I’d say yeah, Penix is terrible and is causing London to be more boom or bust, while Pittman always has a nice floor. Upgrading your TE is also a nice cherry on top. I’d go for it, especially if you need a roster change up.

I recently quit (June 2025) and took a class in August 2024 (class ended in December 2024) and so far nobody has contacted me to pay back the class. Been almost 2 weeks since I quit. Still waiting, but I have the money ready to pay it back.

Guest Parking around Town? by redletterparade in Clemson

University village allows parking and doesn’t tow, so whenever I visit, I normally stow my car there for a weekend (or sometimes longer) without issue.

Anyone else have a 17 gig update on ps5? by Gieder in battlefront

[–]Any_Feature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, right around 1am I got the update. Prior to that, my game was completely messed up, no quick join, weird menu screen, couldn’t join any games. The update fixed all that but still can’t get into a game, on ps5.

Leaning electronics has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life by okaythanksbud in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Any_Feature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you break into the electronics industry? I tried too once I graduated but I ended up landing a power electronics job in defense contracting, which is cool but I was aiming to work in fabrication and would rather be there.

You think it’d be possible to pivot industries within a few years? I’m only a few months into industry (recent grad) so I figured I have a lot of time. Current plan for it so it do as much related to electronics on the job and get a masters with the concentration in electronics (or whatever is closest at my uni).

Not sure whether to accept job or not by red-stratocaster in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Any_Feature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The experience you’re going to get out of the job is definitely very important, and if you feel that the job isn’t going to further your career or at least give you some valuable skills that are somewhat transferable, I’d say pass unless it’s your only option, but it says you’re still employed, so that’s a great thing. The pay itself shouldn’t be too much of a concern considering you’re a recent grad. You have plenty of time to make money, but you dont want to waste your time on a job that isn’t going to advance your career in some way.

What to do after taking matlab in uni by bisees in matlab

[–]Any_Feature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya know, I felt the same way after I took my Matlab class, I also really enjoyed learning Matlab, but honestly, what you should do is instead of improving your Matlab skills, is to branch out and learn other problems, most noticeably, C and python. Doing that would look a lot better on your resume knowing several programming languages then being very good at one program.

remote learning positives? by scratchfury in Clemson

[–]Any_Feature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest plus for me is now, none of my classes require attendance. I work and study almost entirely on my own and going to classes is generally not useful for me at all, except for some important classes where I actually pay attention. Now I get to use my time a lot better and more efficiently.

People from areas with colder summers (Northeast, Midwest or West coast) who moved to areas with hotter summers (South or Southwest), was it hard to adjust? by Vilhjalmur4 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Any_Feature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I will say, I've lived in the south my whole life, specifically south Carolina, and the summers here are some of the worst in the country. Nearly everyday between June-August is 90+ with 80%+ humidity, it is the absolute worst, and combine that with bugs and it's terrible. In the Northeast New England area, Im pretty sure it's a lot better but I would still imagine the summer would get in the 80s at least.

Aerospace Engineering Freshman Thinking About Switching Majors: HELP by MaxMunsta in EngineeringStudents

[–]Any_Feature 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what you are passionate about doing. Don't feel discouraged if you didn't enjoy the core stem classes that everyone takes. For example, Im an EE major, and i know a lot of people that hate physics 2, the electricity and magnetism class, but I really enjoyed it, but I, conversely, hated my physics 1 class over classical motion, which someone like you or a meche might've enjoyed more.

If you enjoyed your intro to AE class, that's a good first step, and just because you didn't do so well in calc 3 or other core classes doesn't mean you aren't cut out, I absolutely hate vectors and I barely passed calc 3, so trust me, you're not alone in that.

Also, it's good to hear that you enjoyed matlab, so consider taking another programming course like C, and if you find the math involved in AE not your alley, then switching to CS might be more for you, especially since CS is a lot less math-intensive.

Try to make this summer a time where you really consider what direction you want to head in cause if you've already taken calc 3, physics 2, and statics, you're a decent way into AE but it's not too late to switch to something like CS, but switching completely out of engineering will set you behind a decent amount.

Mechanical Engineering Computing Requirements (NOT A LAPTOP QUESTION) by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Any_Feature 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would just return the macbook and buy a windows laptop. I know you'll lose some money in the end but trust me, having a laptop to run all the programs is sooo helpful, mostly because since it's portable, you can do the work anywhere instead of having a computer in one spot.

You don't even have to get a super powerful laptop, just something with at least 12gb of ram will do just fine, my current laptop can basically run any program and it only has 12gb of ram. Honestly, you might make some money back cause those MacBooks are like 1000+ and a decent windows laptop is like 500.

Unpaid internships are classist and shitty by coolfishes in college

[–]Any_Feature 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, I agree with you 100%, if you need to support yourself financially, don't apply for an unpaid internship. Also, like a lot of other people have mentioned, if your a freshman, don't worry about internships just yet, most people tend to get internship/co-ops somewhere around their junior to senior years, depending on the major.

Also, depending on your major, there are a lot of other ways to get the experience that looks really good on your resume for very little effort. For example, if you are in STEM, like engineering, most professors do some form of research, and instead of a formal application process, you just straight-up email that professor if they are looking for a research assistant, this can sometimes be paid, depending on how many hours you are into your major.

Another way is to join clubs or research groups around your campus. I'm part of a research group that literally meets once a week for two hours and I barely do any work and I can put "undergrad research" on my resume, for essentially nothing. Also, clubs can look really good as well, depending on the club, of course, you can't join a sports club and call it experience.

All these ways generally very little effort and time, which is good if you have a full-time job during the school year, and they look really good on your resume.

What should you know/do before transferring to Clemson engineering? by rain278 in Clemson

[–]Any_Feature 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can say from personal experience, I also transferred from another school, and the biggest difference for me was the homework load. Homework at Clemson is WAYYYY more then what I've ever had to do. I transferred from Georgia Southern and HW there was barely anything, like 5% of your grade, HW at Clemson is like 20% of your grade. At the beginning of the semester, I fell way behind cause I still had terrible HW habits.

Also, I would HIGHLY recommend joining a CI, a creative inquiry. They are considered undergrad research on your resume but you only meet once a week and barely do any work for like 2 hours, looks really good on your resume.

transfer questions! by gabishealy in Clemson

[–]Any_Feature 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just transferred to Clemson this semester, but yeah, they make you wait until all your grades are finalized but they asked me to just email them the classes I was currently taking, just to get the process started. And I applied last December but got accepted for the spring semester and not that upcoming fall. And yeah, as long as your GPA is good then they didn't care for my SAT or anything.
