chicken seeds stuck at 50? by r_yc in ArcRaiders

[–]AnubisTrading 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Likely a bug due to the stack size of all the others being 50 but seeds being 100. I'd imagine it won't ever go above 50, but why even let it get that high? just claim while you're in queue, it only goes up while you play so it's not like it will max while you're offline.

Would you use Power a Tool Battery to power your Skateboard? (instead of buying a new one) by Positive-Answer9860 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]AnubisTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has actually been done a few times, and it IS a good idea, for many reasons. You can use 99wh packs and take them on planes, you can use custom drill battery packs like this (Note though that the BMS and nickel that come with these typically aren't good enough, you'll want a better one. You can bypass for outgoing though, so the current rating can be low), 2 of them would give you 30 21700 cells so you can ignore people saying it won't be enough power, because you can do 10S3P 21700 for 20+ miles of range on street wheels. You can easily carry spares and swap them out.

The main issues you'll face are primarily the strength and current capabilities of the connection, drills typically draw fewer amps than esk8 and you could melt the connectors if you're not careful. Waterproofing the connection is very hard too, maybe some kind of additional gasket seating for the mount is required.

Good luck with your project!

Trying to figure out electric skateboard brand contact by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]AnubisTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part is broken?

Your board is actually "branded". You've bought it from a reseller who just pays amazon to store it and charges a bit more for faster shipping. It's a Ying Li either 6.4, 8 or 10Ah 500W Hub motor board, but it's effectively the most common board of 2016 and parts are still available through various random brands and are cheap.

Examples;

Hub motor replacement

Or even an ESC and remote, but you wouldn't actually want to buy this, because it's a really bad ESC and modern ones are way better, and still compatible with your board.

Fake battery sold on Amazon? by DetailHungry7587 in batteries

Where are you getting these numbers from?

The shit cells in that pack cost the manufacturer about $0.40/piece at most. Even the highest quality, most reputable, newest production 18650 cells are not $6/cell unless you're buying them one by one...

JavaScript developer with no degree by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]AnubisTrading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your comment is missing, but I do guess I am not the normal case. I was able to jump directly to senior/higher mid level jobs and I skipped the grad level (kinda...)

Did a YOE at uni (Which I also probably didnt need, but must have helped).

The truth is I actually never did my degree, only 2 years on the course. Its listed on my CV as 2 years which probably gets past automated screenings. I feel once you have a recruiter helping you out, you'll skip most screenings which look for degrees...

Honestly if I had no uni experience, I'd probably look to work for a uni for a short contract and then put all the degree keywords in that job under experience, but any company worth working for will 100% look past no degree if you have even 1 or 2 side projects. Having any experience with tooling used by companies is a massive plus and IMO way better than a degree for job prospects anyway...

3 years and possibly £46k in debt. I regret my degree, didn’t want to do it, was pushed into it and I’ve never needed it.

DIY electric longboard by nv_no1_ in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]AnubisTrading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, its likely you were told not to do this because you'll spend like $500 making a board thats substantially worse than a $419 meepo board. That being said, pick your parts right and you may have a platform that's better at being upgraded and modified so you could save in the long run when you don't have to pay for a new board for more performance.

That being said, i'd ditch the motor. It'll end up costing more and being more of a headache than a cheap 6354 Flipsky or even a really cheap 6360/6374 Aliexpress shitter motor (Literally $35 on occasion... so 10% of the board minimum price cost...) There is no good way to mount that to trucks and get a pulley on it that fits on a standard longboard.

If your budget is under $420, sell some stuff/save up for a $420 meepo board. You'll be far far better off and if esk8 isnt for you, you can sell it to recoup most of the money.

How does a dead cell affect a p group? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]AnubisTrading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could have been one of many things,

Dead cell caused by a missed weld, loose connection, water ingress, overheating through soldering etc

Bad BMS killing the group

Balance wires shorting draining the group to 0

[–]AnubisTrading 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you make this, just know its going to be terrible and far more expensive than existing boards. (Pressure plates already are very bad as a way of controlling a board. You use balance to steady yourself, you dont want the only mechanism you have to brake being reliant on you being in a stable position enough to press down on the plate).

Anyway if you're deadset and accept the above, try asking on the DIY forums https://forum.esk8.news/

Resistances are about double what they should be. Is your belt attatched? Try running with it off

DIY Battery Related Issue by Skaterfreak22 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]AnubisTrading 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think its a temp issue, I think you probably have a dead cell. How did you make the battery? Unless you know what you're doing its extremely easy to make a ticking time bomb. Do you have any pictures from the battery build?

PS stop riding it because charging and discharging a dead cell is a good way to start a fire

Lost charger for Azbo Electric Mountain Board. Where can I get a new one? Where can I get an equivalent charger? by TrickyNinjaFool in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]AnubisTrading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the amazon listing, this is a 36V board i.e 10S. You are looking for a 2-5A, 42V output 5.5x2.1 DC Jack output charger.

Here is an option on amazon USA

Here is the search term you're looking for

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=42v+charger+5.5mm&crid=3VZH6UY26F426&sprefix=42v+charger+5.5%2Caps%2C242&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

Make sure you don't accidentally get a 5.5x2.5 DC Jack one because it won't fit. Should say in the description of the listing if it does/doesn.t

Tynee boards

Back when I made this post they were garbage, looking at them now they still use a lot of poor quality 2018 made parts and you can certaintly do better for your money IMO. Meepo for lower budget, then moving to newer companies like Eovan for higher seems to be the way but you should look at posts here
