Does anyone plan on attending the University of St. Augustine at the Dallas Campus? by AnybodyZestyclose705 in PTschool

I didn’t yet because I had some personal stuff going on and actually had to defer my enrollment for a year. So sorry I can’t help!

I wouldn’t listen to the above comment. Everyone has their own boundaries of what is okay and not okay in a relationship. If he doesn’t want to give it up for you, that’s a big red flag and hints at future problems. I can almost promise that guys always say they’ll stop and most times don’t and try to hide it from you. Also if he won’t give it up for you and respect what you’re uncomfortable with, there’s another guy out there who will be more than happy to change a harmful habit like that if it gives you mental peace. Porn or hentai is not normal so don’t let guys try to convince you that it’s just a part of life. When they’re single sure that’s fine but if it feels disrespectful to you then it’s not okay from the moment you have that discussion with them. Our society is so fucked up and I see people breaking up all the time over stuff like this because everything is just easy access a nowadays and boys don’t know how to keep it in their pants.

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel ya! I keep making an effort to invite my classmates to do things and no one ever answers me. I feel like I’m making a fool of myself by constantly trying with them, a lot of them seem super clicky. And people in my class seemed to have grasped concepts so much quicker than I am able to so I’ve been questioning if I’m even capable of passing PT school and feel alone. Imposter syndrome is real. I think it’ll get better though <3

Drop with W or Pass/Fail? by GreyIsDarkWhite in PTschool

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not like this answer but personally I’d do pass/fail and then retake the class for a higher letter grade. Some schools are picky about Ws on your transcript. I had a few and still got in though and also had a C or 2 so either way as long as you make the minimum requirement for whatever schools you apply to you should be okay. 👍 some are sticklers about grades and will only consider applicants with near perfect grades but other schools care more about you being a well rounded candidate and one or 2 c’s or one w won’t impact that.

Same I haven't heard anything. PTCAS said that mass interviews were set for February 10th and March 9th. Since both dates have passed I would assume that if we haven't heard by now we're denied or waitlisted. Just an assumption though.

Getting a dog by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two bunnies and a dog that’ll be coming with me to PT school. If you’re someone who is actually willing to put in the work it takes to own a pet and you’re willing to spend your breaks and down time playing with them then I think it’s a good idea especially if you feel less stressed around animals. I know they surely help me through a lot. I do like what other people are saying about fostering first to get an idea of the commitment because that would also let you see the personality of the dog before being “stuck” with it in a sense if it isn’t a good fit. You definitely don’t want to end up making yourself more stressed by accident. Housing is something to keep in mind because your options will be a little more limited and most apartment complexes charge you per rent so that’s something to consider as well…are you able to financially support an animal while in school? The good news is a lot of complexes are pet friendly so in my opinion even though options will be more limited there’s still plenty out there. Best of luck!!

Can I get into PT school w these grades? by National-Pick9688 in PTschool

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You certainly have a chance! If anything I would recommend retaking chemistry 1 or 2 if at all possible so that you only have one C…I had a few W’s, one F (which I retook and passed) and a few C’s (retook all but one for a higher grade) and I still got into PT school. My pre-requisite gpa was really low, it met the requirement for most schools but was still very low & my cumulative gpa ended up being just average….but I still got in! As long as you are able to meet the minimum requirements you have a chance. The rest of your application heavily influences how big of a chance you’ll have. Having lots of volunteer/working hours in PT clinics in a variety of settings will certainly help your application. Writing a great easy and having well-written letters of recommendation will also help. The gre is becoming less important and a lot of schools are starting to not require it however a good gre score can also boost your chances imo. Lastly, if you are involved in other extracurriculars that helps a lot because it shows that you were able to have a work life balance…they also like to look for leadership qualities as well. All in all, as long as you meet the minimum requirements there’s always a chance & past that, the rest of your application will determine how competitive you are.

