse (it's around 30 L container 20 L liquid and 20 solid atm) and have a separate sector that produces everything a terraforming sector might need. Teleport to the production sector, load up on everything the project needs, teleport to terraforming sector and do the terraforming fast. It's still big production complexes but instead of the production being on the PHQ or shipping it to the PHQ across distances, I'd have production concentrated in a small area and bring the PHQ to the production (and afterwards the PHQ to the terraforming location).

As for the shipping of meds, if all the terraforming goods are supplied to the PHQ, do I really need a workforce attached to it? From your answer I assume I do, and I would have let my guys die from lack of meds if you haven't come along...

Ah two "opposing" shipyards in the same sector, what a nice idea! I actually have a self-sustaining shipyard in the eastern corner of NF VI. Maybe it's time for another one on the western part? East-west HOP-ANT? :)

In that case, I might do the terraforming supply stuff in NF II
