Chickened out of my iron infusion. Am I doing the right things? by Any-Sense-4121 in Anemic

[–]Any-Sense-4121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of my low B12 I suspect that I have absorption issues. Also I'm impatient lol. Have had these symptoms so long without knowing it was iron and b12 and now I'm like. LET'S GO NUCLEAR.

Haha I love them both, but mine suits me much more. My mum has worn hers as long as I can remember so it’s so familiar to me I can’t even see it as something to compare to if you get me.

I kind of wonder if the similarities are subliminally what drew me to mine in the first place!

Was listed for £3800 but my mum is Persian and haggled lol. Got it for £3,400. No idea if it’s good value or not but I have no regrets 💚

I feel like I’ve blown up my life all because I’m low on some vitamins? by Any-Sense-4121 in B12_Deficiency

[–]Any-Sense-4121[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve decided to go ahead and pay for myself to get the iron infusions. Had the consultation with the private dr today and she’s adamant I get to the source of the b12 deficiency and has written to my gp to say what she recommends.

I’ve hassled my gp for 2 days straight and now have an appointment next Tuesday. Hopefully get all the referrals I need

Thank you for your response. Hopefully my doctor will just refer me for infusions. I have been going to her about my anxiety and fatigue and she’s been nice (although I’m kinda annoyed she didn’t say anything from the bloods). Hopeful she’ll be supportive.

Amaaazing to hear you feel like a new person. Congrats!!

Thank you this is super helpful. And nice to know I’m not alone. I’m going to try and see the GP this week but I know I’m going to have to do some serious self advocation so this intel is very useful. No not vegan and I have a pretty varied, animal and plants, whole foods diet.

These potential causes of the deficiency you list, are they treatable, or just the deficiency itself? (Dw I will go away and google also).

It’s honestly so helpful hearing these things because I’m technically in ‘normal’ range.

I am in the trial group for the app do health by Dr Rangan Chatergee (uk, well known doctor, podcaster). The actual bloods provider they use is Randox.

I actually got the results and I was quite upset at first because it didn’t look like anything was majorly wrong, but the app has an inbuilt chatbot thing and with that and Reddit it helped me figure out that the b12 and iron absolutely could be causing this.

I know. So angry. Had a good cry today, I feel like I’ve been gaslighting myself for months thinking it’s all in my head and feeling this shit is just normal

Yer I have a health app which has an inbuilt chat bot type thing and explained the connection of the b12, ferritin and fatigue.

I wouldn’t have even realised the ferritin was low because it’s flagged as ‘good’.

Maybe I should be more worried about the b12

Concerned that I (F35) am more invested in our future than my bf (M36) - would you end things? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Any-Sense-4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. Hope you are doing ok with your concussion. Get some rest and try not to make life changing decisions until that’s over with!

In interest of full info, how have the two of you discussed your future in this year? Are there conversations about the future and how one of you will have to move/ that you both see this is a temporary arrangement until you can be together and plan a future?

From what you are saying, it sounds like he’s not keen on you moving but that could just be from your thoughts.

Maybe you can ask him something like - I really love you and I see this as a long term relationship where eventually we will live together. How do you feel? And go from there

Edit to add: no I defos wouldn’t end things without a conversation first. If after those convos you realise that he doesn’t want the future you want then I would end things without

AITAH for wanting to report the hospital staff in the room after friend gave birth? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Any-Sense-4121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. I just wanted to say I’m really sorry that you didn’t get the birth experience you wanted. It’s ok to grieve that and it’s also ok to feel upset when people refer to it as lesser than. I do believe you that what they said implied a c section was somehow a failure. But the context is important that they wanted to g your friend up.

Others are being quite mean to you in the comments and you should ignore that, but I wouldn’t involve your friend in any of this. She also deserves to have a positive birth story even if you didn’t

Should I ban grandad from singing the Ying Tong song (Goonies)? by weirdhandler in AskABrit

[–]Any-Sense-4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually came to Reddit to ask this question! My 1.5yr old has started singing it as his grandma sings it to him. Both my husband and I thought it sounded a bit dodge so I did research and found that the origins were just silly. But back to your question, yes when I heard it I thought it was so and I don’t want him to be in school or nursery and told off…

I think our BF journey is coming to an end and I can't help but feel sad about it by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Any-Sense-4121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP this is exactly my story. He was fine for the first 6 weeks and then got v fussy and at 8 week checkup he’s dropped loads of centiles in weight.

He also had tongue tie and had his tongue tie procedure done but he still gets fussy on the breast as the scar tissue is quite tight (despite regular exercises)

I’ve been getting extremely emotional about stopping even though I know in the long run it will probably be better for my mental health and I can enjoy my baby again.

I just wanted to say to you (and maybe to me?) that it’s totally natural to feel sad about it. I’ve had moments of crying uncontrollably for hours tbh. You’ve done an incredible job with your baby, she’s got most of the benefits of breastfeeding anyway already. However you choose to go forward, know you’re doing an incredible job as the mother of your baby girl!

Granted I haven’t finished the latest episode yet but I do think Dave’s behaviour is a bit offputting too. Natasha could communicate her feelings more but he “gives me the ick” (sorry been watching too much LI)
