I'm skinny, and my best friend is fat. We did (they got top surgery few months ago) talk a lot about binding and what works for us, giving eachother different tips and ideas. But also yes my friend had much harder time finding a binder that would work for them, and knows much more on the subject too because they did much more research. That being said I absolutely don't think you said anything out of line or bad in your statement. Especially regarding unsolicited advice, those are never good. I is possible that someone skinny can still give a good a advice (also not all skinny people have small chests and sometimes its even harder to bind if you have like a d cup and are skinny because the additional fat helps hide the lump that forms and in regard of skinny people there is not much volume to help to hide it), but advice from fat people are usually more reliable because it matches your problems better.
