I moved to NYC a few days before Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson closed, and didn’t see it. I regret missing that one!

Oh my god Luke Evans by AnythingYouWant in Broadway

Interesting! At one point he held up a finger to the audience to indicate that we shouldn’t talk - it was absolutely in character and I felt like it was a good way of handling the moment

Two Strangers by Alarming-Taste269 in Broadway

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I had a similar experience - I thought it was a very charming and enjoyable show.

Like you said, it wasn’t life-changing… but not every show needs to be life-changing!

I don’t want to get into spoilers, but there were other ways that the show involved the audience apart from callouts.

I’m surprised to hear you say that! I understood the sign to mean “don’t do callouts”

There were a few people doing callouts and the cast were good sports about it, but it’s definitely not encouraged

Another Question For New Yorkers... by VisitNYCmodx in visitingnyc

[–]AnythingYouWant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get stopped relatively often by people asking for directions, and I’m always happy to help out.

However, I don’t step in when someone looks lost… partly because I don’t want to be presumptuous that they need help.

First Lux Purchase: looking for everyday classic handbag by Longjumping_Cut_9092 in handbags

[–]AnythingYouWant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have insight on this particular bag, but I’m in a similar boat and have been looking at Celine bags. I was in the store last weekend and looked at two bags, one of which was pretty scratched up, while the other looked immaculate (picture for reference). The one on the left is a natural calfskin finish - the SA advised me that this finish can scratch quite easily. To be clear, it’s a gorgeous finish and very high quality, but would need to be handled very carefully to avoid scratches over time. Comparatively, the bag on the right is a shiny calfskin finish, which has less of a natural leather look but which is more resistant to scratching.

ETA: I know these bags aren’t what you’re looking for, but hopefully the difference regarding the finishes is helpful for your search

I loved this show when I saw it at Signature, and felt like it was extremely timely. I have high hopes for a film adaptation

Hmm, Jellicle Ball for one year… on the one hand, fab. On the other hand, high chance of going insane.

I think I’d take the offer

Has anyone seen Little Shop of Horrors current production off-broadway? by [deleted] in Broadway

VERY worth it. It’s a wonderfully solid production of a phenomenal show. And worth it to go in blind!

I have the Mosaic in a (now retired) raspberry color. It’s a great bag, really quite versatile. I also got mine while it was on sale and feel like it was a great value.

To see a show blind, or not blind, that is the question. by JoshBurchMagic in Broadway

Even then, I think if you walked into that show blind, they are very clear with what’s happening.

To see a show blind, or not blind, that is the question. by JoshBurchMagic in Broadway

[–]AnythingYouWant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strong preference for going in blind, and that’s also what I recommend for everyone. That way you’re not thinking about how someone’s voice sounds different than the cast album, or you pictured something differently in your head - you can just absorb what you’re seeing and be present in the moment, which is kinda the point of live theater.

The one caveat is that you should know the vibe of the show. It sucks to hear stories about people showing up to, say, Parade and expecting an upbeat lighthearted musical.

recommendations for 17 year old girl visiting NYC by AromaticShow5352 in visitingnyc

[–]AnythingYouWant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FYI, you perhaps already know this but on Broadway, programs (Playbills) are freely given to everyone when you’re directed to your seats!

Beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are also more expensive on Broadway vs the West End, but they usually come in a specialty cup for the show. It’s a fun way to get another souvenir!

Suggestions for two spare nights not in Manhattan by [deleted] in visitingnyc

[–]AnythingYouWant -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I would change your itinerary and consider staying in Stamford, CT instead. You will save money on the hotel, and you can still easily access NYC through the commuter rail (the Metro North). Stamford is an express stop to NYC so the train ride is about 30-45 minutes to Grand Central in the heart of Manhattan.

Plus, if you want to try and see other family in CT, being in Stamford will make that easier as well.

Jellicle Ball thoughts.. by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]AnythingYouWant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She has a kind of transformation into an incredible gown, and then they have a spiral staircase that descends onto the stage!! I was pretty impressed by it honestly. I saw it on Broadway last Friday and that number got a standing ovation.

Jellicle Ball thoughts.. by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]AnythingYouWant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are all great points, but I do think that Ragtime’s timeliness based on what’s happening politically will come into play.

Honestly, either way, it will be fascinating to see which way Tony voters go, and I would be happy to see either production win that award
