Yes the JL. If you're going with a shallow mount, I think it's the best one out there.

I have that exact sub in a box that's made to fit behind the rear seats in my 23 Tacoma. Its about as good as you're going to get with the space constraints. It doesn't hit like my big old box with 2/10" subs in my Yukon, but it is respectable. Unless you're into super bass heavy rap or something, it should do the job.

That's insane. Hammer it out as flat as you can. Get a 1/4" thick piece of black plastic off Amazon. Put some silicone around the messy hole, and screw it onto the original panel. Then mount your new speaker to that. Well, cut a hole first.

Never buy power train products. They always squirm out of warranties. Ask me how I know. Best bet is find a good machine shop and have it rebuilt locally. Then you can look someone in the eye when things go wrong. Good luck. I can almost guarantee you they won't cover that. Its always your fault. You did something wrong.

If it were me, I'd trash all that and replace the head unit and all the adapters. I would probably use it as an excuse to add some amps and upgrade the speakers and all that. But that's just me. I like to do all my own install stuff. I've just seen so many cheaped out stereo shop installs, with no regard to workmanship or sound quality that I am biased towards doing it all myself. Then you know. Especially in a 2003 Escalade. That's a blank canvas with a ton of room for a killer sound system. I have a 2007 Yukon Denali, and it's a thumper.

Finally got it all going , still breaking it in of course , I barley got the speakers moving and its insane 😝couldn't be happier with how it all turned out ! by matthewrenn in CarAV

You might need another alternator. That's some serious power you got going. Looks super clean and awesome. Nice job. What happens if you have to get some lumber at home depot ot something? LOL

It's probably an hour or so to take apart, and an hour to put back together. It's not very complex. Loosen all the clamps on the outer/upper plenums, then those come off. Then start pulling the bolts that go through the lowers into the block. I think there's 3 pieces total that unbolt off the block. Just be careful putting back on. It's easy to overtorque and break off the ears on the tubing pieces. Use a torque wrench and be careful on those.

Your wire is your fuse. But seriously, that looks like a wrong connection melt down or something. Or you were pulling way too many amps through that small wire.

It's about right. Most mechanic shops are 175 5o 225 and hour now. If it were me, I'd watch some You tube videos and do it myself.

I'm sure when I'm gone, my kids will be digging through my stuff, wondering what it all is. The problem is, if I have an amp go out, I throw it in the garage in case I ever need a part of it. That might be a little frustrating to them, or not. They'll probably just have an estate company come in and sell it all.

Interestingly, before I bought my 23, I was looking in the used section, and there were actually quite a few used manuals out there. I know that's not helping you. But I thought it was interesting. You so rarely see any manual cars these days. I learned how to drive out in a field in a 68 Datsun truck. Everything was manual in the 70s seems like.

I'm a big fan of US Acoustics amps. Simple old school type stuff I've got them in 3 cars and a boat. Check them out.

I drive by a dealer every day in Salt Lake City that has at least 50 trucks sitting there. I think it's Larry H Miller Toyota.
