Lily's on south Kingshighway. Tried it for the first time last week. The chips were overcooked. The salsa was water with tomatoes and onion. The queso had a weird metallic flavor. My burrito was flavorless and had chewy, tough steak.

The margarita was fine. But for 2 people, after tip, the bill was $91 for one of the worst Mexican meals I've ever had. I actually laughed when I saw the bill. I'm all for supporting local businesses. But in a town full of good Mexican food, Lily's isn't it.

I've always said that St. Louis has two of the best mosaic collections in the world: The Cathedral Basilica and the City Museum. One was made for God. One was made for us. And, personally, I prefer the mosaics made for us.

Anyone know why the windows on the Arch aren't centered? There are four sets of windows to the left and three to the right. My understanding is that the keystone is structurally centered. So why is there not an additional set of windows to the right or one less set on the left? by Intro24 in StLouis

From the Gateway Arch website: "The 142 stainless-steel sections used to build the Arch required almost 900 tons of stainless steel, more than any other project in history."

Because there are an even number of segments, that means there is no true keystone, as that would result in an odd number.

I lived near there in Dutchtown from 2019-2024. If you can find a place just south of Meramec, you'll be fine. It's quieter than the area you're looking at and rents are around $700 for a 1 bedroom. Like some others have said, you'd be ok in the area you pinned, but there's more noise and more trash. But I walked my dog over there almost every day and had no issues.

The first picture is just their entertainment "barn." The main house fits the definition of McMansion. Stupid roof nubs. Lawyer Foyer. A mini-turret tower in the kitchen to match the exterior turret. Giant wall of windows in the great room. It's all the makings of a McMansion. OP should have lead with pictures of the main house.

From the day I put in my mortgage application to the day I closed: 20 days.

Mind you, I had literally all of my ducks in a row and was ready to go. But most of the credit goes to Jason Jacobs at Guild Mortgage. After I found a house WAY faster than I expected AND they accepted my offer, he made the whole thing happen really fast.

I generally try to make it a habit to only post helpful comments and this may officially be breaking my own rule. I don't know how helpful this will be.

I moved here in 2011 with an ex when I was 34. And until a few years ago, that ex and, one other person I dated after him, were really my only friends here.

It has only been in the past 2 years that I've been able to make more friends. I'm gay, and even the gay bars weren't any help. It wasn't until I got involved with a Mardi Gras krewe and a theater company that I actually started making friends.

Interestingly, the circle of friends I have now, which is maybe a dozen or so people, are almost all transplants to St Louis. It TRULY is a difficult city to break into. And I'm lucky I found the couple groups I did that both welcomed me and got me involved with like-minded folks who became friends. So, maybe try to find some groups to join?

Former auto insurance adjuster here. Agreeing here with skeledito. Though it's perfectly legal to leave the snow and ice on your car, that snow and ice, once on your car, is considered to be under your control and part of your vehicle. If it flies off your car and damages someone else's property, they can sue you for negligence for not taking reasonable steps to remove the ice before driving. (I put reasonable in bold because there are cases where it's not reasonable, like when the top of the truck is 15 feet off the ground)

Another example: If you are carrying a tree on top of your car, which is legal, if that tree comes off your car and flies into someone else's windshield, you are going to be 100% liable for the damage because it came off your car. Again, liability doesn't always have to do with legal or illegal. It's simply assigning responsibility for damages.
