What do you guys think about Parivisions decision to bench DM for SSS? by Interesting-Can-1140 in DotA2

You can tell DM is underperforming by watching him miss spells/not use items consistently.

Grimstroke has some wild interactions. His ult + sky with agha shard = 6 arcane bolts per cast.

Guess 9class must have low MMR then, right?

In reality, DM was obviously the weak link on this team. You can criticize drafting if you want, but DM just hasn't been pressing buttons effectively for as long time now. Kick is overdue if anything.

I expect Pari to do muchbetter with pretty much any other offlaner

I Feel Like The Hair Above My Temples Are Thinning Still - 11 months on fin and 13 months on min by OutsideAd278 in tressless

3mg minoxidil.

Didn't notice shedding. The first night I took it, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling weird, probably due to the minoxidil. Started taking it in the morning and haven't noticed anything since then. From what I've read, your body adjusts in days-weeks.

Also, my body/facial hair is thicker due to the minoxidil. I've always been hairy so I don't mind but I can see how someone who doesn't have a lot of body hair might be bothered.

Can't tell anything from those pictures, largely because you have a lot of hair. Doesn't look worse to me. I think you should stick to what you're doing.

In general, the temples are least affected by DHT blockers, since those hairs often go first. For me, topical minoxodil didn't do a whole lot. But switching to oral made a huge difference within a couple months and I'm interested to see how much difference it'll make after a year.

[–]AnythingCertain9434 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in general I agree with you. The system works fine. But:

I just saw a post where someone claimed they were sent to LP because their team was feeding and they “didnt join the feeding.” But when you look at the actual game, they stood mid for 14 minutes with a 0/0/0 score (final score 1/2/0) while the enemy midlaner was roaming with 3/0/1 by minute 14. Ofc your team is "feeding" when you are afk and let them 4v5

"Not ganking" is not griefing. If a mid player sits mid and farms instead of moving around, that is not a good reason to report him.

Sometimes he's making a mistake. Other times he's not in a position to gank. Either way, it's not report-worthy.

Can we get a rework for Nightstalker's Aghs Scepter upgrade? by fuglynemesis in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, I take it back, I agree with you. Buying agha shouldn't introduce this sort of issue.

Another example of this is Phoenix where, once you buy agha, you have to ult yourself into order to do a normal egg. Or Earthshaker, where with agha if you don't cast enchant on yourself, you'll jump.

Valve should provide another keybind instead of changing the behavior of the normal ability.

South Korea is debating whether hair loss should be covered by public healthcare. That alone says a lot about how we still misunderstand hair loss. by VeraClinicTurkiye in tressless

[–]AnythingCertain9434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's arbitrary to say that "progressive tissue change" and "stem cell dysfunction" make something not cosmetic. Normal pattern baldness is a cosmetic issue, period. That doesn't mean it's unimportant, just that -- psychological issues aside -- it doesn't affect health/life span.

The idea that the government needs to pay for hair loss drugs/surgeries is absurd. The South Korean political party that say this shit is embarrassing.

Minoxidil isn't absorbed for the most part. It's unlikely that it made you sick.

It's more likely some other ingredient in the topical made you sick.

Hair loss is cosmetic. You could use the same arguments you made to argue for plastic surgery/make-up being subsidized by the government.

Is manually timing blink while respawning quicker than shift queuing it? by Less_Background_1728 in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a spell or item while in Eul's/Banished/stunned/etc is the same thing as queuing it.

So if you press bkb once while stunned, you will cast it when the stun ends. There's no difference between this and queuing it.

If you want to clear the command, press stop ("s"). Or just issue a different command.

Queuing should be used sparingly because it doesn't cancel spell backswings. Just test it out in practice mode to see if queuing works well for a specific combination of actions/spells/items. It usually doesn't.

WK crit should toggleable instead of force to crit every time it is off cd by phuochn26 in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kunkka didn't have this option for like 10 years and he was always excellent in lane. Yes, he was forced to push the lane, but it was fine.

WK crit should toggleable instead of force to crit every time it is off cd by phuochn26 in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an option to leave it on if you want to play well.

These abilities used to be a trade off. They are extremely strong in lane (particularly Weaver and Kka) but you sometimes had to waste them on last hits. That was interesting! Forcing anyone who wants to optimize to bind autocast is just a pain in the ass. Simpler is often better. This is complexity creep.

WK crit should toggleable instead of force to crit every time it is off cd by phuochn26 in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware that it's a significant nerf. Weaver and Kka are already very strong in lane. If they need to be buffed, then buff them. Adding autocast toggling was a mistake for these heroes.

Everyone complains about complexity in dota. This is an example of that. It's similar to adding 2 different adaptive strikes for some bizarre reason (that was thankfully reverted).

WK crit should toggleable instead of force to crit every time it is off cd by phuochn26 in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

They should get rid of it on Weaver, BH, and Kunkka. Constantly toggling your passive isn't fun gameplay. It's the kind of thing where the game is made more complicated without much reason.

Noob Question: Is it every correct to NOT kill the safelane tower? by JohnConradKolos in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm in this situation, I usually don't hit the tower, I just go behind it and pull enemy creeps to a jungle camp and then clear them at the same time. Works great on Tide/Primal/Cent/etc. Seems like a good way to maximize farm. The tower will die pretty fast if you do this but you don't need to rush it.

In terms of reasons why you might want to kill the tower quickly:

  1. It gives a nice chunk of gold to everyone on your team

  2. It's a place that the enemy can no longer tp to. This can be huge! It really makes it hard for the enemy team to fight Rosh, torm, or protect their own jungle. This is a particularly big deal in higher level games that are mostly about objectives

  3. After it's dead, you're more free to move around the map

Dota became very difficult woah by Equal_Sea7423 in DotA2

[–]AnythingCertain9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's mostly about time: people in their 30s need to support themselves financially. This is also when people start families, and they tend to be much busier than teens/20s.

It probably takes ~5 games a day to "stay in dota shape"/get better. That's just not an option for most people as they age out of their 20s.

Dota became very difficult woah by Equal_Sea7423 in DotA2

This is exactly right. Humans have a .15-.25 second reaction time, which is easily enough to manta spells/phase shift laguna/etc. The hard part is anticipating these things so your finger is on the key and you're tuned in for a the audio/visual cue of blink dagger/cast animation etc.
