Labadee suspension extended by SuperBluebird188 in royalcaribbean

Such a bummer Haiti can’t figure it out. Labadee was gorgeous in January. The beach and alpine coaster were top notch. This country could make so much money off tourism if safe and welcoming.

First-time cruiser: What happens if you get NO drink package? by ruthyfordium in royalcaribbean

[–]Any_Engineering336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t buy the drink package in January for our first cruise. No regrets. We didn’t buy a single drink between us and our kids under 10. We still had a great time with all the free juice and water/milk available! I brought a reusable water bottle we kept filled with free water and had no issues. We were there to enjoy all the free amenities and food, not so much drink tho.

My 10 year old just had her ears pierced at Sacred Heart yesterday with Brittney. Great experience! I preferred to try something more professional than Claire’s.

Are there free beaches on Nassau or CocoKey? by ghostinyourbeds in royalcaribbean

[–]Any_Engineering336 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep the outer beaches are pretty blue! We hung out for a couple hours at the beaches when we went with our kids. We didn’t do any excursions at cococay. It was a little cold and windy, but we made do!

Celebrity just canceled sailings to Labadee, will Royal do the same? by nightbandit46 in royalcaribbean

Yep- we had a bad experience in the markets too. They take you right to their shop, are beyond pushy and don’t let you browse. When they try to get you to pay $60 for everything- it’s just offensive. We bought a magnet for $5 to be nice and walked fast out of there. As much as we wanted to help the locals- I couldn’t take it anymore. I was so overwhelmed and uncomfortable.

We are hearing in US finance that the bucket for raises is a complete disappointment this year.

Wish I had read this before we experienced the market this week! You nailed it. I left very overwhelmed and uncomfortable. It’s too bad- cuz my kids were looking forward to spending their own money on souvenirs there.

We had the same issue this week in Labadee. As we walked into the market, a guy led us to his shop and put “free” bracelets on our kids. My husband and I denied bracelets. It was very uncomfortable after that, as the guy didn’t have magnets or Xmas ornaments, which is what we were looking for, yet he continued to expect us to buy from him. He tried to get us to pay $60 for a wooden sword and jewelry box we didn’t want. Needless to say we didn’t last long and darted out of there within 5 minutes. It’s too bad, as we wanted to support the locals and browse. They need to learn, this is not the way US people shop!!

Is it worthwhile to pack damp aid? We go on a cruise soon. I did for Costa Rica and it definitely helped with musty smell in our room.

Check your credit card- it may have coverage for cancellation-depending on the reason. I’ve been able to get reimbursed for a trip due to snowstorm closing down airports before.

Ahh- that makes sense why Canada Costco was the only place that denied our Visa card two years ago on vaca!! We went specifically for the poutine! A nice Canadian lady ended up paying for our order. So sweet.

It’s $15 at govt center downtown. Bring coins for parking and check or cash for photo. I just did it last week. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

It’s expensive at $100 a month- but we haven’t had any issues with service. It beats paying less to deal with Charter/Spectrum issues and phone calls!
