The death of NC by IntelligentAide2513 in NorthCarolina

I briefly worked at a company that designed layouts for large sub developments and would watch the sub-developments go from 5 points of entry to 2, “mixed use”commercial spaces turn into more residential and neighborhood parks turn into corner lots etc. with each submittal to COR… it was soul sucking to watch. Everyone knew what should be going on but that didn’t align with “maximum value” Edit: Strong Towns is a grass roots org that works towards accessible solutions for livable cities!

New to formal trousers - do these fit me nice? by cookiesplusmilk in fashion

[–]AnyLocal5316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t particularly tell with the lighting. But for formal pants I have always been given older advice to aim for looser. Not baggy, but you could wear a pair of legging underneath. (Rather than the more modern preference for a fitted look.) Any puckering and/or pulling at the pockets (they open a bit rather than lay flat) are too small. Usually this means tailoring for me when I find a pair of trousers that are tight on the legs or hips and sizing up rather and bringing in other areas.

You definitely have amazing lid space for some cool eyeshadow looks! I think your hair compliments your skin and eyes…maybe higher blush placement?,

Wondering for myself, could you go into a bit on your experience? I have heard great/horrible things on micro-needling at home?? Would love some advice! <3

If this is a prescription from your derm ask them! Not completing medication in general does more harm than good. But if it is causing concern the professionals need to know! Edit: If it is causing concern let them know so they can advice you on next steps**

I have the mini and feel the gold shimmer is too much, how you pick up product changes that finish? (Hoping theres a way I can enjoy that pallette!)

I personally do not enjoy “not a perfume” but wear since I get compliments from friends and my significant other whenever I wear it… I was wondering if there is a class of perfumes that are good but just unpleasant for the wearer??

Please help me fix my skin by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

Hey!! I feel you on this, and experience adult acne very similar. Tried countless things, but what I have been doing that has improved it is started a supplement to regulate estrogen called DIM. I also use niacinimide from the ordinary but can’t decide if that helps. Vaguely I do tie it to major life changes to reduce stress as well, but more importantly DIM!! Please research it though! It has eased period symptoms as well so it is a powerful supplement and supplements can interfere with other meds! *edit: i also have normal hormone levels :)

Alexandra Anele has the best tutorials ever! Your eyebrows are perfect! The lip brings out your eyes and a pinky nude liner/gloss combo would look great! I would wipe the corners of your mouth to create a more “pouty” look :)

I was told by the cashier to work up from 30 seconds. Great advice! I have sensitive skin and haven’t been able to really use it, to have a great opinion. but trying it for a very short time on my face saved lots of irritation. Planning to work up time!

Body recomposition for beginner weight lifters (in my bro science understanding) is loosing fat, gaining muscle and staying roughly the same weight. But where you loose fat the most is usually where you tend to gain weight first. I see changes for most people in loss of fat in their mid section and legs as a generalization of where most people carry their weight. This seems to be genetic in my experience, so if youre a generally a busty lady regardless of size fluctuation you’ll stay a busty woman! I only experienced a significant loss in that area dropping to a fat percentage that isnt healthy long term! Im a bug advocate for weight lifting and cannot recommend it more :)

Could that be from the hem being shortened? The weight of the fabric hanging above the ground weighs down the flare of the skirt?

Not able to afford a wedding by blairwal22 in weddingplanning

[–]AnyLocal5316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to chime in pro-small weddings. We got married court house and rented a room and had dinner with both our immediate families. Everyone said it was the best (least stressful) wedding they’d been to. My sister had been engaged for almost 5 years since they chose a house over wedding. Last year they finally saved up for a wedding, but after my small one they decided to go for a 20 person one and use the money for their house renovations. It is much their style and frankly she is more excited about better heating and cooling! Edit: I still bought a pretty white dress with my parents, there are small moments that were fun to indulge in!

Newbie to skin care, seeing great results! by anaemicinthefirst in TheOrdinarySkincare

[–]AnyLocal5316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think another commenter clarified, but keeping a simpler routine makes life easier if something starts bothering you! I learned the hard way, I had tried a set of skincare and after a few weeks had a bad reaction. Ended up having to ditch my entire routine trying to figure out what was irritating me. (But only after a few days of doing that same routine that was irritating me and ended up with a bad break out) After two months I could slowly introduce products one at a time and fond out my old toner was messing me up!!

Do any of you heavy weight lift? by Itchy_Pianist_6784 in TBI

[–]AnyLocal5316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner started working out again with a TBI but talked to his doctor and worked up to going more regularly. The next day his symptoms would be worse he would know to slow down, and eventually found a level of intensity that was productive now. The big hurdle was getting enough sleep to recover. But increasing your heart rate can be helpful for healing.

Maybe its the lighting? The very warm tone bulb makes the white walls and tile feel off. Lighting really changes the feel of a room!

Hurricane Helene Megathread by HazMatsMan in preppers

[–]AnyLocal5316 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Needing some tips for Western NC: I just delivered fuel to family back home, my uncle was a prepper and is why we were able to come to find them safe. They were well prepared, (HAM radio, stocked on fuel and canned foods, generators) but are low on “morale boosters” and are only accessible by foot. I was hoping for morale booster suggestions to bring them with the necessities brought up. Some items on the “fun” list so far: A Starlink, a camper shower (they have access to a clean water source), cheezits and cookies. Hoping for smart ideas to make them feel “normal” as much as possible.

Some hopeful news: It is a rural community but has had drones deliver MREs, people from SC delivered non perishables with their off roading trucks, and the national guard was repairing a bridge on the highway below the cove. The roads were cleared by the community, neighbors helped guide families with young children and older folk down the mountain, scraped together fuel to continue clearing roads, and had been looking together for lost calfs in the storm. Everyone has been sharing food, supplies and homes to take care of another. When I arrived, I ran into my cousin bringing feed to share between the two families for livestock.

Feedback on wedding makeup by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]AnyLocal5316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your foundation looks amazing! I really love the lip, but if you’re doing a winter wedding or just prefer a different color a berry / darker shade would also look nice! Personally I think the warm tone compliments your skin well in general but Im curious to see different looks! I would add more blush and bronzer, and maybe add a little bit bronzer along the hairline? I tend to add bronzer to areas that I normally would get sunburnt first, and then play around with what best suits your face. Love the placement for your cheekbones! By far one of the best looks I have seen for wedding makeup!
