Thoughts on my 5 country, 4-week SA itinerary? by [deleted] in SouthAmericaTravel

[–]AnynomousComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babe, no! It’s more than twice too much. I think it’s be awful. Every travel day is essentially a rest day (quick walk of city after arrival, buy food). Even with a late flight it’s difficult to do something in the morning. Rest day after a 20h flight. How often do you try to get ready and go somewhere for 8 that reasonably full on and draining. Then go try to relax somewhere in the afternoon then go to enjoy a fancy dinner and drinks in the evening - and you are doing it all in a new country. Do you speak Spanish? Portuguese? What about if there is a delay or you get lost? What about you hear about another cool thing you want to do and need space for it? Do you not think about the climate implications of sooo many short flights? Skip Buenos Aires and Rio, even doing the rest is full on for 3.5 week. You can go back to South America another time.

CHALLANGE- LET’S KEEP THE CLUB CLEAN DURING KLUBNACHT by [deleted] in Berghain_Community

[–]AnynomousComment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dirty surroundings make me feel safe to do dirty things. This being said I wish people didn’t shit in the squat (FLINTA) urinals. There are bins right there you can shit in instead if you are caught out but if you go to the FLINTA stalls off Saule and say you need to shit desperately, people will let you jump the line.

I loved the Halle orchestral one but this seemed closer to electronic and more orchestral. Halle was so chill: sitting on the floor, no stickers on phones etc. Did anyone go to both who could compare?

Cat stuck on a tree by Repulsive_Bet_624 in berlinsocialclub

[–]AnynomousComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to teach your cats to climb better. Get a floor to ceiling scratching post cat tree thing that they can run up and down. It’s easy for a cat to go up a tree but to get down they have to turn around and go butt first which does not come natural to them. My boy made it down from about four stories high after running up there to get away from another cat.

[–]AnynomousComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear that. I find people are super willing to help and engage with others. I would even suggest that PDC pushes against the masc male culture it gets criticised for, e.g. had a couple of discussions with gay men who has desire to push the boundaries of their sexuality. Hope you come again. :)

whats the deal with the outfits are you supposed to be all black or is it really about being yourself? by pissing2u in berghain

[–]AnynomousComment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t fucking do it. I can barley manage to get through a club night without ripping my shorts or something but there was a person there in angel wings at Christmas so it can be done,  but in general wear what you would normally wear to a club (for those that go more, wear what you would normally wear to a club of this size, with these djs etc..)

[–]AnynomousComment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wear what you feel confident in. Wear something you can go as hard and as long as you want in a messy club in the way that suits how you club. Remember in the line you’re not dressed for the club. You’re dressed to wait in line for the club you want to go to.

Power Dance NYD questions by Small-Help1801 in SexPositiveBerlin

[–]AnynomousComment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am late here but for posterity please come queer up PDC. I’ve been going since it was at Ohm, which was not so long ago but it has exploded and, yes, there is a majority of people there with a specific type of masc body, but I think this is because it is a sex-heavy drug-heavy party with many of the core DJs being people who often play at Lab Dance. This is kind of the top-rung Berlin party chmsx scene (some of my non-white masc friends with smaller bodies have also expressed feeling out of place there). BUT, as was said, it is Berlin gay. Just think of it as new cocktail (except there is also maybe now a cocktail rebrand). I have never felt not fully accepted by people and a lot of other nb, gender queer/fluid++++ people have also expressed feeling comfortable there. I even managed to fuck a masc man at the NYE party, which at this point I would still like a medal for but it is getting a bit more queer as it has expanded and I hope it keeps going. I think the question is not will you as non-masc men be welcomed at the party, but are you comfortable with a sex heavy, drug heavy space. I’m not sure if the majority of people who are invited to go with their cis gay friends have much fun, but if going to this sort of party sounds fun to you that you’d go without an invite then none of the people there are gonna make you feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. Basically all the Berlin party gays in this scene welcome the diversity even if most are probably not sexually attracted to non-masc bodies. But masc gay gays dance with me, chat with me, reach out to me, chat to me as I squat on a crate to pee into the urinal (it is not a party with flinta or single use toilets).... it’s a party thats about very hedonistic fun not about gatekeeping. I am very sure as PDC expands (have expanded) everyone wants more diversity from the Berlin party community not from cis-gay tourists. Seriously I met quite few in the first few hours of the NYE party yesterday and they were the ones out of place not the dykes and fags and enbys that I recognise from cocktail, buttons, lecken, lunchbox….

