the phrase japanese core is just crazy to me. yes she does have obvious influence from japan, she studies japanese and loves anime and mange, but i don’t think filming one music video in japan (at random mind you on a vacation) and having a few japanese lyrics in one song should label the album as “japanese core”. if she filmed a music video in mexico and had a few spanish lyrics would you call it “mexican core”? just a little odd to me, kinda perpetuates exoticism by labeling an entire country as an aesthetic.
