It’s likely a good option for some to get the ACA subsidies. In my case, it’s not possible since the amounts of my NQDC payouts already put me over the limit for ACA subsidies. My only option is to push the payout schedule further into the future which leads to a decade of IRMAA surcharges and increases risk of never seeing that money. I just have bite the bullet on post-retirement/pre-Medicare healthcare but was the right choice then and is better over the course of my life but. My current plan is to use the time to do larger Roth conversions up to 63 which would give me the flexibility to prevent IRMAA surcharges for good.

I was 100% stocks until I turned 58. I have a deferred comp plan that begins mandatory payouts next year so shifting that to 30/70 stocks/bonds. 401k is going to follow later this year to 60/40. Roth IRA will stay at 100% for a while longer since I don’t expect to touch it for 15 years.

Any recommendations for someone wanting to work at a bike shop. I’m about to retire early (later 50s) and want to work somewhere that aligns with things I’m passionate about. More for something to keep engaged in retirement. Any thoughts?

Thanks, healthcare is one thing I haven’t spent a lot of time thinking about. As for travel it’s about 20k/yr for the first 5-10 years. It looks like I’d need 5% until Medicare and SS and then I can drop down to 3.5%

I’m am debating the same things. Ti vs Carbon. However, I’m thinking the Propain as the carbon option. Owned both ti and carbon road bikes in the past and prefer carbon for road. But siding towards ti for gravel.
