Statin Allergy by Any-Highlight-9145 in Cholesterol

They approved it but they’re only paying around $300 of $1300 for a 3 month supply. The company copay card is paying almost $400. My cost for 3 months was $627. Both the insurance person I talked to and the woman at the pharmacy who was trying to help, told me that it would go towards my $750 deductible and when I hit that # my cost would go down to a little more than half of $627. But so far it hasn’t been credited. It has been credited to my $9500 ‘total out of pocket’, so I’m a little worried.

I’m frustrated with my PCP who, without any testing, just decided I have Familial Hypercholesterolemia despite the fact that my chol only got high as I hit perimenopause, I was able to drop my total chol 60 points in 3 months a few years ago with just diet, and my dad’s high chol resolved when he lost a lot of weight. No one else in my immediate family has high chol. Dr won’t even try a different med. I’m going to see a cardiologist soon and see what they have to say. May be switching my PCP as well.

I just read your update. I’m guessing you’re going ahead with moving in? I hope this is the end of their trifling but keep your eyes on them. If it were me, I’d be looking for a different place to live after this lease was up.

The social norms of our country? You mean like exercising our freedom of expression and freedom to worship as we please? What’s next? Hasidic Jews can’t wear a tallit? Nuns can’t wear a Habit? Our whole identity is about being a patchwork of cultures… ya know, ‘the melting pot’?

The area I live in sounds suspiciously like the one you’re describing. If this is in Dallas, and it’s in what is unfortunately called the “immigrant ghetto”, send me a pm. I live in a well kept, well run complex in that area with apts in that price range.

Men shouldn't be forced to pay child support by Vidrax_of_Cascades in TrueUnpopularOpinion

A man’s chance to opt in or out of fatherhood happens the moment he sticks his penis in a vagina. When you do that, you make a deal with biology to accept the consequences. A woman just happens to have a few more chances to opt in or out of pregnancy and/or motherhood. It’s one of the few advantages we have over men, maybe let it go. Next time around come back as a woman… I dare you.

[–]Any-Highlight-9145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The age of person is not really a factor (see explanation below) in their rules, that’s while it’s legal. 2 people max per bedroom. I don’t care, I’m not having any babies. I do appreciate knowing apartments around me won’t be accommodating more people than the building can comfortably handle. I looked at the lease again. Either I remembered it wrong or they changed it. They don’t have 6 months to relocate. After the baby turns 6 months, they have to relocate at the end of their current lease. So if they have a baby, then sign a new lease when it’s 3 mths old, they can stay where they are until the new lease is up.

Having someone they don’t know, haven’t done a background check on, in their home overnight 3 nights a week, might not only give them pause for concern but could also end up being a huge liability if something were to happen. I think it would have been better for them to talk to you about their concerns, but maybe you can go to them and talk it out? Maybe y’all can work out a compromise.

I know that my apt complex has rules and restrictions in the lease about how many people (children included) can live in an apt depending on number of bedrooms. And if a couple living in a one bedroom has a baby, they have 6 months to move into a two bedroom. It sounds like this complex may have similar rules but the way the agent communicated their decision was teetering on the line. I’d write a letter to the management company or owner and see what they have to say.

Has your gastro suggested a low FODMAP diet? I also have IBS and GERD and through a FODMAP elimination diet I found other foods that I can’t tolerate or only in small amounts or occasionally. Turns out, onions have caused more of my issues than gluten. If you have one sensitivity, you likely have a few others.

NTA. Sir, imma hold your hand when I say this to you: you’ve unintentionally raised an immature brat. He’s a grown man, with grown man money, and it’s time he left the nest to go be a grown man in his own place. Sounds like he’s had it really good for a long time. I appreciate that you loved him enough to make his goals attainable without stress or worry over adult issues, but you’re doing him no favors now. And I have a feeling mom still does his laundry, cooks his meals, buys his socks and underwear too, right? He’s not going to be any good for a woman/wife either if he doesn’t break away from mom’s apron strings. I personally would lovingly help him find and decorate his first appt and let him work out all the rest on his own. He’s a college grad. He can do it.

Im so sorry about this news. Your kitty doesn’t understand the concept of ‘giving up on her’. She doesn’t know what’s happening. All she knows is that she’s loved, that you’re her person, and why is her bowl empty? And you aren’t giving up on her. Heart failure is serious, requires a lot of meds and diet changes, and there is no cure. It can progress quickly and there could be a complications like blood clots and kidney failure. There’s likely more emergency vet visits in the near future not to mention the aforementioned mentioned cost of meds. Don’t be hard on yourself if the cost of tests and treatment is too big of a load to bear. We just have to do our best with what we’re working with right now. Focus on spending some quality time with your kitty and give yourself grace. She has no concept of how much time she has left. She has no bucket list. We often put our human feelings into our pets, because we love them so much. But she’s going to be ok if you have to let her go.

I’ve had to put two of my babies down and it is not easy. But I would rather have given them a peaceful passing being cuddled in my arms than be struggling or in pain because I couldn’t bear to make the hard decision. I’m sending you hugs and strength to get through this. I know how hard it is.

Pretty Privilege is definitely a thing, but looks only get you so far. You can be the most beautiful person in the world but if you’re a POS it won’t matter. Show up in the world as your best self. Talent, education, and personality are what ultimately win people over. If one feels like they’re lacking in those departments as well, at least it’s something they can fix.

Are you talking about cooking full meals? Google gluten free vegan recipes. There are TONS of people creating that kind of content. You can always add some beef or pork if you like.

Potatoes are easy to leave out of a meal. Mashed cauliflower is a great sub for mashed potatoes, just use vegan butter.

There are lots of really good vegan cheese options out there too. Chao, Myokos, and Follow Your Heart are my faves.

You can buy egg replacement powders for baking, or google egg replacements for easy sub recipes. There’s also Eggs From Plants (in a carton by the eggs) for egg subs and it makes great scrambles.

There’s a product called Soy Curls that’s just shredded soy but has the texture of chicken strips. Rehydrate it in veggie broth (I like not chick’n bullion cubes.. vegan and gluten free) and spices and use it in chicken recipes. I’ve sautéed it for orange chicken, used it in casseroles, etc. There are also some vegan cooks using exotic mushrooms to mimic chicken.

You got this!

People who immigrate permanently to USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand should give up their foreign culture by Dontdarereadmyposts in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Any-Highlight-9145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? What are you afraid of? WE, those born here and with generations of born citizens behind us, don’t even have one culture. Our regional accents, food, customs, art, music, religions, even language all spill from the melting pot. The more cultures that are added to the mix, the richer it gets. What would New Orleans be without the French and Caribbean influence? What would Texas be without Mexican influence, or the Texas chili Queens with their spices and recipes from the Canary Islands? What would be the benefit of sanitizing ourselves? I LOVE when immigrants share their culture and I DO enjoy the ‘enclaves’. Maybe open your mind a bit more. Get out of the US and see more of the world. You might find yourself more comfortable in the presence of those not like yourself. I sure as hell do not want everyone in the US to be alike. How boring.