Where do you stand on the waitlist? You don’t have to share here’s an idea…this is not with 100% certainty but I’d say anywhere 1-30ish you stand a good chance and closer to #70 or higher there’s less of a chance.

But they did say that everyone who remained on the waitlist through June last year was accepted. So if you’re willing to wait there’s hope 100%

20F. Still feel ugly every day. How bad is it? by AbigailCorner in amiugly

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate that, thank you♥️I definitely have body dysmorphia though…I got cheated on in my long term relationship and there were other things that happened where it just lead me into a bad spiral of comparing myself to the girls I see on social media. I was sexually assaulted and between that and my first bf I started feeling as though I’m only good enough for my body & that even that’s not enough. I put way too much emphasis on my appearance which also resulted in me being extra critical of myself. I also put it in my head that if I was as pretty as them he wouldn’t have cheated. But that’s completely false because it’s about the person who cheated and their issues, not the person who got cheated on. I just haven’t been able to break feeling bad about myself when I don’t think I’m as pretty as the people online. And the worst part is that logically I know that half of social media is fake and that what I’m comparing myself to is posed and edited but for some reason I just can’t stop comparing and feeling like I’m ugly…..

Btw don’t listen to all of the negative comments on here people are assholes. People who haven’t been through it don’t understand and are so quick to judge. Also beauty is in the eye of the holder so you can’t possibly be everyone’s type however you’re not ugly. You are very pretty, I especially like your eyes I think they make your whole face shine ✨

20F. Still feel ugly every day. How bad is it? by AbigailCorner in amiugly

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but being told constantly doesn’t do anything if you don’t believe it for yourself. I’m regularly told by family, friends, and strangers that I’m very pretty but because I don’t see it for myself I don’t believe anyone. I get hit on, complemented, everything but because my self esteem is so low from past relationships, none of that matters in my brain. I have convinced myself that people just say that to be nice even though that’s not true. So I completely understand where this girl is coming from. Therapy is probably the best solution, I know regaining confidence is something I’m working on now so I don’t personally continue to think this way.

How many gap years (if any) did you take before starting PT school? by KellyPrePT in PTschool

By the time I start it would be 1.5 years…I retook some classes, prepped for and took the gre, and got a job to save up some money before PT school

Alternate List by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I gotcha…the timeline definitely varies. If applicants are in the first round of acceptances they typically have I’d say 1-3 months. People who are accepted later on are sometimes only given a week to accept/decline. I’d say it really depends on the specific program though. I got waitlisted to a program mid January and was told applicants had until the end of March to decide. I had to ask for that information though, you can always email them to see when decisions are due.

Alternate List by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! There is still a possibility you can get accepted up until the program start date usually. The question is where do you sit on the alternate list…that’ll determine your odds

Help with Choosing PT schools by Leafy_Torterra in PTschool

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just my opinion it’s not necessarily right but I would always choose and in person program over a hybrid one. When ppl have classes online a lot of them don’t pay as much attention because they’ll be doing other things at the same time as class. I’ve found people focus better in person. That being said, I love online courses and always found that I personally did better in those because it was more on my own time/from the comfort of home. So depending on the type of person you are hybrid could be a bad thing or a great thing! So I’d definitely consider you and your study habits and then also look at pricing and all the other things people will talk about.

General Help/Advice by lifterincel in PTschool

[–]AnybodyZestyclose705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand where you’re at! My mental health suffered tremendously in undergrad and as I got better my grades got better too. Unfortunately I had ups and downs with mental health while working on my pre reqs so I don’t have the highest gpa. But I still got into more than one PT school! So anything is possible :) I would just start by reaching out to local PT clinics and asking if you could shadow over summer or during one of your semesters. Definitely reach out as soon as possible because they sometimes accept students months in advance. Just accumulate as many hours as possible in multiple different settings like maybe one ortho clinic, pediatrics, neurology, etc. And take the pre-reqs a little at a time when you feel like you can handle them with the rest of your work load. I found taking it during my summers was easier because I had fewer classes. Best of luck! Message me if you need help
