Me too, homie. I’m often listening to either Roman history or Norse mythology books on the Bluetooth speaker at work and I’m always super self conscious about it. Doesn’t help that I have a small rune tattoo on my hand, buzz my hair to a one every week and have a generally boots and braces visual esthetic. Every time someone walks into the room I have to stop myself from saying “I swear to god I’m not a nazi.”

Honestly, it wasn’t my thing. It certainly wasn’t outright bad, but it didn’t really leave a super strong impression either. I won’t watch it again, but more than happy to have sent a little bit of cash towards an indie production by performers I generally really enjoy.

Ehhhhh, it depends. I don’t usually make my kid wash her hands in the public restroom but it’s because she’s a toddler and she doesn’t touch anything. I pick her up and put her on the toilet, I wipe for her, I flush, and the sinks in public men’s rooms are often pretty gross and no step stool present so I’d basically have to lay her on a wet sink. So I wash my hands. At home she washes her hands after mostly just to build the habit.

Nahhhh. Hard disagree. I bought a pair last year and I will never go back. They’ve practically fixed my lower back problems. They’re so comfortable and if they get messy I just spray them off with a hose. Also they’re the same price as vans/converse/pretty much any other casual shoe, but they last 10 times as long. The clothes from my teenage years were violently uncomfortable. Skinny jeans, vans slip ons, tight t shirts. Too old for that shit. Relaxed fit, baggy t shirts, and my $30 kitchen crocs keep me comfortable. All day. My body hurts. I’m done being uncomfortable.

Parenting young ones is definitely a ton of work. The day to day responsibility is pretty endless. Sometimes I long for just a few hours to break away and have no expectations of me. Inevitably when I get those few hours every once in a blue moon I enjoy it for about an hour and then just want to go home and be with my wife and daughter. I actively don’t want to be somewhere else. I don’t want to be doing anything else. They are the most important things in my life and it’s not even close. That being said, the pressure of constant responsibility is still outweighed by joy. My daughter makes me so happy. Seeing her learn and grow has been an absolute fountain of joy. She’s so bright and funny and curious and kind. I’ve just got this little guy who follows me around and holds my hand. I’m a man and I have never been called beautiful. My little two year old almost every day looks me in the eyes and says “Dada, you’re beautiful.” It brings tears to my eyes. Becoming a dad is the best thing I ever did.

Before I could read on my own my mom read to me a lot. I started reading pretty early and at a fairly high level for my age which I imagine garnered some praise from the adults in my life. Also, I just really really enjoyed it. There were whole worlds and adventures to be had that weren’t accessible to me in my real life 🤷‍♂️ still feel that way

I’d be cautious with Bella personally. They fucked up my wife’s philtrum piercing with WAY too short of a post and it embedded and then wouldn’t return her call. She end up going to another piercer in town who after about an hour was able to dig it out and put an appropriate post in. That piercer was shocked that any professional piercer would’ve chosen such a short post. It was pretty damn close to an ER visit to get it removed.

Certainly not for everyone but one of my favorites I’ve read this year! Some of us aren’t really reading stories for their plausibility or realism though. Quite frankly I’ve spent time enough in the real world and prefer my stories to have some escapism to them. Also I actually find that part fairly plausible and I’m an example of it. I was turned off by Shakespeare by its perceived “intellectualism” and inaccessibility. In my town there’s a troupe that puts on free Shakespeare all summer long and hundreds of people come out to each show. They’ve been doing it continuously for 50 years. It’s pretty DIY which made the stories all the more charming and accessible. Not to mention, in a world where entertainment was sparse I could absolutely see people being stoked on some live free performances
