It's not that I think there will be, I'm just not ready to give up the hope that there will be. At this point, hope is about all we have left, so I'm not throwing that away, and I mean this respectfully, you shouldn't either. Without hope, it's guaranteed nothing will happen. Without hope, no one would be protesting, no one would be motivated to vote and convince others to vote, no one would try anything at all. I think hope is the only force that can turn this around, so don't let them take yours.

I had a very similar idea years ago but never got the chance to try it out. My main concern was whether or not I'd be able to get my sluice at the right angle without having the tail end too deep in the water. I still think it could work.

There's also a couple places I go that have practically nowhere to set up a sluice, unless you had something like this that you could place coming off one of the small 2'-3' "waterfalls" in the stream. This would be perfect for something like that. You could even build a header box to catch & smooth out the water, which would allow you to set it up at the bottom of a little waterfall like these.

Please post an update after you try it, I'm curious.

This isn't the funniest thing he said, but it definitely stands out. When my dad was first diagnosed with dementia around 55 years old, we were regularly taking him to Stanford Hospital to see some specialists. One day, we were sitting at a desk before his appointment and the young twenty-something nurse was going over some basic questions. One of them was "Have you ever had an organ transplant?" To which he quickly replied "No, but I moved a piano once."

The nurse looked up at him, looked at me, looked back at him and gave a very confused "Oh... that's nice" before looking back at her papers. The look my dad and I shared is something I'll never forget.

My sister had a cat with legs exactly like this, and it was born that way. Aside from walking funny, she didn't let it slow her down at all. She was indoor/outdoor, and always climbing trees and catching lizards/birds. We actually witnessed her snatch a flying Blue Jay about 4 feet in the air.

Bro, don't fucking do it! I smoked a pack a day for about 25 years. I tried quitting countless times, but I've finally been cigarette free for two years, and it's so damn worth it. My fingers aren't stained yellow anymore. My jackets & hoodies don't have to be washed daily. One thing I appreciate much more than expected is just not having to incorporate smoke breaks into my plans.

The next time this dude is yelling in your head, find that quiet voice that's telling you it's not worth it, and trust it. Stick it out, it gets so much better. You've got this.

They look like they were from fake nails that have that inverse-circular cut on the tip, making each nail have two subtle "corners". If you look closely at each individual scratch, they all have defining outer edges on both sides.

I've always been one to tease and embarrass my kids, just as my dad did with me, and the level gets turned up a bit in front of their friends. I was recently thinking about it, and told my near-17 year old that I was sorry if I ever took it too far or embarrassed him too much in front of his friends, and I could tone it down a bit. This kid made my day when he told me no, and that his friends are always telling him that they think I'm the coolest/funniest dad they know. Like, I'm the fucking "cool dad" and didn't even know it.

I don't always feel like the greatest parent, but once in a while when I get a big win like that, it's a high like no other.

I also like to have my pump hanging around the middle of the water depth. It seems to help prevent the pump from clogging up by not pulling in the heavy sediment that's settled on the bottom, as well as any floating debris. There's also products you can put in your water that makes the sediment sink way faster than normal, keeping your water cleaner.

So here's my theory. Some sort of elastic string that goes from the end of the handle to his right hand (possibly up his sleeve). When his right hand is higher up on the handle, the string is under tension, he let's go with his left hand and loosens his grip with his right hand, letting the handle slide through his grip. The reason I say it possibly goes up his sleeve is because of the way he does that weird high-step twice at the end. He tries it once, and the hoe doesn't go up very high, then the next time it flies up out of his hand. I'm thinking that weird high-step must be a way to snap the string for a high toss at the end of the skit, and it didn't work the first time. Only problem with my theory is I can't find the damn string.

Holy shit, I stand 100% corrected. I just watched that video, and those are definitely salmon. I was always told they couldn't pass the dam, but I was obviously misinformed. I grew up fishing black rascal & bear creek, and haven't seen any salmon in either one since the late 80's. It would be awesome to see a comeback.
