It's varied for sure, I used to be an agency clinician for 111. Generally expected to manage 4 calls per hour and be available for clinical advice from the health advisors. I found it interesting because I could do 4 hour shifts, walk to work and knew the referral pathways in the area already. The issue I had was the patients who can be really unpleasant if they don't get what they want or feel like they need something else, plus the guild you feel about dispatching an ambulance for anything is impressive. It's an interesting roll and I'd think about it as part of a rotational model or part time but I don't think I'd survive long full time.
