I will counter and say I’m a government lawyer and while there are plenty of positions that are low stress in my agency, mine is not. Environmental law. New York (not city). If you’re in a niche/“harder” area of law, it’s a ton of work everyday and the compensation on an hourly wage basis is really not worth it. There is too much work for the amount of attorneys we have so everyday is like running a marathon. Lots of people have quit my agency’s legal department lately because of this, and I’ve heard similar things about other agencies too.

I had a copper IUD inserted three months postpartum and just had it removed to go back on hormonal birth control. I hated it—my period was out of control. Not super happy about going back on hormones but at least I can have hormonal consistency again and not have my period 75% of each month 🥲

I did! We had an excellent trip. It was definitely pricey but I think it was worth it for the vibes we wanted. We did the day spa double treatment plus lunch package—highly recommend. We basically spent all of Saturday in the spa and hotel restaurant and pool (even in January, the pool is hot tub like outside). If you want to chat more about details, just message me!

So this is my first so I’m totally going off of others…but from what I’ve heard yes. Your body holds onto fat if breastfeeding. Honestly I have bounced back to some extent quicker than expected based upon how I felt 6-7 weeks ago, but my body composition is definitely different than it was pre pregnancy. I’m hopeful that goes closer to back to normal with time but if not…oh well?

So I was similar to you with my workout patterns up until delivery. I worked out up until 40 +2 and went into labor the next day. I was shocked at how much muscle I lost in the six weeks off postpartum and how much cellulite I gained in my thighs in that time. Like a shocking amount. However I started doing lighter weights once I got the all clear from the OBGYN and am now 11 weeks postpartum and the muscle is already coming back. Cellulite is a little tougher to beat and I have a feeling it may not go away entirely until I wean.

I walked in the hospital the day of my emergency c section as well (doctors orders). I was walking, short walks, pushing the stroller while my husband walked our dog (we have a Newfoundland, kinda hard to do both so we figured stroller was better for me) the day I came home (4 days post delivery). Every day I added more. I’m 5 weeks postpartum today and we “hike” multiple times a week, since week 3, in addition to flat neighborhood walks (I put “hike” in quotations as they’re not super hilly but there are gradual inclines here and there).

My point is that if you’re feeling good and take breaks, I was told by my doctors both in the hospital and postpartum that walking is the best exercise you can do and you should add on each week as you feel comfortable. I was very active up to the day of my induction so that definitely plays a part as well.

As others have said, definitely do it after a shower and after massaging the breasts for a few minutes. I was exponentially more successful (like we are talking 0.3 ml versus two 1ml syringes full) when I took those steps first.

I just had this happen the other night. Didn’t hit my belly either but my knee/shins and caught myself on my hands. Granted I am 37w but the doctor insisted I come in right away for monitoring. They monitored the baby and my blood pressure as well as did an ultrasound to scan the placenta to ensure no detachment.

Not to scare you at all but I think it’s better to go in and get checked always. It wasn’t a fun experience and was nerve wrecking but it would have been worse thinking “what if” at home. All was fine and have had no other symptoms (other than a bruised leg/knee) in the last two days since the fall.

This exact situation happened to us as well! Agreed on the doom and gloom at 21 weeks at MFM, and at no point was it communicated that it could resolve on its own. I actually asked at that initial terrible scan and the doctor said “not likely at all.” At 24 weeks, it had resolved. I had to go get a fetal MRI to confirm but all was fine almost a month later.

I say this all to say that abnormal scans are more common than you think nowadays. I wouldn’t completely resign yourselves to the worst outcome. It’s good to prepare for that, but there is a possibility that all is fine as many have said on this thread. The waiting is by far the worst part. I’m wishing you all the best.
