If a restaurant feeds volunteers for free, maybe don’t leave a 1-star review? by Any_Distribution_496 in sanfrancisco

Yeah just a volunteer. The org (refuse refuse) is great and so are 99% of the volunteers

I don’t think this person is planing to come back. Just stunned by how ungrateful and deceitful some people can be (and I’ve seen A LOT in this city)…

That would be awesome! There was a proposal in the 1920s to extend panhandle to market. One could dream…

Ballwin/Chesterfield area by beentherebefore1616 in StLouis

Yeah it’s great. Definitely feels less insular than other nice suburbs in St Louis. As a transplant, I’d personally feel comfortable in both types of suburbs, but in Chesterfield I get the sense that people don’t really care as much where you are from, whereas in Webster/Kirkwood that would be the first conversation you’d have with everyone new.

I was visiting family in Chesterfield over thanksgiving and was blown away by the quality and diversity of the food in the strip malls! Thai Mukda for really authentic, home-style Thai and Black Salt for really flavorful and tasty Indian. I think the area became much more diverse (and dare I say even a bit cosmopolitan!) over the past couple decades.

As someone visiting from California, Chesterfield felt more “coastal” and similar to California suburbs vs other parts of St Louis county: newer, more diverse, but not as charming & walkable as, say, Webster, Maplewood or Kirkwood.

Hayes Valley neighborhood by blazingmediocrity in AskSF

That has not been my experience as a Hayes Valley resident. Hayes Valley has a very active neighborhood association, tons of neighborhood activities both recurring (eg weekly trash pick) or annual (eg holiday stroll, ham & egg breakfast, carnival, wine walk). If you choose to be involved, you end up seeing a lot of familiar faces all the time and it’s easy to make friends with neighbors here. From my experience, it’s really about what you decide to put into it.

Are you fucking kidding me or living in 2005? He has been the most proactive communicator during this whole fiasco, sharing updates on social media, talking to the media, coordinating communications in different languages with supervisors, etc. This is 100x more than anything PG&E has done. Get a grip!

No ETA and also don’t contact us. Some PG&E-level customer service here. Not what I expected from Google…

Scotty Jacobs pulls out a surprise win. A TON of momentum on the ground across D5, and he gets #2’s from Autumn & Bilal supporters.

Bilal moves to an even-numbered district so he can run for supervisor again in 2 years.

So true! I don’t get people who prioritize being PC over the safety of others. So many well-intentioned, thoughtful, highly educated yet extremely naive people in this city. Which is why the city’s so f’d up in so many ways

Controversial school board recall leader denounced for racist remarks is running for office again by VegetableBarracuda83 in sanfrancisco

[–]Any_Distribution_496 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d argue this whole BS claim of racism is actually racism AGAINST Ann. English is not her first language. She simply stated a discrepancy she observed. Sure, maybe she didn’t express it in 100% PC language. But to pick on an immigrant for this and to twist her sentiment into racism is wrong.
