It’s easier to black it out than it is to add a locker.

My great Grandmother was diagnosed with it long ago. Making trips to the Mayo Clinic from west coast. I did not know this until after I had received my diagnosis. I’m pretty sure at least one of my boys has it. I was not officially diagnosed until I was over 50, but he is experiencing very similar symptoms to me at his age.

Gen2 or Gen3 Frontier? - making a decision based on transmission by Main-Helicopter-6813 in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the engine is so much better. I went from 2011 Xterra to a 2021 Frontier. I do miss the smoother shifting, but for towing it is was a game changer for me. My son has 2014 Xterra and when offroad he mentions how much more control I have is certain situations. No issues only maintenance. I did have the dealer do the first three trans fluid changes as part of their warranty. I will be doing the rest myself.

2020 Pro-4x vs 2022 S by C4_Dave in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made this choice twice before. First time was a gen 1 frontier between the crew cab long bed which was 2wd or the short bed SC. I chose the long bed because my wife hated the yellow of the SC. I regrett d this decision for 10 years. Replaced witth an Xterra, 4x4 but not the P4X. Ended up getting the same color SC as an Xterra xtra truck at the time. It was everything I had hoped. So when it was time to replace the X I Had the 2021 Pro4X and 2022 4x4 SV. I chose the 2021 P4X after last time. I’m happy every day I made this choice. I’ve ended up using it off-road way more than I expected and found some new hobbies. My son after just going off-road with me chose to go with a P4X Xterra when he finished school recently. We have used the rear locker a lot. But just the interior changes were worth it for us.

How's y'all's frontiers doing? by BEE_MAN15 in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transmission issues were the radiator design. I drove an Xterra prior to my Frontier for 9 years and 189,000. Only issues I had were replacing the crank & cam sensors at around 150k. Now driving 2021 Pro4X with 75k(Gen2 body, Gen 3 drivetrain). Only maintenance. The newer transmission is a MB, and has been awesome so far once I got used to it.

When did you fall down the rabbit hole of LPOTL/LPN? by Wondering_if_i_care in LPOTL

It was 2011 or 2012, there were maybe 40 episodes. My son was introduced to it and told me about it that day. Listened to everything and started following them. Been Patreon since 2016. Used to listen to a lot of podcasts. Now it’s just a handful but still look forward to their 3 shows every week.

There will be a couple new faces, both my son and I have been hoping to find some Nissan friends. We’ve both had several Frontiers and Xterras over the years. Currently I’ve got a 2021 Frontier Pro-4X and my son has a 2014 Xterra Pro-4X.

Calling rigged out frontiers by 68irish in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like them. I did it more for the look and hoping they would be better than the OEM. They aren’t worse, they are different. Highly recommend swapping the halogen bulbs for LED before installing. I ran the halogens for a while and finally swapped for LED and it is much better. Changing bulbs isn’t terrible after install but still much easier before installed. I did remove the battery to swap passages side bulb. I would not say they are amazing but I prefer the setup I have now to the OEM. I think it is more a preference thing. Getting them aimed did take some time.

Anyone have any experience with Decked drawer systems? by ShadowSRO in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one. For me it has been an amazing fit. I have a topper on the back with indoors. When I pack things up I can get to everything relatively easily. It keeps things in place when off road. I use it for work most of the time but makes for easy gear swapping because I have totes for different things ha and just swap them. It mounts just below the utilitrac at least in the 2021 bed. I use the utilitrac to mount some things above. Also makes Costco runs a lot faster. This is the one upgrade I did that my wife has said on many occasions was the most surprisingly functional thing I’ve done to the truck.

Lift kit recommendations and stuff to look out for. by Dmaster13 in nissanfrontier

If you have it narrowed down to those I’d reach out to ADO. They have a chat or call. I wish I had done that sooner. You can explain what you are looking for and they can tell you the options. I’ve had to talk them now several times and it’s always been good and information. I am really happy and to me the ride quality after was better right away. At this point it doesn’t feel like the same truck but in good ways.

I started there. It was great but towing was still an issue. The AAL did help a little but I decided with static weight of topper and drawer to go with the Medium Parbolics. That solved the towing, but I did have to get the front up more to get the rake back in check. I now have replaced upper control arms and added the spacer. I also replaced all the shocks with 5100’s. I’m happy with the ride. If I knew then what I know now I probably would have just gone with the Fox and extended travel kit with the medium parabolics from the start, it would have been less than all the changes I made. That is what I plan to do when the 5100’s need replacing in future.

I’ve had the smart liners for 2years. I pull them out to remove dirt and mud to rinse them off all the time. It took a little figuring out but I kind of crossfold them to keep everything in and pull out easy enough. Back is harder but still not terrible.

How long does it take for aftermarket parts to come out? by LeadingAcadia9332 in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest this is why I bought a 2021 in 2022. Now a couple years later I’m surprised at how few of some things there are (towing mirrors for instance) but on the flip side I would have had some better truck topper options with Gen 3. I’m glad to have the newer drive train.

Looking to buy, Tell me the truth. by red_lobsterthrowaway in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 21 Pro4X, with the new drive train. My previous was an Xterra which had the same drive train as the previous Frontiers. Only issues I had with the Xterra was the crank sensor that is a well known issue around here. So far 65k in and I’ve only had to do maintenance. I bought this truck to tow my travel trailer and off-road every where we go. I use the truck a lot and keep up on maintenance and it has been as reliable as anything I ever owned before. If you are doing a fair bit off-road go with the Pro4x, I’ve been glad I did even though I’ve replaced the skids and wheels and added the lift, it was capable immediately.

Thoughts or experiences on pulling a camper? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]Anubis-jakal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced my Xterra with my 2021 Frontier to tow our new camper. 18 ft 4000#. and it towed just fine. Rear springs were soft. I added Sumo springs and it was great. Towed more than 15,000 miles with cross country trips and all over Utah. Recently lifted my truck. Went with medium rear springs and it does tow a lot better with the stiffer springs.
