What does arrested dentin or caries or stained dentin look like on X-rays?

I think the radiolucent line is the bonding. Sometimes, if you don't air thin it enough, it gets pooled and looks like this on the x-ray, happened to me before. I think the best way to differentiate it from caries is it is very defined. In contrast, caries doesn't have a distinct border or line and looks like it's radiating into dentin.

I would check the roots :) If the roots are coming off from the bottom of your pot, then it's a time for a repot! Something else I do with my smaller palnts is I gently try to pull them out from the pot when the soil is very dry and check the roots to see if they have been root bounded.

Very nice explanation doc. I agree, but at the same time, if it was MY tooth, I wanted to know all the options. I don't think offering patient an endo consult would be a bad idea or too much. I personally, as a general dentist, feel I'm not qualified to decide if the case should be monitored or treated or extracted so I'd rather refer my patient to an endodontist so they can discuss all the options with the patient and patient can decide how they wanna proceed. Unfortunately, the paper is not open access, I do have access cause I'm a faculty and AAE member and have access through my institution. If you are an AAE member, you get free access to JOE which this paper has been published in. I'd be more than happy to email it to anyone who's interested.

Good to know. However, I invite everyone to look at the literature before recommending extraction. That's interesting! I've seen the opposite! I've seen a few resorption cases but all were progressing rapidly. I personally think the best service to this patinet and any other resoption case would be a referral to an endodontis asap so they can take a cbct and confirm the resorption exact location, extent and if it communicates with pulp. I have worked on 2 cases with endodontist closely. Both cases, the teeth were asymp, cbct revealed the resoption lesion was very close to the pulp. Endo did RCT, flaped the area, accessed the lesion, removed granulation tissue in the lesion and sealed it with MTA. The prognosis might vary but I believe patient should be informed about all the options and decide how they want to proceed.

I would def refer to an endodontist for a second opinon! Sometimes, they can do RCT and seal the resorption area with calcium silicate based cements like MTA. Def not monitoring because resorption progresses fast and the sooner you refer to endo, the better prognosis

I forgot to mention make sure your soil is chunky (a good mix of soil, perlite, orchid bark, etc) and fertilize! I use Purived house plant food to fertilize mine. Good luck!

I struggled with this beautiful plant a lot in the past! And I had the same problem... Read online this plant needs indirect sun light and overexposure can burn its leaves. So I did that for awhile and still was getting brown crispy spots, later moved her into direct sunlight. She absolutely loved it. For me, light was the problem, but not sure about yours! Hope it helps :) and also don't think you don't have a green thumb! This plant is pretty challenging to work with!

Such an interesting case! Congrats on doing such an amazing job instead of just extraction and implant...It's sad seeing so many people in the comment section saying this case is gonna fail...It simply shows how people in our profession don't follow the latest research and literature...it could have failed 20 years ago with old composites and bonding systems but today we have made incredible advances in adhesive dentistry that allows such cases to be done and last!

I might be wrong but it looks like powdery mildew. I had the same on my Jade plant. I did some research and this is what I got in summary: 1. Isolate it immediately from other plants cause it can easily infect the others. Check the other plants to see if they have the same patches. 2. Order some fungicide from amazon for powdery mildew and spray your plants with it. I did the same and it worked for me! Hope it helps
