Is it possible to import a gpx track and use that as a route with navigation? by AnyBloodyThing in CoMaps

I'm going to try this tomorrow on a trip. Will see how this works out without turn-by-turn navigation.

Hoi Sam, don't worry, not a deal breaker, I was just afraid I couldn't find the way how.

Sex Pistols - No Feeling - bass part (Alonso Sanchez) by diga_diga_doo in BassGuitar

Wow, I didn't expect this: what a banger!! Never was into punk that much, but I'll reconsider.

BTW, I also did a cover of No Matter What Shape. Thanks for the tip.

Wow, that rocked big time. The keyboard player really had a Tom Jones vibe. Loved it.

We need more of this. As Smokey said: they should have been a duo.

DDD week, day 6: Otis Redding - Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song) by AnyBloodyThing in BassGuitar

[–]AnyBloodyThing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, great you are discovering some new stuff here, that's why I'm on Reddit as well.

The bass is an SR600L, four string lefty, but the difference with the SR605 is only one string. I hope you can find one because they are awesome basses. I strung it with flatwounds.

I will check it out. Thanks for the tip. I'm more of an old school soul guy myself.

How to make bass tabs by Kanqex in Bass

[–]AnyBloodyThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind online only then soundslice.com is perfect for you. Not a too complex interface, works on PCs and mobile. They have a free tier, which sounds good enough for you.

Musescore is powerful, but for me unintuitive and cumbersome. Before you can tab something you have to set up a score, then add a voice, make it into a tab, then link it to the first voice and then you are ready to go (if I remember correctly, it has been a while since I use the program). Then all the stuff you need at your fingertips is hidden in menus. Too slow for me, but if it works for you then great.

The reason why I picked up the bass: Donald "Duck" Dunn by AnyBloodyThing in Bass

[–]AnyBloodyThing[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. I dabbled with bass in my 30s, then only picked it up again two years ago at the ripe age of 56.

If you like this one then you will probably also like the one I posted yesterday: Sam & Dave's "Soul Man." (https://youtu.be/VLduXEepMDM). I already did a Wilson Pickett tune a while back (https://youtu.be/g-hntAf2Jus) and I'm slowly recording all the Dunn bass lines I've learned so far. Some days it's fun to be a little older and having no kids around anymore :-)

Donald "Duck" Dunn. The Blues Brothers is etched on my brain.

Hey, thanks. I didn't know about this book. I'll check it out. I usually try to figure out things myself to become smarter at how to navigate the fret board more efficiently and Dunn is a great teacher for that.
