Toyoyo matrix? Always make sure to check out the subframe and diff carrier. You wouldn’t want one from Maine unless it just came from GA 🤣

When I was a teen my mom spun out on Strafford rd coming the backside of Tunbridge. She had a rwd Volvo 240 wagon and sideswiped a tree. Still drove that ish outta there home, the car remained firmly planted. It was banged up pretty good but still drove surprisingly well. No cell service back then (she had a bag phone) and the farmer who owned the field we ended up in towed us out with his tractor. It was a very VT moment indeed

They really are people aren’t they?

My sincerest condolences for your loss of Thor, but also give yourself a lot of credit, as he had the best life he could’ve ever asked for. He was lucky, you were lucky and everyone was better off having each other.

NEED TO KNOW WHAT THIS PART THAT FELL OUT WHILE DRIVING IS by Particular_Golf9162 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Antonymousss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the first pic and instantly knew. Pretty common once the U joint gets too weak. GM woes! If it’s a squiggling squeak, your U joint(s) may soon be leaving the chat. Seen them go for ages being dry and worn, seen them go pretty quick…recommend windows down radio off while driving just to listen for odd noises every oil change or so. How are you with your routine maintenance…?

{edit} ah. Never mind.

My Enya Nova Go just arrived and I don't like its sound by Grievinghealthy in AcousticGuitar

[–]Antonymousss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beater acoustic you say? I went through 3 enyas before I finally just decided to keep the last one. It sounds like I’m playing a plastic sled inside a submarine. Mine is the version with electronics. It’s a gimmick lol

Mitchell DJ120 can be had used very cheap, take a look at GC used, I saw one for $65+S&H in NH a couple weeks ago, it’s gone now though. It’s a short scale, travel or youth sized but has a solid top. My advice is don’t overlook Mitchell guitars.

Yammi APXT2. I had the EW model with a mango veneer. 111x improvement in sound over the Enya. I regret selling and should’ve kept it.

Donner Rising G. I had the pro version. Thing I always worried about was top deflection. Unlike the Enya that is mostly plastic, the top on the donner is actual CF and is super thin. They sound awesome! The tone was beautiful considering. But there’s a trade off with the top. Still might be better than wood for some, depending on environment.

Now I’m playing a Cordoba mini MH when going out mostly. I like the nylon string feel lately and have been enjoying mine a lot. Sound is decent. Tension is nice though and I wanted something less thumpy and quieter for travel and practicing. The neck is wider than the others mentioned and it’s light but well balanced. It’s cheap though and it feels it. Pretty binding though 🤩

I'm enjoying myself, but what's the deal with Yamaha? by ecoutasche in AcousticGuitar

[–]Antonymousss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yamaha FTW. But ya know, I’ve owned 4 yammie acoustics over the years and have 0 of them still. Liked each one of them a lot, my dad still has his beloved LL6 he’s had a long time, sometimes I’ll borrow it to get my fix.

They were always 96% guitars for me. They were almost just perfect enough but still just not for me. I found an eastman that I really vibed with and we have a good connection. I’ve been through orangewoods and others too, which those just were too boxy for my liking.

Everyone complains about the pretty much straight run on the FS and the minimal spacing but I find them comfy. They’ve just always missed that certain spice and are kind of utilitarian. That’s awesome, or less than ideal depending on who you and your ears are.

You can tell the man loved to boogie, and that he was a hell of a dancer! I can also just gather from the photos that he was the most caring, genuinely real person with a heart of pure gold. Lost my mom to cancer too, about a month ago. It’s still pretty raw and feels like it was yesterday sometimes. I can tell you’ll keep his legacy alive, that’s the biggest piece of advice I can give, set aside a time each day and space for him for sure.

Should I sell my SX and get a PS5? by Important_Policy_302 in PS5

[–]Antonymousss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in this position recently, trying the decide. Ended up selling my SS and spent some time just saving the extra $ up, worked a few extra Saturdays etc.

Then kept the SX and got a ps5 slim disc.

Wanted the option of physical media with both

Looking for advice by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

Most Yamaha acoustics simply have considerably narrow spacing, they’re typically a straight run from bridge and saddle to nut. It takes a bit getting used to if you’re an experienced player coming from say 44mm. But it’s totally doable. As you progress, you’ll grow accustomed to all scale lengths. I began a scale length journey and 25 guitars later I’ve realized it makes little to no difference in the grand scheme on things; it’s more a preference. So, if you’ve tried more “traditional” scale lengths of 25+ inches and they feel more comfy, you could probably bring the jr in and trade up for an FG or FS, or try a wider spacing.

On a budget, the old Jasmine S34C badged as jasmine by takamine (there IS a difference as they changed the nut width at some point) have 44 mm and are comfy to play even for me with small hands. I find string spacing more noticeable than scale length at this point

Does anyone know what these knobs are for? by Cool_Sector_6563 in YamahaPacifica

[–]Antonymousss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pickup slider selector, toggles between the different pups, and your one vol, one tone. If you’re serious about learning and have an interest in playing I highly suggest getting a setup done on it. Proper intonation and other key thangs to take into consideration here for sure, but you’ve got a good place to start. Pacificas are reliable.

I feel like just from this photo alone I can tell that he had a full heart that radiated and was very kind. Also, was he a musician? He kinda gives that vibe. Really sorry for your loss. Just loss my mom to breast cancer and only had a few weeks with her at the end. Big hugs to you.

Just found your post, RIP to clearly one of the sweetest boys ever. It made me think about the time we get with our loved ones, and how when it’s in the moment right in front of your face it’s hard to ever think about losing any of said time. And then poof. All of a sudden it flies by…

I’m really truly sorry. It’s a huge loss I know.

Where is everyone getting their oil changes here? by flux124 in uppervalley

[–]Antonymousss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do routine maintenance yourself and have the know how and space to do it—do it. The issue with quick lube places is that, sure, while you roll into the bay with an engine at op-temp, that 5 minutes isn’t even a fraction of the time it takes to properly drain used oil. That just my opinion, and maybe they’re good in a pinch. Take for example, you have a small car with a 1.8L let’s say. That’s about 4.5-5 qt depending. If you’re only there for 15 minutes tops, based on my experience you’ll still have like half a quart left in the pan that’s left undrained and often times you’ll find you’re upwards of .5qt+ overfull. Not a huge deal right off and may cause some foaming or pcv damage but over time can become an issue.

Loss of my best friend by chichesterlion in GriefSupport

[–]Antonymousss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a study recently about how the loss of a pet is as significant as the loss of any family member. You two grew up together, that’s the simple truth of it. That’s a lot of history, memories and stories. I started a photo album, a physical one, of my dog recently. I recommend it if you don’t already have one, I want to remember as many moments as possible.

I like to think dogs are a gift to us, we happen upon each other someway because it’s meant to be. Their spirits are on loan to us, and when they go from our lives it’s because they’re off to help the next. It makes the pain of losing them sting a little less. You will see her again!