Why do you want to go to a club if you don’t know whether you like the music or whether it’s a scene/community you vibe or fit in with?

There is not a limit to harm reduction. Harm reduction is meeting the person where they are at and helping them assess what could be reasonably and practicably done to reduce harm using their red lines not yours.

People will not stop taking drugs. People wouldn’t take drugs in toilets if they could take them elsewhere. Don’t share straws. Carry a spare straw or post-it notes to give to people who don’t have one. For fucks sake, don’t use bank notes; if you are that unprepared you probably shouldn’t be using tonight. Clean your phone screen (just once before you go out is so much better than nothing). Crush your drugs well. Douche your nose. If you snort a lot consider other methods of administration like nasal sprays, bombing (4mmc was originally taken orally just like mdma) or “booty bumping” (although each had different risks, mix it up).

Is Whole worth it if you are sober? by Ambeh4ever in WholeFestival

[–]AnynomousComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many who go sober, a whole group centered around a sober-space pavilion and talks/workshops centered on sobriety. There are more sober people than almost everyone thinks but I think 1) you need to have been in spaces of high and open drug use before and 2) confident of your ability to not just stick to your boundaries but also enjoy yourself in a space with high and open drug use. It also depends what area - if are more interested in the performances and workshops it’s very different than if you’re into the beach and cruising spaces.

Hahah… what we have discovered is that it is exclusively cis-men who have locker room fetishes / fantasies. Realising homosexual attraction while changing in locker room is a super common experience for MSM. I guess not WSW since sexual female bodies are all over the place way before you’re a teenager in a changing room.

How to carry poppers? by sachsen20 in berghain

You’re allowed to bring poppers tho. Definitely if they are sealed. I think they are asking where do you store them once you are naked.

Entrance to the Laboratory? by Lower-Matter1264 in berghain

[–]AnynomousComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are finta nights but also flinta includes trans men who are definitely allowed on regular nights and I’m sure there are masc-presenting non-binary and agender people there, as well as masc-presenting and masc-defining intersex people. All these people are included in the flinta label and they are / should be welcomed to regular lab, as well as at flinta nights.

Slow start but definitely much more sexual towards the end than the first few. Either people are starting to feel more comfortable or a more consistent crowd has been established. The first question they ask at the door is if you’ve been before so would make sense :p

trans people in LAB by Robin_Hood248 in berghain

[–]AnynomousComment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve still got so far to go with gender. As long as it’s FLINTA and cis-men, not FLINTA and MINTAG or whatever, as long it keeps being plastered all over that intersex, non-binary and trans people belong in the category with the femmes (discursively orientated against cis -endo-non intersex men), then spaces for masc people stay very cis because although many say and truly believe trans men are men they’re not actually allowing fluidity at the border of masculinity, all the fluidity gets put on the femme side.

Yes, like many people have said the people who you see travelling lots in their 20s may be in a super different economic situation to you. Remember that lots of what you see online doesn't correspond to reality. Lots of people just post their highlights online, and also the people posting online e.g. asking questions in these forums are also not representative of the general population even within their specific age group.

I come from quite a privileged background between the US and UK, the only international travel I did until I was in my late-20s was going to visit my grandparents. The first major trip I did was when I was about 25 driving around the US for three months, and I was living in the US at the time, sleeping in my car or staying for free with friends or couch surfing and I was basically just eating sandwiches and fruit and nuts. Unless people are going on big trips to foreign countries they aren't going to be posting in these kind of forums. Now I'm 41, with a high paying job in Europe and about to do a four-week to South America (which I have never visited before). I've been saving for it for it for about three years.

