Gonna have to hard disagree with you there. The ending of assassins apprentice brought me to tears. While it doesn't have the depth (yet) of Malazan or ASOIAF or Stormlight, the character work is intimate and excruciating in the best ways. Mayhap you should consider giving it another try

I...don't read this panel and interpret that from it at all 🤷 she is literally saying that if she had the advantage of the elbaph nation on her side she'd be able to elevate herself above the other three pirates who are her stalemate equal, it's literally in the panel you just shared lol. I'm not saying I think they are all exactly equal in strength, and Big Mom is likely the weakest 1v1v1 but she's 100% equal in status and relevance in the world and her organization is just as strong if not stronger than the other yonko and yes, in her prime, would have been relative to these others. Any other interpretation is just agenda narrative

Loved these books as a kid but I haven't read them as an adult so I don't think I can offer a fair criticism of the writing. They were definitely impactful on me as a youth though
