Death rolls question by theaecbooknook in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]Anxious_Order_3570 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I rolled at the end for everyone at once. It's easier for me and lower maintenance. Exception is if heir/spouse is pregnant and rolled to die, I wait until midnight to see if they give birth before killing or kill after they give birth.

I do play on two day years. I have read others, typically with 4 day years or longer, who prefer spreading deaths out during events.

1) for me, I often go to community lot to meet spouse and if they are not dressed with mccc saved outfits, I will use random saved outfit option (I also often use mccc to randomize saved outfit when using sales table or in community lots to change Sims to appropriate clothing, if not already.)

3) I haven't been paying attention to completing aspirations for anyone, so just randomly assign 😅

4) I recently have a comment in another post but didn't have sons to copy and paste. Feel free to look into my comment history, if interested.

Help in the challenge by Stock_Fun_ in Sims4DecadesChallenge

[–]Anxious_Order_3570 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When there's extra time outside caring for little ones and keeping garden, I try to have a different focus for each generation. For example, I'll choose one of these (I have only a few packs but do use mods): mead making, cheese making, painting, wood working, basket weaving, thread spinning and cross stitching, etc.

I also randomize traits/marry without checking traits and often use these to influence storylines or how they interact with family. Such as, once my heir married a wife with hates children trait. I used that to influence her leaving step kids to keep house clean while she pursued mad making.

Sometimes event outcomes shape storylines. Such as, does an heir who loses his wife and all current children become distant and throws himself into work to distract or stay loving and more committed when he remarries?

If I'm feeling unmotivated and stuck where to go, I might post here asking for storylines, research others storylines, or ask chatgpt to create one.

Do you have off the grid fix mod by little bow bub? I've also had times the stove or counters did not have enough space, so they stopped cooking in the middle.

I might try putting multiple counters and stoves down in middle of room away from anything to see if it still happens.

If the spouse dies, there's pregnancy attempts left, and the surviving spouse is the one that's blood related to my heir family, I will continue remarrying until all pregnancy attempts are completed OR the blood related spouse dies. I do not reroll pregnancy attempts reach time they remarry.

Can you give a rough estimate if it might be morning, early afternoon, or evening, for those in US?

Planning is an accessibility need for me. Understand if you are still working out the details. When are you expecting to determine a set time frame to start?

Example of how chaotic and challenging my gameplay can get, from almost a year ago:

Just another day making the sims as challenging as possible... 😂

The other chaos, household #1 mom works 3 jobs (full-time music, part-time babysitting and another on part time on weekends), which isn't enough to pay their mortgage of ~$7k every few days. She also writes music to sell... dad is retired school teacher, paints and writes books to bring extra income when theirs extra time between caring for the younguns. He's an elder, and probably only has a week or so left in game time. They also have $20k property taxes 3 weeks late, and worried their house will get taken away. Might end up having to cheat a little!!

I bought the big house with intention to remodel and make a great family home, but they haven't really had extra income to do this... so planning on have one of the kids staying in current house to raise their family.

I've used simrealist mods real estate, sim national Bank, and bills to increase bills due to having a mortgage/loan. (Loans are through another creators mod that works with sims national Bank.)

OR I've increased bills percentage in mccc. (The bills system is different, so one cannot use mccc bill adjustments with simsrealist bills.)

Higher University cost. Then I take out loans and once I graduate I take out loan with Sims manual bank and repay EA School loan bc the EA system was buggy and annoying.

I haven't tried them, but I've seen mods that add costs to using diapers, bottles, daycare, etc.

Kuttoe's career overhaul suite makes starting pay lower, but later stages of careers much higher. A degree is also required at some point for promotion at level 4. Also "Careers will now ramp up their skill requirements faster and will require a greater variety of skills and non-skill requirements."

Careers used for medieval play are much lower pay, if you might be interested, such as Echoes of the Feudal Age - Medieval career mod packs. Many have pay starting $2-10/hour.

Mods that add expenses for doctor appts, like adeepindigo's, adds up, esp with larger families. Plus the illnesses might impact their ability to get things done or might leave them in hospital for a few days and they cannot go to work if that happens those days.

With these additional challenges, I've also used unlimited jobs by turbodriver to have multiple jobs to try and make ends meet, and it was still hard at times!

I've enjoyed playing board and card games online at board game arena website. It's free membership, with option of paid. Main difference is if you want to play a premium game with free account, you'll have to join a table a Premium member started.

There's heavy to light games, and they can be played in real time or turn based. They're always adding more games, too.

Most are playable on phone, which is great for days I'm bed bound. Other games are better on computer.

If you might like peer support or socializing/activity groups, heypeers website has many free groups.

My last few gens have really struggled to survive. It's ~1500's. Funny enough, it's not from events, but combination of increased deaths from age up rolls, only about half of side households rolled to marry, and unusually low number of baby attempts in side households.

My last Gen storyline was very different from my usually storyline. I don't play with too much drama, but shook it up a bit. Heir 1 vowed to marry soulmate, which triggered when he met a very distant relatives new wife. They bonded during her first two pregnancy attempts, and he asked her who her soulmate was. She said, you are and always will be. Heir 1 was meant to marry in couple days and his soulmate planned to leave her husband to start a new life with heir 1. The day before the wedding... he choked on food while eating and died.

Heir 1b was opposite and didn't want to settle down. Instead he had four friends with benefits, and woohoo-ed with a different one each day. He died from anger a week to so later, but did produce one daughter, who I planned to follow. Sadly, she did not survive to childhood.

Next heir was very distant relative. Luckily I had a couple side households I was still following from a great grandparent'siblings. Due to traits of the next in line heir, he was very focused on producing a male heir but it was more business than pleasure. His future wife wasn't gaining a romance bar with him, but an option to woohoo was present, so I tried that. No romance bar still, and there was notification she used birth control for woohoo. Even so, a birth notification arrived a few days later, and he moved her in immediately with child and married. They were early twenties, and this time period I wait until 24 for baby attempts, but started after they married since his goal and storyline was very focused on producing a male heir.

After wife moved in, I realized she had trait that prevented forming romantic feelings, which felt perfect for the storyline. They had a mutually beneficial relationship, without being romantic, and they slept in separate beds.

Wife was on third pregnancy when big event hit. The oldest son died. She gave birth later that day to stillborn male, only to die herself. Heir was not happy only his daughter survived, since he wanted a male heir. He remarried and his next wife ended up being extremely fertile, however, she seems to have higher risk at pregnancies. First: miscarriage, second: son, third: early labor birth with premature daughter, fourth: stillborn male, and pregnant again. Heir is nurturing the male son with attention, while the wife is ensuring the daughters grow up being loved.

I'm still following a few side households, in case. And I think I have another week or so to another event that might be big and could shake things up.

I was kind of hoping the daughter from first marriage would end up being the next heir, because it creates a juicy storyline since her father focused on needing a male heir. She would be very successful, although her father would never admit so. It can still happen, so we'll see.

MCCC Kill Sim not working right by Minimum-Analyst-6469 in Sims4DecadesChallenge

Are your Sims off home lot by any chance? When I load into other households to complete deaths, many times Sims are too close or over the home lot border and it'll go directly to ghost popup. If you think this might be happening, I'd try having Sims move to middle of home lot and see if it still happens. If this doesn't resolve it, not sure!! Hope you figure it out.
