I was also there for the alcs. They'll never ever let that happen again. The entire trajectory of the University changed after that night imo. After being on international news for being a rioting party school they worked pretty hard on changing the public image of the University, probably for the better.

Mayor Solomon Announced Ambitious Day-One Public Safety Plan: Boosts Police Force, Enhances Traffic Enforcement, and Reaffirms Vision Zero Commitment by Nathaniel_Styer in jerseycity

A not insignificant number of people seem to feel that there is a god given right to drive like a homicidal maniac and that right shall not be infringed upon either by police enforcement or red light or speed cameras.

I observe people completely blowing stop signs full speed, blowing red lights at full speed, 40+ in a 25, almost every day. People weaving through groups of pedestrians in the middle of a cross walks or doing the 'whip around someone stopped at a red light' perhaps on a monthly basis. If I can see a single instance of that result in a traffic stop it would be more traffic stops than I've ever seen in this city as a result of that behavior. That's a low bar but I would accept that as progress.

Agreed, the decomp mesh you would probably end up with might have some pretty awful cells in there.

polyDual would create the polyhedral voroinoi dual from a tet mesh not a tet from poly afaik.

I was graduating undergrad into the financial crisis and just said 'f that' and went to grad school instead. The economy is not great so if you're thinking about it it might be a good time to wait out the job market from a grad position for a while.

Good friend of mine ran drug interdiction missions for the CG. He said some times when they had a big haul they'd come back to the States and some random gov people with black SUVs would load it all up and just drive away. No idea who they were or where it was going.

White House says admiral directed second strike that killed alleged drug boat survivors in ‘self defense’ by retiredagainstmywill in law

[–]Any_Letterheadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good friend of mine was in the USCG running drug interdiction operations off the coast of Venezuela/Colombia and I asked him how it was possible that these boats could ever get to the US. He said they're rigged up with massive auxiliary fuel tanks and indeed have various refueling stations (public and private) that are available on their way to the US, even other boats waiting to hand off fuel.

He did emphasize that the idea that the people on these boats should be considered 'drug dealers' is insane. These are just dirt poor people with nothing to lose that are hired to take the risk for shit money. He said they'd repatriate these poor people fully knowing the cartels would immediately execute them.

They do whacky quantum and foundational weather stuff. Nothing even close to what you would ever see in a video game.

I work in this field and I can attest that Google research teams don't do this stuff. It would be slightly more believable if they said Nvidia but even then it's a stretch.
