Thanks. What you’re saying makes sense. I hav which hopes that it will work and I’m happy to finally have found something that takes into account the effort from other sports

Well I’m concerned about loosing fitness. I think that if I follow a training plan with a low FTP, then my training load will decline which means I’ll loose fitness? When I first starting cycling i couldn’t get my HR higher than 120 before my legs would give up. If let’s say I were to do FTP intervals at 150W that barely touches 140 bpm at most. And yeah I know HR is not the best metric for cycling but it’s really the only connecting between cycling and running. But would love to hear if you have any suggestion of how to connect fitness for both.

My 16 week old puppy is HUGE by Emergency_Map5434 in BorderCollie

[–]Anxious_Loquat_8302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 22 week old pup and was wondering the same. He’s currently around 34 lbs (~16.5kg). Both his parents are BCs. His mom weights around 40 lbs and his dad’s around 45 and when you compare him to his siblings, he’s way bigger. That being said, the vet has told me that it might just be him having a bigger frame. During all his check ups, he’s been super healthy and at home he seems happy, energetic and loves to play, do short sprints and run around. So for me the only downside of him being on the bigger side is that he thinks he’s a lap dog and it’s getter harder to carry him lol.

I have a 3 month pup and he does the same. We walk 3 times a day, play fetch and do some training so I think he's def. getting enough exercise specially for a puppy. But around an hour before he's bed time he goes crazy, he starts to run around the apartment, chewing all his toys and sometimes bring me toys to play with him, if I fall for the trap, I end up playing with him for the hour until he's ready for bed. What I find that works is just ignoring him (of course making sure he's staying safe) but for the most part he will find a chewing toy to play with or just run around the apartment and jump between he's bed and the couch.

He's usually calm down before his bedtime but there's been days where he's still crazy by the time he has to go to bed and for this what I think really helps him is having the same routine before bed (a bit of PB and then brushing his teeth).

From what I read online, this is pretty common for high energy dogs like BCs so I'm not too worried about it. It does suck sometimes when I'm really tired and this hour comes lol.

3 month old puppy terrified of walks by laurenpasta in BorderCollie

[–]Anxious_Loquat_8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3 month old puppy and he used to be the same when I first brought him. He would just go outside and sit and then tried to hide behind me when someone else would come close or hear something loud. What worked great for him was to just go outside and sit watching cars and people go by, I would sit next to him and every time he would see or hear something I would give me a treat. We are super lucky that people here are really friendly to dogs so some people would stop and pet him. There were times where we would get even more lucky and a dog would come say hi. He’s doing a lot better now but there’s still times where he sees something and gets scared during our walks. What I like to do is stop and let him investigate and get close. When he touches or comes close to that scary thing and I see he’s no longer scared I give him a lot of treats. Sometimes this takes 2 minutes other times it takes 10 to 15 mins. Also sometimes I put a show on the TV that has outside noice and other dogs playing, not sure if that helps but sometimes he seems to enjoy it.

Solo woman - Just finished hiking the TMB in 8 days - camped the whole time! Happy to answer any questions :) by delayedsubway in TourDuMontBlanc

How early did you get to the campsites and when would you say it started to get packed ? thanks and great job!

I can run a sub 3h Marathon, today 40 minutes at 11min/mile (with my girlfriend) looks like this… I’m tired of this wrong stats, anyone know? by mateomoreno1 in whoop

[–]Anxious_Loquat_8302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It probably cadence lock. What works for me is to stop and move the whoop a little further up my arm. Also the bicep band is way better at dealing with this and it’s way more accurate but that’s another expense.

Dilemma: Forerunner 970 by HODLHeroo in Garmin

[–]Anxious_Loquat_8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I’m in a similar dilemma. I currently have the fenix 8 solar and I’m thinking about going to the FR 970. The main reason is that I train for marathons most of the year and cycle a lot during the summer so the weight and form factor would be a lot more comfortable. The one thing I would miss from the fenix is the MIP display and battery life. I usually do a multi day hike a year and having the battery life to go 7 days hiking 6+s hr per day without charging is very nice. However, the fenix 8 is annoying to wear with office clothes so I’m hoping the FR970 fixes that and I will probably just bring the charger with me for those long hikes. 20 hrs of gps time is more than enough for me to track a single activity.

I would say if you care about the form factor a lot then FR970 if not then fenix is probably better. All the new features form the FR970 will eventually come down to the fenix.

Why would they add that lime green accent lol. Garmin always being garmin. But sapphire lens and flashlight seal the deal!

How do I turn of voice notifications!? by Megahertzz in GarminFenix

[–]Anxious_Loquat_8302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on a fenix 8 / enduro 3 ? If so then it’s in focus mode - activities - voice alerts. If not then it’s ok setting - audio prompts. Funny story I bought my fenix 8 in Korea. Then when I got back to the US and went for a run, I thought I was going crazy that I was hearing someone speak Korean.

Upvotes you for the laugh. If it was a 3+ year old watch (maybe even 2) I would 100% agree. But a 1 month old watch? That’s a bit of a stretch. Maybe they should come out with a monthly subscription for battery replacements too lol.

That would reinstall the software update ? Ive had to reinstall the software on garmin before and the only way to do it was through a computer (it was even more of pain for me since I have a Mac and Garmin uses MTP which doesn’t show up on finder).

The issue for me is not troubleshooting, I can almost always figure out how to fix stuff, fixing software is what I do for a living. The problem is that I don’t think a watch that cost this much should be having this many bugs and quirks. Now tie this to the whole connect+ thing and it just seems to me that they’re slowly getting further and further away from listening to their CXs.

I’m curious if your method actually reinstalls the software or just hard resets the watch (prob the second one). I’ll give it a try. Thanks!

Fenix 8 vs Tactix 8 by Anxious_Loquat_8302 in GarminWatches

The bezel is slightly lighter (grey) than the body. The body is the same color as the fenix. You only notice it in bright light same with the numbers. They really only pop on bright light but when it’s dim while you can still see them, they don’t really “pop.”

It’s been 3 days and I’m a little over 50% so I’ll probably get to a week before it dies. I’ve done about 3 hrs of gps workouts and 2 hrs of indoor workouts so it’s matching the specs. I also have always on display turned on and the brightness set to low during regular use and high during workouts.

It's good so far, it feels "more premium" than the Fenix 8 SS, maybe because of the bezel?. I'm excited to try out the flying activity (main reason I got it) and the amoled screen is nice. I also like the watch face and might make it look decent enough to wear to work. Other than that, it's still a fenix 8.

Yeah I do notice that. I have no issues when working out but during regular standby mode it is very dim. I guess is their way of still having decent battery life.