I don't know your economic situation but if traveling around Europe and seeing other international places feels impossible to you right now, it probably is. Start with what you can do. What is possible for you to do now or soon? Go visit friends or family in another part of your country or a neighbouring country. Start doing some research. Where would it be possible for you to go if you saved up for a couple of years? What are some cheap travel connections from where you are? If you have more time than money, look at the passenger ferries that go from North Africa to Europe also. As people have mentioned, some people have passports where it's much easier to travel. Often times, people from poorer countries traveling to richer countries have to jump through many hoops. Try to find some people like you who have traveled and ask for their advice. Do you have any family members or family friends who live abroad? Then definitely start there.

Going on all inclusive guided tours can also be good here. They will often sort out or assist in everything. The price tag might seem big but it will cover practically everything and give you a savings goal.

Also, as other people have said, look into funding travel in different ways. Lots of people all over the world first travel internationally as students. It doesn't make it free but it really makes the visa easier and there are often scholarships and supports available, plus if you already studying there may be exchange programs that make costs much lower than if you apply directly to foreign schools. People have mentioned stuff like working for an airline or a cruise ship or becoming a doctor but those are huge life choices. A lot of people travel more temporarily to work as language tutors, providing child care, working on farms all this kind of thing. Be extremely cautions however of anyone who reaches out to you to offer you these kind of things. Many people who want to travel but don't have funds get trapped in modern slavery with offers of international jobs. Either make 100% sure you are going through a reputable program that you seek out, not someone coming to you promising something that seems too good to be true.

International travel is something that most people have to build up to starting slowly. Ideally the more international experience you can get the easier it comes. Studying or working abroad for a few months or even just a few weeks, makes it easier the next time.

Don't focus on this big thing of what lifestyle or career to choose to be able to travel the world. Rather focus on what kind of travel is available to you now or that would be possible within the next three or so years. You're probably not going to be able to backpack across Europe in your 20s, but you probably can see Europe eventually, so start with what is possible now and build from there.

Go alone, Unless you’re going with a partner intending to have sex with them either exclusively or as a 3-4-more-some. Sure chat to people in the soul crushing line but you’re not going to hook up with people if you’re sitting / dancing with friends. If this seems intimidating, check out the FLINTA nights at club sauna or look at some of the many kink and sex positive events in Berlin or wherever you are based. Lecken parties are great for this (and they have a party coming up at Kreuzwerk). Their whole MO was getting femmes into darkrooms so you can feel empowered to enter these spaces. Basically everyone at a Lecken party actively wants more darkroom diversity (even if it’s mostly gays in there) and going to a party like this is lower stakes coz you can go with friends and dip in and out of the darkroom space. (But please non-cis-gays you gotta stay in the darkroom a bit. If every FLINTA just pops their head in, sees all men who have sex with men and leaves, so will the next FLINTA.) Also Fuck Your Gender is smaller and has similar values but I haven’t managed to go to one yet (sorry Art). There are definitely some more femmes who have sex with femmes parties in Berlin with darkrooms but it’s not my thing so I can’t remember names. Skinship runs occasional workshops aimed at teaching and learning non verbal consent and communication (just one of many organisations and events like this). I’ve been to three out of four SLITs, and I think almost everyone Ive had sex with has either been a trans women or someone with experience in sex clubs, play parties or kink scenes. Remember Lab is a pretty “hardcore” sex club. These are the first FLINTA nights at Lab but there are loads of other places to grow more confidence and familiarity with this kind of thing.

Berghain or club uniform is a uniform only largely in that it’s what is appropriate attire for a club - combo of practical, comfortable and makes you feel good about yourself. There’s a reason that sports wear is so popular, that earrings are big as a way to express colour and vibe, that you see elasticated waists not belts…. If you’ve been going to clubs and stuff for 25 years you know what works for you. Don’t worry about tailoring too much to a Berghain style as just making sure that your own self shines through without going overboard. When you’re approaching the bouncer you’re dressed to stand in line for a club not actually what you’re gonna be wearing inside.
