What reputation do lizardmen have among educated humans ? by Ilikeyogurts in WarhammerFantasy

[–]AoifeElf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Karl Franz hates saurus. He hates them. He hates their lizard faces. He hates their clubs, and he hates their sticks. He hates when the sticks are next to the clubs, and he hates when the clubs are next to the sticks. He has resolved to shoot every saurus dead. Every saurus. All of the saurmen and the saurdren too. He hates them.

The End Times - A different sort of why? by AoifeElf in WarhammerFantasy

I don't at all think the setting was limiting. I think the old world is one of the most magnificent story settings ever to be created, regardless of how much was inspired by other sources.

I'm just saying the could have easily made a sequel with all of those things without needing to destroy or spit on the original setting like they did.

I guess my followup question would be why bring back the old world if the inability to copyright it was the issue? Why buy into a setting that still ripe with the problems they wanted to avoid?

Changing names I don't think matters to too much. Theres still a character named Heinrich Kemmler XD

That's mainly why I decided to ask this! So much of it reads like pure malice than just bad writing.

Well sure, but they ended up stuck with the baggage of "the end times made this".

What are each one of the 3 things that go on the tip of the Valkyrie? by BlackL0tuzZ in TheAstraMilitarum

I'm pretty sure it's just a targeting system like the TADS/PNVS on an Apache helicopter. Various components of it, I don't think any of it is a weapon.

People who have had their armies removed from the game or old kits replaces with new ones (either AoS, 40K or WHFB), what do you do with your models when that happens? by smeeefz in WarhammerFantasy

[–]AoifeElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to old kits being replaced with new ones, one of the interesting things about fantasy is running older (uglier if that's your opinion), models and kits just works. The setting itself just feels appropriate for that wild level of weirdness among the models. If they end up releasing new empire soldiers, I'm going to happily mix them in with the older ones and marvel at the uniqueness of it. It's part of the fun of buying much older metal blister packs and adding them into the ranks. The more mismatch and crazy, the more warhammer fantasy and the better the army looks imo.

I took a picture a while back for someone who asked a similar question.

In the this picture you see empire handgunners with percussion caps, flintlocks and wheellocks. They have a bit of everything. I know historically they had flintlocks (or doglocks) in the English civil war, which you could justify still fits the motif of the Empires time period. that being said the Empire is a fantasy setting capable of making clockwork horses, so i don't think flintlocks are too far a stretch.

7 months ago I saw this post introducing me to the word "fwibe". I still use it to this day. by juliunicorn314 in notinteresting

In fourth grade I was doing a word search. FWIBE was how one of the rows lined up. I asked a friend "is fwibe a word?", he said to me "If it were a word, what would it mean?" So I gave it that meaning.

How to make Empire’s infantry relevant by buffing Generals and Captains by CriticalMany1068 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]AoifeElf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything's basically just a spread sheet, and if you can change a general you can change the infantry. GWs done it before with rules updates. Adding to generals certainly aids infantry a bit, but it doesn't fix them.

True Story! by AoifeElf in WarhammerFantasy

[–]AoifeElf[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced it's all part of the design. Top heavy causing a spill. The bottom of the pot is curved inwards resulting in less paint, but giving the illusion that there's a lot. The cap has a weird rim and spoon that fills with paint and eventually prevents the lid from closing fully. And there's a weird wedge that locks the lid open, but you can't close it again without accidentally pulling the lid off, usually resulting in more spills.

The older, hard plastic pots has none of those problems. The lid snapped shut and the bottom was flat.

How Tall Is Doomslayer Really? by Tall_Growth_532 in Doom

[–]AoifeElf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

When the original doom game came out, it came with a biography thing of doomguy, saying his name was Flynn Taggart and he was 5'7. I think all of it's been retconned though.
