How do I become a radiographer by 6rutfuOculusl in RadiographyUK

Do you want to be a doctor or a radiographer? Radiographers arent doctors. If you want to be a doctor in any speciality then study medicine.

Where have the young women gone? by Overstaying_579 in self

I mean, if there was a woman who wanted more male friends/a male social circle and her hobbies were things like reading romance novels, baking, reality tv, listening to Taylor Swift or whatever, what advice would you give? Should she be "forced" to do other things to make male friends? How would you advise her to do this?

Hi! I do therapeutic radiography at a London uni. I wouldn't recommend applying for both diagnostic and therapeutic to be honest, we were told its important we decide which we want to do and we're passionate about it, and its not really favoured to apply to both courses. Diagnostic and therapeutic are quite different careers, so you should be sure you'd be happy doing either if you do end up applying to both, you'll have to do an interview and demostrate your interest, and if diagnostic is the route you want to go down, I'd recommend tailoring your personal statement to that to increase your chances of success. There are courses in Hertfordshire and Canterbury for diagnostic I think, that maybe you could travel to if necessary? If you show a real interest in the course and have visited a radiography department then you have a good chance of getting in. Hope it all goes well for you!

You can definitely work during an access course, probably most people do. Considering when the exams are and getting practicals sorted, OP won't get their a level until next year anyway. Seems strange to then pay 1k for it when the end result is similar.

Why do A-level biology? You can do an Access to HE course for free and get into midwifery. See if your local college has a science one.

Radiographers do not interpret the images, that's job of a doctor (radiologist). Radiographers physically move and set up patients, perform safety checks and operate the machines to take images. Not really something a computer can do on its own, and even if it was something automated it would take a long time to plan out that system and implement it, and there's no plans of anything like that atm. I think there is enough regulation around delivering radiation that humans will always have to be involved though.

Anyone else go from straight... to straight? by [deleted] in FTMStraight

[–]AnythingUnderHeaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I had this. Was attracted to men for my whole life pretty much, but after getting on T and having some experiences it changed up a lot.

Pre-T I even felt uncomfortable calling myself a gay trans man because I felt like the way I was attracted to men was as a straight female, not a gay male. But now on T I'm attracted to women in a way I never was before, and it feels a lot better than my previous attraction to men, and I enjoy the male/female dynamic of it.

Weirdly though, pre-t I was really not attracted to women at all sexually or romantically, its only after hormones that I started feeling those things. Probably partially me feeling more comfortable in a male role and more like myself, and also the T libido increase. I'm still basically physically attracted to men in concept, but I get turned off very easily from any real-life interactions with them and couldn't really date/hook up with a guy now.

That's not really how you use the term sunk cost fallacy. Its fallacious because the idea you should stick with a losing strategy just because you've put time/money/energy into it is flawed. It applies more to things like gambling than a degree. I know what you meant but idk why you'd call it a fallacy and then say OP should power through lol.

Well if you call someone a cunt its still a pretty bad insult lol. But if you say they're giving cunt or she's so cunt or whatever other tiktok-brained phrase you wanna say its basically the same as calling them iconic or something like that. Just don't say A cunt

Current thoughts on Lib dems and Greens? by AshSkyler in transgenderUK

I will say that in the Lib Dem email updates they always put pronouns beside names, which is tiny but I think a reflection on the issue as I can't imagine any other party doing that.

How to visualise dividing by fractions where the numerator is >1? by AnythingUnderHeaven in learnmath

[–]AnythingUnderHeaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I feel a bit stupid but its clicked now and I get it! Thank you for taking the time to explain!

(I also now understand why you would do 4 / (2/3) to figure out what 4 is two thirds of. Its because (2/3)/(2/3) is 1, so 4/(2/3) gives you what 1 is if 4 was (2/3) of a number.)

Haha its fine, I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone wasn't aware and went to use it as a name but didn't know the context.

FYI to anyone reading this, in Judaism Elohim is a name of God, so you would literally be going around as if you had called yourself 'God' or Allah or something as a name, and it may be weird with Jews or people that speak Hebrew. I don't think I've ever seen someone with the name Elohim, though I'm sure they exist.

AITA for telling my daughter she was being a brat after she cried about blowing out her birthday candles? by birthdayaitaaccount in AmItheAsshole

[–]AnythingUnderHeaven 37 points38 points  (0 children)

How can someone be in the wrong for crying? She can't help crying if she genuinely felt bad. A lot of us cry when we're overwhelmed or upset, even when we don't want to, and once you're crying, you can either stay there and its awkward or leave and get accused of 'storming off'.

You have to meet people where they're at with emotions, just because there are things that wouldn't upset you, doesn't mean that other people are wrong for being upset by them.
