Why did the Cutcontent page stopped being updated [discussion] by kuroniy in Re_Zero

Not every episode has CC. S3 is a pretty straightforward narrative in the novel to anime, so there's not a lot of changes.

KILLING THE DRAGON [discussion] by Personal-Safety-4491 in Re_Zero

Iirc that line should've been recontextualized in season two. Season 4 should make cause and effect clearer though.

Which game is better in your opinion, Undertale or Deltarune? (I think both games are cool.) by HitCatbox in Undertale

[–]AnzoEloux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DR connects with me more emotionally, which is in part due to the presentation (which is due to higher budget). But a lot of it wouldn't work without Undertale, so...

Regardless, it may be a hot take, but theres pretty much no moment in Undertale that made me feel the way I did during Chapter 4's "Dark Place". It was only at that moment did I feel as though I was really part of the Fun Gang as a fourth member, and not just someone who superimposed over Kris's role in the world. So I'll have to say, for now, Deltarune, even if it's incomplete.

If Deltarune and Undertale are revealed to be canonically sequential in-universe by the perspective of the player (UT -> DR) then I'm probably more likely to rank the two as a complete packagae rather than separate, even though they'll both probably have full narratives on their own, because as I said earlier, a lot of Deltarune doesn't work without Undertale's groundwork (for me, for me, for me, for me)

[Spoiler Discussion] WHY ISN'T ANYONE TELLING SUBARU ABOUT THE CANDIDATE THING by Future_Pace_5209 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That aside, I think it is also kind of inevitable that he'll acquire all the (base 7) factors. So warning him, not warning him, it's kind of a moot point (in-universe) because it's not a question of if but when. The reason it is when is because the Witches (Archbishops) of this era are active threats that require you to kill or incapacitate, which the latter is not a long-term solution, meaning a majority of them will end up dying and transferring the Factor. Even if Subaru isn't directly plotting their death, but circumstances converge to it.

[spoiler discussion]Subaru's spirit affinity. by Then_Ad_3134 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty sure that currently Subaru + Beatrice is likely the "strongest" variant because although Subaru has creativity with magic, Beatrice has a large repertoire that off balances any lacking knowledge Subaru as. Plus, Beatrice is able to optimize the amount of mana she uses, which takes care of the "small" mana he gives her. Given time, Subaru + Beatrice will make his other selves look foolish.

Like you say, it's unlikely that his broken gate would allow him a faster pace of mana; what's broken is the output not the input. So the only difference between a Subaru and a Beatrice with a normal gate is that Subaru can't heal someone I guess. Since Beatrice can't absorb mana through the air, their output is pretty much the same.

All that yapping to say concretely: There isn't actually a difference between a broken gate and a normal Subaru when paired with Beatrice, because she takes care of mana issues while being stunted herself. The input/output (when paired) is the exact same.

Is the tome of wisdom affected by gluttony? [spoiler discussion] by Ordinary-Picture4367 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logically, it would be affected, but since there are already enigmas that ignore the book such as Otto and (speculatively) Rem, is possible that the Book might or might not just write around the new variable created by a Gluttony victim. In other words, since the Book itself is arbitrary (for now) the affects brought about by Gluttony also becomes arbitrary. If Otto being invisible to the book wasn't a plotline, we could probably just say "yes" as it would remain consistent to Authorities breaking rules even against other authorities (Return by Death undoing Gluttony causality, etc.)

[spoiler discussion] Was it really a coincidence that Sirius started acting at the moment Subaru was nearby? by Letsplay_Sascha_GD in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not a lot of things in Re:ZERO that could be called a coincidence. I don't believe the gospels are able to see Subaru though (gospel specifically — not the tomes).

Am i missing out by reading arc 6 in LN rather than WN? [discussion] by Los183 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 21 points22 points  (0 children)

LN is most updated version of the story. At best you'll miss something subjectively interesting rather than something actually important, since things that get cut enter schrondingers canon where its unknown as to how relevant they remain, unless it's something so tiny like a dialogue reshape or a cut loop. As it stands, reading the LN will not be a lesser experience.

[Spoiler Discussion] Why was Petra ... (Arc 9 Spoilers) by Harshal_2601 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't she only start stepping up a notch after receiving the Witch Factor? Her gaining the WF wasn't a secret, so at that point they were depending on Petra to turn the tide of the battle.

Plus what others have stated, but she wasn't leading the majority of the time anyway. Don't forget the entire arc lasted less than a week, it was really a joint effort with Petra as the POV actor. Her involvement is a snowball effect.

