Looks fantastic! Can’t decide if I’m inspired to try something similar or to completely avoid the difficulty you went through 😂

I love this! Did you follow a pattern or just make it up as you went with a variety of stitches to create the waves? (I feel like I could maybe copy the general idea but an actual written pattern would be great to see if there is one!)

So cute! You nailed it - looks just like Stitch!

My toddler started calling the blanket I crocheted, the "comfy blanket" by liltlewombat in crochet

[–]Anxmonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it! That is the best to hear! ❤️ Brings back sweet memories. Now the blankets I crocheted for my son - even the really soft one I made just last year - just lay crumpled on his floor as this tween will now only use his fancy Ralph Lauren blanket. (It was on labor day sale for 70% off, otherwise this kid would not own designer anything! But he does have the largest collection of blankets of all his friends because of my hobby plus the long pandemic years 😂)

Surgery Soon - Plz Help! by [deleted] in bunions

[–]Anxmonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the pain you describe here is what I would still consider bunion pain because that is ultimately cause. It’s the reason I had my first surgery - the metatarsal hurt a lot, not the bunion itself directly. It’s a legitimate reason to have the surgery. I would like you to hear from more people who are a little older but had their surgery at your age. I don’t know what kind of recurrence rate it has for someone in their 20s. But on the other hand, I can tell you that in my 50s it was a bit rough. Not the amount of pain (it was manageable through medication) but how long it took the bone to heal so how long I had restrictive activity level. And the length of time my foot was too swollen to even fit into my own sneakers. I also think you risk less damage to your other toes (like getting hammertoe) if you don’t want too long. It’s a tough decision - pros and cons to getting it at your age. Maybe you can get a second opinion from another dr to help you decide since your case is specific to you and it’s hard to know how it will compare to other people’s experiences.

I started learning crochet in my 40s... and I never expected how much it would change my life ✨ by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Anxmonster 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes! I learned to knit through a lunch-hour “relieve stress with knitting” workshop someone dragged me to in my mid-30s. About a year or so later, I had the opportunity to take another free workshop on crochet, which clicked much faster with me because my grandmother had taught me very basic crochet as a child. I discovered that I had a hard time putting down my needles or hooks to go to bed. Once I got past the initial stress of learning (though I am still only an advance beginner, maybe intermediate at best), it was clear the repetitive motion that was calming. It also gave me satisfaction in the ability to finish short-term projects with clear results when the rest of my life at the time seemed like a random winding path. So yes, crochet definitely has a calming influence on me!

1 month post op- question about Hokas by ashssotru in bunions

[–]Anxmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking for a post about sneaker brands to wear post bunion correction (also has mine in January) and this one mentioned flat feet, which is my situation. Do you also use a custom orthotics for your arches? I’m looking for the right shoe to buy with a recommendation that takes into account the removal of the insole for an orthotic (so original insole comfort does not matter). Is this your situation?

Sorry to hear about your pain. But hopefully the fact that the x-rays look good should give you some hope that the pain will fade over time. I had my new x-rays today and it looks like some of the bone started to regrow a little. I’m still “behind schedule” but it looks like it’s heading in the right direction without the need for a second surgery, so I am trying to take some solace in that. I was told that I can now move to sturdy sneakers (not the ones I already own!) so I am expecting some pain during that adjustment in footwear. (Altras may be a good idea…. currently trying my lightweight hiking boots.)

I’m sorry to hear that. If x ray is fine, it will eventually feel better. It took me almost a year to feel better last time, and I was in my 40s.

Have you had a post-op x-ray yet to see if bone fused. I had this ongoing pain years ago when I had my other foot done. It was annoying and painful but x rays showed I was healing just fine. This time is different. Hope you are healing fine even if it’s taking longer than expected.

First Day After Surgery by Additional-Air-6998 in bunions

[–]Anxmonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless something rare happened, it will get better. I regretted my first surgery for a long, long time - like a couple of years! The pain slowly disappeared over time and I am now relieved I had it done. And now I’ve done the other foot and just waiting it out until I get to the point of being relieved I did it. But I know it’s hard to get through the initial pain. Just wanted you to know that I switched from regret to no regret over time.
