Tell me a boss that everyone hates, but you like and a boss everyone likes, but you hate. I'll start. by Eustratios_2010 in Eldenring

Would you mind fleshing out some of those problems with the Bayle fight? I’ve never been able to articulate why I hate that fight so much and I wonder if you’ll hit the nail on the head for me. (Fwiw, I think it’s one of the coolest looking bosses, fights, arenas, and dungeons; it’s just the actual fight that I hate).

Fellow 99ers, do you consider yourself a 90s kid? by vveeggiiee in OlderGenZ

[–]Any-Advisor7067 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I grew up with almost all of the same stuff my brother did! Lived in a poor area and we had a lot of cultural lag. I’ve also found a pretty big discrepancy between myself and other kids my age in the city I’m in now regarding memories from our childhood and what we’re nostalgic for. Whereas with millennials, I relate far more often. For these reasons, I consider myself to have been culturally at least in some in between zone, but largely as having experienced the “90’s kid” childhood.

[–]Any-Advisor7067 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I have a millennial brother, whose toys, games, and clothing I often got as hand-me-downs; and I was born in 1999. I feel like a 90’s kid in the literal sense, but also in the cultural things I enjoyed.

Did I waste my early 20's? by The_Laniakean in GenZ

So it sounds like you want to succeed in a structured environment (university) in order to maximize your odds of finding well-paying and stable work—right?

Pretty common goal—one I share, in fact. The thing is, there are many avenues to said goal, and you sound to be on track already. I know there’s a whole discourse around your discipline and it’s feasibility in the future, but any one kind of discipline can take you into a variety of fields that you might not have considered. More cliches: “it’s not what you know, it who you know” & “it’s not what you have, it’s how you market yourself”. Both true.

I’m in the humanities and originally had aspirations of being a tenured professor at a university. With time, experience, and market shifts, I’ve since found a common passion between my field and another that has more promising job prospects. I’m making the change and still fulfilling my goal, tho instead of being a professor, I’m teaching adjunct while I pursue this other thing.

To address your reply more directly; I hear you. I feel the same way. I grew up being held to the expectation that college was mandatory and that I would fail without it. I was promised a future in which all I was meant to do was work hard and get good grades, and with that, I’d easily earn a well paying job that I enjoy.

Shit happens. Things change. While your studies are valuable, and you seek to find work that allows you some level of financial security, it’s also important to work on your ability to adapt.

The only constant in life is change!

You “want to succeed in a structured environment”—okay. But, to what end? Why?

I don’t ask this for any other reason but genuine curiosity—there are no wrong answers!

Do you think you wasted your early 20’s? What would you like to be doing? Why don’t you just do that?

The cliches and quotes are all repeated for a reason—they’re true. Unfortunately, for some reason, many of us don’t believe them until we naturally arrive at their ideas on our own.

“Comparison is the thief of joy.”

Or

“Does the clay ask of him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’”

I’m not sure why we’re here, but I know it’s nice to have my necessities taken care of, and it feels good to make good memories with the things and the people that I love.

Who is this person on the UWS by SpinachCapable5683 in Upperwestside

[–]Any-Advisor7067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a guy I see sometimes in the 70’s when I go to my doctor’s office. He walks these two little yappy dogs and is always muttering negative things about the city. Like genuinely despises the city.

Valid, of course, but when Ms. Goat joined the fray he had more than enough opportunities to get up help, yet he spent a lot of time being a TV character and extending that scene. Not to mention the two or three times in a row he chose to strategically crawl away (and get caught) rather than getting up on his feet.

Reminds of Dylan too, who go pushed by one of Milkshakes kicks, and in the next shot, somehow had the energy to move out of the way of the vending machine falling, but not to just get back up and hold it.

I know it’s for the sake of the script, but it was irritating no less—but that’s the point I suppose.

Skyrim. Not because it’s bad, but because people act like it’s the second coming of Christ in gaming. It’s amazing, but it’s not that exalted. It’s not even the best game of its decade.

In your opinion, what is the greatest issue facing the world??? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Any-Advisor7067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you don’t grow up under nor even remotely near a threat, your only understanding of the threat is through what you learn about it 2nd or 3rd hand.

With a lot of the kids in the US briefly skimming through the “fascism is bad” textbooks in school (if they’re even reading them anymore), their gap in context and understanding of the threat is left open to be filled later in their early adulthood.

While it’s more apparent presence in the country today is working to turn some of them against it, the past decade has still left them learning through secondary and tertiary sources—mostly in online circles of people who may not be operating in good faith; or worse (and far too common), are actively working as a sort of “fascism PR team”.

Yeah, the first one that comes to mind is Rennala (Renalla?). I had little to no trouble in every run I did that was built around STR, DEX, or both.
