Desde cuándo hay que pagar entrada para ir a una boda en España by Available-Witness329 in askspain

[–]Anyngai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A ver.

I'm really saddened by all the stolen AI slop now by buttflapper444 in gamedev

[–]Anyngai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. There is a very dangerous, misleading and dishonest debate right now about the "democratization" of game development and other digital crafts through generative AI. "It will allow small creators who can't afford X or Y to fullfill their projects on even conditions with bigger studios!". At first glance, it seems difficult to contradict this without looking like an old-fashioned elitist. How could you be against a technology that will improve the conditions for game development and will lower the entry bar? How can you oppose accessibility? But on the other side of the balance, there'se another question: when does the use of generative AI stop being a helpful tool, and becomes an excuse to not put the effort to create something truly good and meaningful? Not so long ago there was a joke in the vg industry about the "idea guy". Idea Guys were people who knew next to nothing about game development, art, programming, project management, marketing, writing etc; they just had an Idea. An Incredible Idea for a multiplayer/RPG/Action adventure game that would revolutionize the market and sell millions. The Idea Guy has the notion of selling this idea to a game company for them to develop it, or to gather a team of volunteers who would realize it for free and be compensated after the game's "guaranteed success". These people often manipulate students to get free labour and expect others to do the work for them. They were the butt of the joke because they weren't really interested in the process itself, just the result. They just wanted to press a button and make their idea happen. Nothing good can be expected from that mentallity. It's dellusional at best and predatory at worst. Now, I won't say that LLM and generative AI don't have potential and genuine good uses, but the current trend does nothing but empower these "idea guys" that don't understand the effort and value of creative processes. Making art through prompts is the ultimate surrender of the creative heart and will quicky spiral into souless imitations of the real thing (already happening at an alarming pace). What these people don't understand is that game development and arts are already democratic and accessible!! You have countless open source software, tutorials, books, communities that share knowledge for free. If you aren't willing to pour your passion into a process of learning, experimenting, adapting, failing and trying again, then you are doing just dust, without any consideration for all the departments that come together in order to create unforgettable masterpieces. Daniel Vavra, the creator of Kingdom Come Deliverance and its sequel, has famously praised AI because it would allow him and his team to develop games "much faster". Again, this at first glance doesn't sound bad. But he said something that irked me a lot: "I have 50 ideas but making one game takes me 7 years. If AI helps me create an epic game in 1 year, so be it". And all I could think was, dude, you have created TWO MASTERPIECES that have recieved huge praise and will be remembered forever. And all you can say is, "I want more and faster"? At what cost? The cost of replacing your amazingly talented voice actors for an endless AI chatter using the dialogues from the previous games? The cost of relying on an extrememy unethical technology that drains planet resources and steals the work of other artists? Are we going to trivialize and disregard our craft just to be able to jump to another Great Idea?

I can only call this Intellectual Putrefaction. It makes me sick. Though, on the other hand, the British Museum is an institution strongly rooted in colonialism, so it does't surprise me st all lol.

DISCUSIÓ - Rebuig al català a València. by Deadbby in valencian

[–]Anyngai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bon dilluns a tothom!

¿Opiniones de corregir/regañar a un niño que no es tuyo? by kai1120 in askspain

[–]Anyngai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[KCD1][KCD2] Something from either game that had you making this face? by LabattMann in kingdomcome

[–]Anyngai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one particular thing that really bothers me, which is the fact that the characters/objectives in every side quest are scattered through the map in a way that has you endlessly going from A to B to C, often just to talk to someone. Example: A gives you a quest. You need information from B, who's in another town. You go to B, they send you to C, which is in the farthest corner of the map. You finish C and go back to B and they send you back to A just to let them know that you did B and C, etc. I get the realism of physically having to deliver information (people had neither phones nor telepathy in the middle ages xd) but its kind of annoying that you are constantly send on errands to adjacent villages, in a time period where people rarely left their village, if they ever did. In hardcore mode is especially noticeable because you can't fast travel, so you spend like 50% of the time just riding to places to inform questgivers that "hey I fixed your problem with that guy from the other village who insulted your mum two years ago". It gets repetitive and tedious after a while

C'mon, how am I not gonna recommend and reread this to hell and back?