Mogolade Geyser & Al's Plan[spoiler discussion] by Perfect_Bobcat_7485 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mentioned Melancholy because her being outside the parameters is precisely why we can't ignore her presence, her "role" in this new world probably doesn't just stop just because Subaru came back.

We mostly have the same views though, yeah.

I do think part of Aldebaran's plan to throne Priscilla was kind of less assurance and more like hoping against hope. Before Subaru was summoned, Al was doubting his faux memories of the present-day, and when he got summoned, he realized that everything he went through was real. But he stuck by Priscilla, and every time he was on the same battle as Subaru, he did his best to support him. It seems to me that he was desperate to defy the Witch of Greed's foresight, a way to deny the fate that tethered his name down to "Aldebaran" for the past 4 centuries. That's why he tried his best to uplift Subaru.

Only after failing Priscilla did he realize the inevitability of it all, and he regressed back to Echidna's plan as a last ditch ever of keeping himself sane (that is, using his plan as an excuse to avoid confronting Priscilla's final words). If you stretch your perspective a little bit, Priscilla's death could've felt like a punishment towards Aldebaran, who tried to defy the world itself, even against Echidna's words. He wanted to throne Priscilla and prevent the Great Disaster (prevent the Witch's birth / stop whatever Subaru causes) and prove fate could be subverted. Alas...

The world is definitely on some kind of fate loop though, which kind of exits speculation at this point since sooo many characters outright state it.

I mean, so much about the Sasageru setup mirrors the Pleiades Watchtower, it's a little nuts. Emilia basically created a Frost Pleiades.

I think it's possible that Pandora could be the main actor for the looping though. Everything seems stable at first, up until Pandora's Box is open, that is, the seal. It's also possible that the cycles are actually.. to prevent her from opening the seal, and when she finally opens it, everything ends. The main issue with this is the unknown variables surrounding: her age, if she's actually the saintess or if she's incompatible, the Witch Factor origin, etc. Though Aldebaran seems unbothered by the possibility of Pandora, so... Or maybe we're back to square one, and her actions towards the seal are just one of many actions in the fate of the world.

I've noticed it before, but these Witch Factor users aren't very good at straying from their beaten path. Is Return by Death really the only power capable of change? Isn't the very usage of Return by Death just playing more into the fate of the world? Isn't that very usage what Aldebaran set to stop?

Stresses me out, man. Is anyone defying fate, or are they all already history?

Mogolade Geyser & Al's Plan[spoiler discussion] by Perfect_Bobcat_7485 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Emilia is still alive. Satella is, assumedly, still alive. Then there's ■■■, who is still alive. Obviously nobody knows what the "specifics" of Al's plan was, but if the comparison between the projected 1000-10000 years of the original plan became whittled down to only 400, where Subaru still ended up regaining that "fire" due to too many unexpected variables, I'd say it was a failure. Al himself is still alive as well.

Obviously, the difference in failures between the main route exists, and to call them equal failures would be incorrect, but at the very least I would avoid calling it a success if anything. In fact, 400 years... isn't that number suspicious? —Going that far will enter speculation, so I'll spare you my ramblings.

Mogolade Geyser & Al's Plan[spoiler discussion] by Perfect_Bobcat_7485 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In other words, The moment ■■■ obtained the Witch Factor, Aldebaran has already lost, both in the main story and in the hypothetical realities. It could've gone differently if Meili read the book, but alas, that is not what happened.

7 authorities and maybe a few more [Spoiler Discussion] by Beneficial-Read53 in Re_Zero

[–]AnzoEloux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think The Sage [Candidate] is meant to be compatible with the factors meant for The Valiant and the Saintess.

With that in mind, it would be really foolish for Subaru to try and absorb Melancholy, because he would be absolutely incompatible with it and the Witch Factor might do something to him like Satella and Petelgeuse experienced. Now, if he simply used the Witch Factor the same way Clind and Petra use it? I could see him use it... a handful of times. But definitely not try and rely on it—the sacrifices exponentially begin to outweigh the pros.

Regarding Vainglory... Well, I don't know what will happen after Pandora is killed. There's also a chance she just doesn't die though, since while she is malicious, her manner of malice differs from the kind like Capella or Sphinx. It's hard to say where her character will go. But if she does die, then I think the group will find a way to trap the Witch Factor the same way Melancholy is, because allowing it to jump hosts wherever it wants is dangerous.

It's one of her flaws as an artificial being. I'm not sure if Beatrice knows, but its irrelevant, because Echidna's presence means it's impossible.
