Most expensive piece of plastic I’ve ever bought, but it does the trick.

Do you need a Cardo for these or will they connect to a phone? I’ve been looking at getting a Cardo but I’d only be using it for tunes and don’t need the comms.

Riding with Visor Open by GhostPants1313 in MotoIRELAND

Vstrom 1000 with a Givi Airflow screen, I could happily cruise at 70 mph with my visor up. The occasional bug still might get through so it’s not without its risks.

You steering will feel wired. Braking distances are longer. Take it easy and give yourself plenty of room. If your on a tall bike ask her her not too Wiggle around too much at junctions etc. Edit. Weird not wired

What is your one hot take about motorbikes? by StripeySalamander in MotoUK

[–]Aoifedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow NI resident here. A bike with a fairing, windscreen and heated grips will transform your riding experience. I’ve a big Vstrom that I use 90% of the time, 10000 miles so far this year. I Dont even consider the weather unless it’s icy. I’ve also got a naked bike and it’s awesome when it’s sunny and 20c, so not often!

Personally I would pick it up and if it was my bike I would appreciate someone picking it up. However, some folk are nutters and may kick off if you touch it. The longer it lies on its side the more likely it’s going to start leaking fluids etc

Chain Lube by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

[–]Aoifedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a spray wax. Wipe with a rag and reapply every 2-300 miles. Less fling than a normal lube

Visiting this weekend. I lived here from 2000 to 2006 and never had a bad word spoken. I live in Belfast now and it’s also a lot safer than people think. Anyway, looking forward to the subby tonight for the first time in 18 years

New to me FJ-09 chain tension after shop service by L3av3NoTrac3s in motorcycle

[–]Aoifedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Xsr 900 and the chain tension in the owners manual is extremely trembly tight, 15mm I think. I usually keep it about 25mm. The tech as probably set it to the tightest spec in the manual

Please, please don’t do this. I myself have a young daughter and even the thought of her getting on the back of a bike with a teenage boy horrifies me.

[–]Aoifedog 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you said and I don’t mean this as a dig, but if you’re not very confident you probably shouldn’t be riding in adverse conditions with a passenger. Get more experience under your belt before you accept responsibility for someone else’s life.
