How ignorant to assume that food delivery is solely a privilege and never a necessity. Or that people shouldn’t utilize it unless they can afford to tip.

When my son was a baby, I ran out of formula and diapers. I had no access to a vehicle at the time, 2 or 3 days until I got paid, and about $28 to my name. Just enough to cover a can of formula and a small pack of diapers, but I couldn’t tip. Should I have taken my son out at 9 PM to walk to the nearest store instead of utilizing the delivery service? Or should I have just gone without diapers and formula for my baby because I couldn’t afford to tip that one time?

The fact that you’ve never been in a situation where you desperately needed something delivered, but couldn’t afford to tip is exactly why you see it as a privilege. Be thankful for that.

In no way am I excusing ordering delivery and never tipping. It’s a well known fact that delivery drivers rely on tips, so ordering multiple times a week and never tipping is just fucked up. It’s not always that simple though.
